I absolutely love this game, it's basically the 3S of SNK. Characters are fun (it's why i love B Jenet), mechanics are simple yet hard to master, and the presentation is amazing.
I think this game is way superior to 3rd Strike as well.
the simplicity of the game is crazy to me, I was able to do all my character's moves without even looking at a list, just did some quarter circles and I found out how to play the game
@@soundsofstabbing3627 Some character are easier than other. But basically, yeah the game is quite simple, and once you mix breaks and feints with perfect mastery of special, you can do crazy things.
I keep forgetting how amazingly FAST Kevin can build meter in Garou 😂

yeah, as someone familiar to high level play of sf3 and garou, it wasnt that much different from watching a new player at sf3 playing against an experienced veteran, except all the feint cancels and meter building faster in garou, plus more defensive mechanics in garou that smug is not used to that made it look more one-sided

Specially because it doesn't have shitty trainning stages that let you choose,animations in the back are amazing compared to even kof xv,lack of animations because people complain about lag and all that shit,funny enough,they complain about that and they play on shitty tranning stages but the normal stages remain without love in animations.

@TheLucasCaputo Fatal Fury original name is Garou Densetsu. "Garou" is just the original name used for the last episode of the series. I have always liked Fatal Fury way more than King of Fighter. Especially Fatal Fury 3 and Garou.

Garo has always been ahead of its time.
The whole SNK company as a fg maker was in a different level in the 90s. They made big fg innovations every year. But sadly too poor to afford new tech unlike Capcom. The cps2 system, that ran Darkstalkers and Marvel, and the cps3 system that ran SF3 and Jojo were literal game changers for Capcom.

Kevin should totally be in KOF. Maybe forming a team with Hokutomaru and Hotaru. Like "tough-cop-guy taking babysitting" kinda team
Kevin in KOF wouldn't be a bad idea, but i don't want too much of MOTW taking slots in KOF. So I don't agree with your idea of team. There's too much in KOF 15 already. If future games just rotate MOTW chars then that's fine.
Definitely keep playing this game! It gets more fun the more you play :) Also would love to see you play the other Fatal Fury games. I'm a huge fan of the 2-plane and oversway systems (especially the oversway).
Oh absolutely! I agree! I personally prefer RBFF2 over Garou but Garou is awesome nonetheless! Definitely up there!
I wish to see him try Rick in RB2, and also try RB1 later just for the experience of a more unique fg style.
Garou is such a good game. Played it on the old NeoRageX emulator back in the day and loved it so much I got it for my Dreamcast when it came out day 1.
Kevin was a Monster in MOW. That grab cancel to the uppercut super was so satisfying to pull off....good ol' arcade memories
Smug has been Garou’d. My first Garou online match experience was also the same, although my opponents had a Japanese name. He bodied me across multiple universes with every character in the roster like holy F 😂😭. I second some comment in here who reccomend you to learn how to cancel moves / combos and just defense before challenging anyone. These bad mama jamas not gonna give any mercy because they already trained in the hyperbolic time chamber, perfecting their combo cancels and just defense to protect their turf especially from newcomers 😁
It's a 20+ years old advanced fg and Smug is a newbie. Simple. He's going to get bodied. There are people playing it since release or the early 00s.
Also there's the factor that all these old arcade games have cheesy and/or broken stuff that can be very oppressive for a newbie if the player wants to be extra brutal and bully.
This game has a deep learning curve.
I bet that if Smug give this game some time we might witness something really cool in the future. Anyway great showcase of Garou - this game feels as amazing as broken it is.
He must also watch some high level matches with the chars he uses
with smugs execution he would be great with characters that reward execution like B.Jennet, Gato or Kevin. Good to see Smug enjoy the game and hopefully keep playing to see how deep the game is and how much fun the system mechanics are.
Good point. I don’t think Kushnood Butt fits Smug’s style. I know he typically picks characters that look like him in games but his moves don’t really fit Smug

I think Kevin or Dong is the best fit. Rushdown and big, executionally demanding combos.
Nahhh he needs to stick with Marco and lock him down first.. Marco himself has so many moves that don't get used. Plus he's one of the hardest hitting characters.
Garou is the best fighting game I ever played. I want to see more people play it.
I'm always down to watch you play and learn a new fighting game. The many of us who aren't good enough or can't even play fighting games live through talented players like yourself vicariously. The last time I even saw this game was when the Super Best Friends group played it years ago in a video and I was always curious about it. Of course the only people still playin it are animals but, I'm down to see you learn to tame these beasts.

