Ultimate Toyota Street Truck Build - Making It A SLEEPER - pt 4

- In this video I continue work on my 1988 Toyota pickup. This old work truck started life as a carbureted 22r base model that had no options, with no power steering or air conditioning, no fuel injection, no radio, and no passenger mirror from the factory! I swap over the entire 2rz to the pickup. In an attempt to fix it I couldn't find an afforable stock replacement, but found a wrecked 1999 Toyota tacoma for $500 and figured out exactly what I wanted to do with the pickup. I completely stripped the tacoma down to a bare shell and started transferring everything possible to the 88' pickup.
At the end of part one, I have both trucks stripped and I've started the long process of fitting all the new parts onto the old chassis. In part two, I start work on the drivetrain, I get the transmission mounted and move on to making custom engine mounts and fabricating a complete oil pan to clear the chassis components.
In part three, I pickup with having found quiet a bit of metal flake in my 2rz oil pan. after seeing that, I pull all the rod and main bearings and replace them, so I can have confidence in the engine. After completeing that I move onto assembling the truck and getting all the odds and ends wrapped up. Come along to finish the swap, boost the truck, and take it to the dyno and track!

New subscriber here. Awesome build!! What have you done with the brakes and suspension? Keep up the great work.
Thanks for the sub! The brakes and suspension are completely stock, but work really well with the power!
Lift and sas up front ! Would be a dream! Already is !
I have a project like that in the works, Stay tuned!
Hey mate I just watched your vid where you had it tuned and got 249hp just wondering was it running the standard ECU? Cheers
Yeah I was, unfortunately you can’t tune them tho
Are you running a aftermarket ecu now? How did it run with the standard ecu? I know you can’t tune the standard ones.I’m looking at the Haltech one.but I just want to run the standard one for now
Amazing show bro
Thanks for the support!
Don't scrap the rest of the 1999 Tacoma! Save the good parts that are left on it!
I did, and have a pile of parts!
Another new subscriber here in Western Australia. To say that I am impressed, is an understatement. Great job.
My 4runner build started with a base model 88 2wd that was idintical to yours. After a SAS, a 2tr-fe swap and splicing the back half of a 1st gen 4runner body onto the back, it looks alittle different now.
I’ve been tossing around the idea of throwing my solid axle under the front of this thing, but am not sure that’s the route I want to go
Oh wow, you have all kinds of clearance for the exhaust. I am imressed about how eaay this swop was. Good job man.
Was both very easy and very difficult at the same time, lots of little stuff that wasn’t “hard” but time consuming and tedious.
Excellent. 💯💯💯💯
Thank you! Cheers!
Who are you having tune your truck? Also are you running a different ecu?
The factory ECU, and the factory ECU is locked. I’m just looking to see what it makes, can’t do much for tuning.
@@redlineranch. ah gotcha. After watching your video part of me wants to go turbo, but the other part of me just wants it to be reliable since it’s gonna be a daily/trail rig. 😂. Love the build tho man.
@@vang1203 I’m 1800 miles in and haven’t hand any issues, and I absolutely beat the piss out of it
