    Awesome video, guys! Great pacing, editing, and food b-roll. Interesting concept too. Restaurants with fewer Google reviews are also probably less likely to cater to tourists, since people leaving reviews on Google are more likely to be foreigners. So this could be a good way to make sure you’re eating like a local rather than a tourist!🙂 (at least in places where Google reviews aren’t widely used by locals)

    This is so inspiring. When I travel I like to ask servers in restaurants or bars I go to where they like to eat and drink. It has served me very, very well.

    I absolutely love watching the two of you. You two inspired my stop at the Ho'omaluhia garden this past August, and then I learned Josh was from Wisconsin and I was hooked. The more amazing thing is, I decided to plan a trip to Japan just 3 days prior to your posting of the "3 days in Tokyo on a Budget" video. I could not believe the timing. Now I feel like I am traveling with you again as I plan my next trip. Looking forward to it :)

    The dish you had with the fried tofu (aburaage) is called kitsune udon and the tofu is often seasoned with a soy-sugar mixture, made as pouches and mostly filled with rice varieties it is called inari sushi.

    • @alexanderleavitt2888
      @alexanderleavitt2888 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think Tokyo banned the practice in small restaurants due to holding the Olympics, but outside of Tokyo you still get a bunch of smokers in Japanese-style cafes and smaller restaurants.

    • @TalesFromOurPocket
      @TalesFromOurPocket ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When we were there last month, we learned that smoking is no longer allowed, but there are exceptions if you have good ventilation and put up a sign to let everyone know it's allowed. If I recall correctly. 😊
