    Idk about you Ben but my Xiaomi gets 10 miles on normal carrying over 250lbs (I have a soundboks 2 strapped to my back I'm not that fat)...& on eco flux between 16-18 miles. Also flashed the firmware to go faster not torque but speed wise so on normal it tops out at 19.8 mph easily & eco tops out at 15.5 mph with the 250lbs payload.

    The Lidl scooter looked promising, German manufactured, Speedo, rear wheel drive, solid rubber tyres, 24kmh, shame they never ended up getting stock despite showing online and in the in-store brochure, apparently it will now feature at a later date. It reminded be of the ninebot but with rear wheel drive.

    Three reasons I won't purchase an electric scooter at this time: Most current available scooters do not have adequate foot space to stand in a proper upright position with some space between each foot. At any speed, a proper suspension system must be used to reduce the amount of jostling between the ground and the vehicle. And the long term use must be durable enough to last more than 3 years. I find that the average scooter that is used daily materially breaks down within 6 months so I will wait until there's a history behind each scooter type to inform me what maintenance issues I need to confront so I can tolerate the repair and replacements costs of usage. I think people don't anticipate how long the battery life is for the nonreplaceable scooter models. If you can DIY repair and replace, then that situation is a plus.

    You don't seem to mention that the Segway "brake" is regenerative. It's not really a brake, it just adds resistance due to the generator. It's like taking your foot off the accelerator in a Tesla. That's a very important difference you didn't make clear. Otherwise, nice review.

  • @ejod_who
    @ejod_who 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I was torn between these two as well, the deciding factor for me was a lot of people were having issues with the "folding portion" breaking while they were riding, putting the rider in danger. Also, the ES2 had solid wheels, which I was looking for. I know you can change the Xiaomi's tires out for solid ones. I eventually went with the ES4 for the extended power and range.

    Just starting to look into these, so this was helpful. One thing I didn’t see mentioned was how the placement of the battery might effect the stability and handling. That might be why Carly felt safer, sturdier and more in control on the Xiaomi; lower center of gravity and you are not flipping the weight of a battery around as you steer and lean.

    Don't buy this scooter. We had two regular and pro versions. After 2,500 km, the bearings will be so loud that it is impossible to drive. Bearings practically impossible to replace. Will start to violin, tap. The brake cable will break. It will stop charging. Replacing a punctured inner tube is a nightmare . My friends scooter broke down after 1200 km. The Xiomi warranty covers virtually nothing. We shipped under warranty. They demanded 3/4 of the value of the scooter for the repair of a faulty loud motor of no known fault. Stay away these Chinese scooter

    I hope the "Zero emissions" Tee has nothing to do with the scooters.. Anyway this e-scooter hype seems like the worst scam ever regarding just that. They are thrown away after only months of use (I heard two.. TWO..). Customers are ditching them everywhere even in rivers. Lithium-in batteries contain rare earth metals from Kongo wich is a very very dirty trade. Theese metals will only be available about ten more years. Its a finite resource but entire units are scrapped very early probably to guarantee the safety of riders. On a daily basis they are picked up and placed out by cars driving around doing only that. The enviromental aspects of this is a complete scam. One cannot say the clientele otherwise would have taken their cars since this is a market creating new behaviours. They are marketed as an alternative to walking. Ride them but stop perpetuating the "zero emissions" misconception/lie...

      The Ninebot ES4 is faster due to it going beyond the 25km p/hr speed barrier, and I assume the Xiaomi Pro should go beyond 25km p/hr but no it doesn't lol.

    • @lionelfranklin4529
      @lionelfranklin4529 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Martin Kargo Kind off disagree with your opinion, ninebot is metal all the way, easier folding mechanism, suspension, solid wheels, no external cables, more compact folder in and better display. Also does it offer the function to upgrade with a topspeed of 31km/h. Brakes do need getting used to. I drive my es4 to work with my colleague who owns a M365 I have to slow down constantly it’s really a lot quicker.

    • @K4rgo
      @K4rgo 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lionelfranklin4529 A fair comparison would be of the ES4 and the M365 Pro. There M365 Pro is still a lot cheaper than the ES4 and with unlocked speed the M365 goes as fast as the ES4. Then i'd say you have the best of both worlds. Also there are many bad reports regarding the steering mechanism on the es2/4. Saying that it gets loose over time (and quite bad actually). The M365 is not without its flaws but in terms of price/quality it's a clear winner in my book.

