- The 4th Kira race was a awesome! Thank you to the race organizers and all paddlers stepping up and making a great even start. It's so fun being in that start with everyone grinding to the first turn.
I probably should not have been racing since I was sick but I am a little bit obsessed and would be bummed if I could not give it a go. I thought if I could stay outside a little bit until I got to Makapu"u Point, then I could surf downwind. Unfortunately that was not the best line. The water was so rough and I could not find any lines to surf and I hulied...LOL Once I got back up and running I was able to surf and make up some lost time past alan davis beach. It got real sticky just outside of Hanauma Bay as I came into the wall. I saw guys staying outside and I should have done the same since I felt like it was not much surfing going on and the outside line would have been better. After passing china walls I was hoping to catch some surf to help gain some distance to the finish. I was not able to catch any waves and we had 25 mph head winds all the way to the finish line. I gave it my all and I am happy with my results considering how I was feeling.
I can't wait for the next race!
Quite the challenge on the home stretch!! Way to push!!
It was sooo hard for sure!!
Great video! love the slow mo huli footage,,,, wow what a mix of conditions, great job!
LOL thank you! that wave caught me good! I was braced and ready and it still took my canoe right out from under me.
Great video, Brad!
Thank you!
Rough waters, could really feel the "stickiness" when you were going upwind. Seems there were a bunch of hulies.
Man that upwind finish was so tough! Lots of hulis around Makapu’u 🤙🏽
Awesome run Brad. Upwind on the last stretch was brutal.
Thanks so much! Yea that head wind sucked so bad! Felt like I was dragging an anchor!
Good race.
Thank you! What a blast!!
