Very interesting video. What kind of modifications have you done to the engine to make it withstand this high rpms? 8mm valves, stronger valve springs? Still running the stock crankshaft? Keep up the good work!

Brilliant tuning ,have you thought about an afr meter in the exhaust to see any leaning when out driving under load

I've gone broke trying to tune my top end. Lotus 16v 907 engine, high compression, 2.0 liter. She only seems to like F4 and F3 emulsions, I use a wideband and still haven't been able to get the engine to pull at 5500-8000 rpm where it should. It has a very long duration high overlap cam designed for the high rpms. It's so frustrating not really being able to understand how this works, been fiddling with it for years! I'm glad F16 worked for you, for me F16 was awful. I have tried F2, F3, F4, F11, F17 and F7 and F8. My full setup is 125 mains, 170 air, F3, 55F9 idles, 35 pump jets, 40 pump exhaust, 38 chokes and 4.5 aux venturi. She pulls ok up to transition and then breaks up at bit at 4000, then ok up to 6500 but no more. She is supposed to pull to 8000.

Your mains are too litle... With 38 chokes....
I have a BMW 2002 with 292 schrick cam, 32 Chokes and it works with 125 /130 mains.
You should try a bigger main jet.

@@ricardorodrigues1003Hello Ricardo, I also have a 2002 with a 292 cam and 32 chokes, very good torque at low end and pulls well up until 5000, from there its like the engine is going to explode and little power until 6.5k. any ideas?

      @@skippywinters hello.
I have changed to 34 chokes, 130 mains 170 airs, f9 emulsion tunes and 55f8 idles.
And it pulls really fast to 6500 rpm, it dosent go more because i dont want.
Maybe you have poor misture at hi rpm.
What kind of carburetor setup do you have?

    • @skippywinters
      @skippywinters 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Olá Ricardo, português? At this moment I have:
      125 mains F9 e.tube 200 air corrector
      Idle jet 50F14
      Acc jet 35.
I have an A/F gauge and it shows around 12 which doesn’t look bad. I do suspect my Venturi is too small and should increase to 34 as well as jets accordingly. My setup was made by my mechanic and compared to examples on the internet it does looks a little weird

Change you air correctors. They are too big.....that is your problem.

  • @D3Sshooter

Nice video, although it seemed to me from the start that emulsion tube was the issue. The F16 is the most common type. I wonder what kind of fuel jet you have fitted and air compensation in the F16 . Not to mention the venturi size as that relates directly to you main fuel jet.// typical that is 4 times ( 32mm * 4) is about a 130-150 main fuel jet. then the air compensation jet is about the same as the main fuel jet +60... anyhow that is how `i do it... just curious what your settings are

I have installed the 1750ccm engine and max upm is about 6500. in opposite to you iam going with the Dellorto carburators. My Giulietta is designed for all purpose use with a little more power than the original and runs with about 130 horses....
Btw, i changed the way air coming to the carbs. I dont like that the engine is feeded with the hot air from the engineroom, this is like a vicious circle. i put away the ventilation tube and use this way to get the air for the carbs from the outside. If you want i can send you a picture of the construction.

weber 40s I assume? the chokes also play a crucial role here, too small and obviously the engine won't be breathing

Great videos for Alfisti like me! Thought you would be interested I run a 1300 giulia and 1750 gtj both with 40 webers so i have some experience of gains and losses with Weber emulsion/ idle jetting and hotter cams/ poor starting/ better top end etc. I also run a Lancia 1600HF on 35mm dellorto DHLBs which are unfortunately quite rare now. The Dellortos are very similar to weber in design but they appear to emulsify the fuel far better. The HF is an incline V4 engine of course but I am able to run the DHLBs on only 1.5psi (around 3psi for the DCOEs) with super smooth idle and progression/ acceleration circuits all the way around the revs to 7000 with no limit. Also better fuel economy on long runs. The engine pulls hard all the way through on standard jetting. Ive never figured out why Weber cant seem to do this without losses somewhere in the range although of course i am a fan of Weber. All the best from England keep up the great videos!

I had 3-4 Alfasud's 1.3-1.5 litre and the best of all was the one fueled by Dellorto's and a 1500cc lump. Even in 5th gear from 30mph, it'd pull like a train and when thrashing it the induction sound was animal like.