    Mate. Scooter review videos are not supposed to be funny. I just can't. Also, #M365forever!
    I'm very enthusiastic about these electric scooters (hence why I watch your epicly produced videos). I use mine daily to get to work and have put about 600kms on it in about three months. It does 20km or just above (perhaps 21km if you're lucky) on a single charge in 'normal' mode, though it's noticeably down on power after the battery goes below 50%. Eco mode will deliver the 30km range but it'll take you between now and the end of time to get anywhere because the speed and torque are so reduced. Brussels, where I live (UK expat, you see) has about the same frequency of hills as London, and up those hills you can totally forget ecomode.
    The thing with the M365 is that while it's solidly built, they've made some odd design choices, such as the charging port being a bit crap, and the brake light cable at the back contacting the wheel (my rear light gradually went dimmer and after perhaps 40kms of use has stopped working entirely) Moreover, they don't tell you that you absolutely have to adjust the brake cable at the back because otherwise it doesn't actually work and you will be killed to death if you need to emergency brake - ditto the tyres, which out of the box are under-inflated and need to be pumped up to like....45psi/3.5 bar to prevent punctures. The ***most*** grievous flaw is this: everything on the scooter is waterproof, EXCEPT the button right at the top of the stem that turns it on. If water gets in, which it might when it, err, rains, it will short the circuit board and the scooter will die. Given that it rains 120% of the time in Belgium, this is a problem, and it killed my first M365 on its second outing.
    On the plus side, there are a lot of accessories for the Xiaomi, such as handlebar bags, phone holders and I, for the princely sum of 3 quid, bought a metre of AA-battery LED lights from Aliexpress and now have "cool" changing lights on my M365, like it has on the ES2. And once you've attended to the various flaws (pumping up the tyres, regular adjusting of the brake cable, replacement of the rear lights with bog standard bike lights, gaffer tape over the button) it seems to run reliably (touch wood).
    Edit: also: Yay for #CarlysOpinion! Thanks again for the vids. Did you buy her the coffee?

    • @BenFox01

      @emanuelbaldestein3879 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! I agree with everything you said, and while the M365 definitely has some issues it's still one of the best for the price. I wanted to ask, how did you install the lights (like on the ES2)?! I've always been very jealous of that... cheers

    • @gillesmatheronpro
      @gillesmatheronpro 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Clever comments, you're pointing crucial criterias out.
      With some experience, I'd also add...
      Even though you carry 2 or 3 spare tubes, what if you puncture them all ? Don't laugh or nod, that happened to millions of commuters. And have you ever tried changing a tube under heavy rain, fiddling with those tools, getting those hands dirty, turning those cleaned and ironed garments into proper rags ?
      Maintaining and servicing disc brakes is not (at all) an easy thing. And when, by a miracle no one has ever seen, you manage to slip those brake pads where it is nearly impossible to slip them... did you succesfully adjust them, so they actually operate and stop you without the squeeky sound of a dying squirel ?!
      What happens when water gets into the charging port (located at the worst place ever) ? If battery pack and/or BMS gets soaked... get ready for some serious repair. Not asking if that happens to the stem-top button, you said so. And I don't see myself buying another scooter just to compensate for some engineer's lack of inspiration.
      Then... tail light cable being worn to death by the wheel (what an error during designing stages, not spotted along quality control stages). Well, apart from being mandatory (or soon to be just about everywhere), that also IS a life-saver feature. And again, no... I don't see myself buying old me another life (?!) to compensate [well, you get my point]...
      So, really... the M365 is a clear and undisputed winner ? With or without gaffer tape, I'm doubting.

    That’s a great comparison, thank you :) - I ended up going for the ES2, reasons are: currently they are the same price on aliexpress, if you don’t want flat tires you need to put solid tires on the m365 which makes it very harsh without a suspension, the es2 is quicker to fold when going on public transport, I love having the option to attach a battery quickly for that longer ride, seems like more modern tech with regen braking, display, lights, less exposed wiring, etc.
