I had the pleasure of meeting him while i was working on his Cancer charity. I'm a massive Arsenal fan, and he didn't just say hello, he spent a good 10 minutes talking to me a telling stories about his career. He is a genuine nice guy and a proper football legend.
Was Wilson still teaching while (correction, whilst!) playing for the Arsenal ? A London friend used to say that he taught Charlie George . . . I see on Wikipedia that Charlie went to a school in Holloway, so it's possible.
When he touches his daughter, who would die of cancer that very month, is very poignant... When Bob was "surprised"by Aspel, he said he couldn't do the programme because Anna was so ill, but she was determined to be there and for the next 10 days the adrenaline hid her symptoms. She died just before her 32nd birthday...
The way she looked at him when he touched her face 😪 so sad too that within a year of this, Helen Rollason also died of cancer and jill dando was murdered.
Absolutely brilliant episode. As a gooner since the early 60's Bob has been a hero to me all my life, more or less. If you guys haven't read it his book about a life in the beautiful game is brilliant. Willow will always be an inspiration to me - and it was so bitter sweet to see guys like Geordie Armstrong on the programme too. But...the best moment, was Bert Trauptman. What the after show party must have been like. Just, wow. Thank you so much for the upload. Tens of thousands of Arsenal fans need to see this.
A number of people seem to think Bob Wilson is dead. He is still alive. There is another Bob Wilson who was a professional goalkeeper who is dead, but he never played for Arsenal.
I find it weird George Graham would have accepted the invitation to be a part of this programme considering he was managing Spurs at the time, clearly still bitter from being sacked by Arsenal.
8:50 WTF is Peter Storey ? I only watched bore Wilson's TIYL in hopes of a yarn from Stores. For that matter, where's Ray Kennedy - the man who won the 71 league for them ?
@Hi Henry Storey and Kennedy were vital members of the 71 team. Why aren't they there with all the rest of them. Sammy Nelson only got a few games. Marinello even less. But still TIYL invites both of them to the party. Something's wrong there.
@Hi Henry Available (!) ? Storey is out in France and only needs a wedge for travel expenses and new suit & shoes. Kennedy is up in a bungalow in New Hartley, Northumberland. Travel for him would take more as he has Parkinson's and you'd really need a nurse close by. But the cost is well within a TV production budget. So it's really not so much availability as stinginess by the producers that kept Storey and Kenn away. The BBC is taking over from Arsenal as the cheapest show in town when it comes to spending on heroes.
Bob Wilson what an absolute legend not just as a footballer but as a man

Funny you should say that they are but not with aspel it's either susanna Reid, Kate Garroway or Fiona Bruce
@@classicsportclassictiyl8547 Its not the same, Eamonn and Michael were the best
@@conorbrierley1 who would be the best bet of the 3