Secondly, you're exactly right. This was SNK's version of Third Strike. I only played it a few times myself but it is definitely fun.

yo i remeber this game being in the arcade back when i was young in my home country barbados . yo..... marco japaneese name is Khushnood Butt. he has a special thats like the raging demon. i remember saving up 5 dollars in quarters to play this game. Smug you just made my eyes water reminiscing my guy much love and big respects.
he does not have a special like the raging demon lol, the one closest to it is freeman with his counter super where the screen turns black and he starts slashing you everywhere. The reason for the name change was because they based it off an MMA fighting with a similar name. So just like Street Fighter changed the shadowloo trio's names cause of M. Bison imitating Mike Tyson.

It was at 8:40 you can see the last moments beginning. When Freeman got the P and was on the defensive it was over. That Freeman move can only be done when someone attacks with a normal attack to in order for it to work. It's wild.

Don't feel bad. Same shit happened to me a couple weeks ago. Decided to hop on Garou and ran into a high level player who absolutely bodied me.
Afterwards I just went to the ps5 dashboard and sat there for a couple minutes contemplating life.

Yes! One of my all time favorites! You said you like Kim, right? This game has two! Jae Hoon plays similar to the one you're used to, but I think you'll like Dong Hwan. He's got a really useful overhead super. Level one version is as good as it needs to be!

yeah unfortunately as the weakest character in the game you're gonna have to rely on fundamentals and guard cancel and feint cancel a lot too haha... learning to be patient also

Well the way Rog players hold down 3punch or 3kicks is similar to Marco charge move which is the only reason I think he is an OK char cause that fully charged is very good. But you would probably like Kevin more as you saw he got some crazy tech like Dudley dipping fireballs
That first guy didn't surprise me that much because I already knew Kevin is dumb, but the Freeman going off is a shock since I think he's supposed to be the worst character in the game. Though unless I'm mistaken, nobody is truly bad in Garou.
Honestly it doesn't matter which character they choose when you're a newbie at the game. Even if you're great at fighting games, you have to learn how to play Garou.

Yes please. Play more MotW. Terry is dope. Rock is dope. Gato is super fun. Garou reminds me of Soul Calibur 2. There are so many viable characters, I found I could make almost any one work.
But Dong Hwan is the best. No question asked.

Have you seen your Marco on mugen?,they did an amazing job transforming into a KOF XI character,it's awesome.
Hold Strong Punch/Kick. After like 20 seconds you charge up a hidden move to level 3 and then when you let go of Punch or kick you will get a pretty sweet attack and the kick verson combos into the punch version

garou is actually somewhat broken when you understand what moves can be cancelled WITH NO COST and spam the heck of them. I would stay away from this turf if i were you until you know how this game's footsie work, or you will just get bodied and learn nothing
i second what was said here. the kims in this game if you time their cancels are scary as hell . you press a button can lead to half health especially against fire foot .
he also could like not fight A rankers off the bat lol just play d and c rankers while learning
the cost is having good execution buddy. You can't just unsafely break and do feint cancels and expect not to be punished
Marco is actually one of the strongests and hits the hardest, he has so many moves that don't actually get used
he's a very solid character but not one of the best. Very well rounded character and he hits hard. The best Marco player our there (Tamura) uses all his moves very wisely ;)

Garou is SNK's lost gem.. it's really godlike!! If you like Kim may you try Jae Hoon, who is basically Kim with fire.. but my compatriot Marco is top tier.. that was a nice choice!

I've been playing this game daily for two months, and the learning curve is very rewarding. I like Terry as he is very offensive. It was nice seeing a Freeman player, he is not that often played but I like his style ;)
I like to think I have a decent Kevin in Garou. Scrub is doing some really tricky stuff! Especially with the guard cancel hellrotor cancel 2+ab.
