Absolutely brilliant from 5 of the finest Scottish and Irish musicians alive. Love you Julie and your family and band. And how is that the simplest, least complicated little tunes are the MOST beautiful? Simple. They were written by people who LOVED other people and wanted to make them HAPPY. People like US!! Xx
Ancient Celtic composers, who wrote many of the melodies, would surely sit up in their final resting places, shake the dust from their heads and in joyful wonder and amazement listen to what Julie Fowlis brings to their tunes.
Thank you so much for posting. This was my first experience of her live in Dublin and it was one of the most magical evening... Their talent and of course Julie's incredible playing and that voice has led to 3 further live events... and she blows me away every time. Thanks for this wonderful memory.
The first tune is a reel, composed by Tom Doorley - he recorded it with "Danu", and gave it the title "Are You Ready Yet ?". It is the very first tune played on the band's CD "Think Before You Think", which I recommend.
Thanks for the comment! The reel sounded super-familiar the second he started playing, and the next 30 seconds of trying to remember the tune name or where I heard it were a torture until I saw your comment :)
Ms. Fowlis never ceases to thrill me. She's priceless cultural treasure all on her own, but all the musicians are great.

Right to my soul. It must be my Scottish roots.
Wow! She plays the pipes beautifully! Like everything else she does. It's all so enjoyable.
Amazing. Even the pipes she grasped my heart. Ty Julie!
Beautiful Flute player x
Would I sound like I'm parroting everyone else if I say the bagpipes at the end might be my favorite part of the video?

Flute and pipes power !!! Wow ... incredible !
You people are amazing thank you for what you do. In a world of lost artifice you breath fresh ancient being into the now.
Does my heart good to see Julie tearing it up on the big pipes
She's pretty even playing the pipes!
This is true but you seem to be missing the point

The Hag at the Churn sounds brilliant on the piob mor
Am I the only one who admires Tom with the flute and the mild dance?
No you're not - I just love his hip swaying way of keeping time!
Who does not want to play together with Julie Fowlis on the Pìob-Mhòr (Highland Bagpipes).
What a queen. 😁
I love the way she disappears for a moment, then comes back and she's like "You guys did NOT forget that I'm a piper too!"
man she plays the friggin GHB too.....
I use this to get motivated
I love the bagpipes
Magnifiquement interprété !
Una obra de arte, simplemente majestuoso.

Wait a minute... these are not all jigs some of them are reels.
A set of gigs of which the first part is a set of reels ! Nice by the way...
love it paul payton England x x ☺😁😀👍
The first tune is certainely NOT a jig !
We have 2 reels followed by a jig. (The Hag at the Churn, scottish version for the highland bagpipe)
what is it than? what's the difference between jigs and reels by the way?
It's a reel (4/4). Count 1234 1234
jigs are 6/8 : count : 123 123

Thank you!
I wonder. Did anyone mention the first tune being a jig?
The last one she played on the pipes was Hag at the Churn
The first female bagpipe player I've seen. Go Julie

Jigs...???
Is the guitarist playing a standard tuning guitar?
What are the names of these 3 jigs?
hahaha xD. that has to be the most unsettling instrument... and the funniest faces I've seen Julie make.
what name of tune?
+Rio Herwindo first tune : Are you ready yet ? write by Tom Doorley. Idon't know for the other tunes sorry :/
The bouzouki player in this video is Tom Doorley's brother (and Julie's husband), Eamon.
And that's Tom on the flute. Duh.
The second tune where Julie plays the pipes I know as "Hag at the Churn".
Who is playing the bouzouki please?
Julie Fowlis husband Éamon Doorley.
@@smartotrams Thanks!
Any one got the name of the last jig?
Michel Bonamy on the flute.
EDIT : Nope !
I think it's Tom Doorley
@@marytolhurst5165 Yes, probably.
