Eliso Virsaladze - is a genius pianist, she is a master of the highest class, possessing all the necessary arsenal to perform this devilish waltz at the proper level, and she succeeded in this task so much that I want to listen again and again. . .The fantastic technique, deep understanding of the genius composer's style, bright, passionate sound and, of course, the charisma that distinguishes Liszt's compositions. . .
For me, this artist is incomparable; she is is one of the greatest living pianists and I pay tribute to the sheer risk-taking and full-on passion she brings to this notoriously tricky work - one just HAS to take the risks, but also to have the technique and vision to bring it off. I have only heard her once live - in Frankfurt-am-Main in 1988 - when she played Kinderszenen with extraordinary depth, intensity and apparent simplicity. This was followed by an exceptionally moving Kreiseriana and, after the Half, a performance of the Chopin op 10 Etudes which I have never heard more authoritatively, tastefully and masterfully played - and I have heard all of the greats of the last 50 years. The encore then was the Romanza from the Mozart K.281 sonata, and I will never forget it. A great pianist, artist, and human, and I believe quite a hard task-master as a teacher!
