The guy has been a bit of a bass monster for over a decade. I remember him from the sputnikmusic forums and remember when he released a two hand tapped version of Donna Lee. Was cool rediscovering him on TH-cam a couple of years ago.

Alex D: The train of progress keeps going, but almost everyone eventually picks their stop and gets off. Someday, you may pick your stop as well, but for now, it’s a great ride!
The interesting question would be where would it start to be mistaken for straight eighth notes? 3+2 is still clearly uneven to my ears but what about 9+8? :) Though at that stage, I guess it's no longer a matter of counting (humanely impossible) but a matter of subtle feel.
The music is interesting, the playing is awesome, but what I really like the most is how down to earth and friendly the personalities are. These are people I want to hang out with.
Just watch Neely spin out on harmonies and you'll see who's the pro. Being a pro and wanting mainstream "same key" harmonies aren't always the same thing.
The traditional Hora is a 5/4 swing *exactly* like this (1-2-3, 1-2, 1-2-3, 1-2) although much slower. They’ve generally been moved to 3/4 or 3/8 to simplify the transcription and reading. But “swinging 5” has been in the Balkans for centuries.
yep, and that's how hip swing really goes too, not the cheesy dotted 8th stuff he said was swing. I love how the young artists feel like they're inventing something new - when all they're doing is discovering the stuff that's not on the pop radio.
I'm sure cavemen figured the rhythm out 100,000 years ago while banging two rocks together. So what? Does that mean we should never ever ever recycle it?
I've always enjoyed Adam's ability to explain more involved or complicated musical concepts and theory in simple to understand terms. He's a really good teacher. I knew he was a talented player, but I was still surprised during parts of this video with his speed and how just basic and simple he makes it seem! The drummer was great too! I'd love to sit in a room with them while they jam.. Ideally, I'd like to play too, if they felt like handicapping their abilities so I could keep up! Haha. Scott- Thank you for playing a role in bringing this magic to the masses, sir! Sending Peace & Love from Missouri, USA -Todd
Yes, Adam is a great teacher of basic technique and the more complicated parts of music theory. He's a little tricky to keep up with sometimes, but it's nothing that the good ol' "pause-and-rewind" can't fix.
Hi everyone, I subscribed to SBL more than a month ago and I watched Adam's entire course recently. It is definitely an amazing/mind-blowing course. He goes so in depth in such great topics. A lot of respect for Adam's knowledge and Scott's academy. Kudos to both. Jairo
Hey, one thing that helped me a lot to feel quintuplet swing (or even septuplet swing) is to count using takadimi system or indian counting system (check out ben levin's great video on that)To count 5 or really 3+2 use Ta ki ta = 3 Ta ka = 2 That Way you CAN count way faster than with regular numbers
It's not the mic. The whole video (except the Scott parts) is raised in pitch a little. The song was in a higher key than it should've been, but not faster, so the speed is the same. And you're right about hearing it in Adam's voice. Not sure why this was done, I mean it's not like the video has copyrighted music or anything...?
Jake Sachs I noticed he sounded odd and now that you mention copyright, that might actually be the issue. The bots TH-cam uses to comb out copyright infringements might automatically mute the music in this video. Also, I’m not sure if Adam’s band has had their material released through any label but if so, he might have little to no control over these matters.
Julian Nanez As far as I know, Sungazer hasn't signed with any label. But even if they were signed that wouldn't apply here because this video's a live performance.
Raven James you misunderstand, he's talking about Adam's videos where he edits them plenty and without them, just straight filming, you can see his introverted nature.
Thats crazy, ive been influenced by dilla’s whole unquantized drums so heavily, and i didnt realize we could put that into a time signature, i just had 4/4 and shifted some hats or drums an 8th note or something over
