In January 2020 Caleb Ewan came to town and ripped my legs off in the Saturday fast bunch ride down the coast. In December 2022 Caleb was back at it, shredding through our local Tuesday World Champs ride here in Noosa. In this video you will see me follow Caleb's wheel up the Corkscrew and then attempt to jump across to his wheel in a major leg tearing moment, for all involved.

6 yrs ago at the Tour Down Under, after watching Caleb out sprint Peter Sagan for yet another stage win and then podium presentation, I rode back to town, At the very first set of lights I pulled up beside Caleb on his ride back to town after his podium preso. I congratulated him on his win and by the time the light turned green there would have been another dozen enthusiast cyclists pulling away from the lights with him. Now you’d think after a ~150km race stage he would be in total cool down mode on his way to his hotel but even his cool down pace was enough to leave that bunch of weekend warriors flagging in his wake as they tried just to stay with him. He’s cruising and we’re in the red... It’s no surprise that these pros are in a whole other league. But at the same time most of them are so down to earth and in what other sport can you end up in their company doing the same thing, riding your bike?
True but also it's their life, they don't do another job, they do very little else hobby wise whereas most serious amateurs study or hold down a 9 to 5.
Super cool that Caleb comes out to these rides, also another reason why I love cycling, not sure which other sport you’d get one of the top pro’s mingling with other people that just enjoy the sport!
Isn’t amazing to ride with a Pro, to get a little taste of how fragile our fitness level is! LOL!!. Can you imagine, keeping this pace up for 3 weeks at the world tour level.

Agreed 3weeks and 4-5hrs + each day. This was 24km haha
When the World Tour teams were racing my home roads in the USA, I was sure the sprinters would be dragging over the steep local climbs. They blew through that shit faster than all the local "pro" climbers, no problem, after well over 100 miles, and led out a 45 mph sprint into town. Guys were staying in the 53 over all the short climbs. It was an educational moment.
and member caleb makes up the back end of the field and is protected and carried by teammates so he can do his thing a 200m to go, someone like remco would have just left them all for dead

What a cool experience! I have had the pleasure of riding briefly...merely seconds with Higuita from Bora, Martinez from Ineos, and Uran from EF in my home town......these pro guys fly. Amazing video
I'm in vacation en el oriente and El mostro flew past me as well lolol only saw Martinez in the opposite direction so far.

I went to the Noosa Tuesday Worlds ride in 2019 and Caleb was there then too! Such a good loop, I got dropped off the back pretty good after the Gyndler climb.
Man, and he's not even a good climber, he was just ripping the legs off you guys. Just another reminder how good these guys are.

Great vid Cam, prior to getting married & turning Pro Caleb’s old GF was in Perth. Needless to say the Xmas period was turned into a thrash fest of cafe racer/pros leg ripping off rides. Looking forward to a great 2023 of watching your journey & the success it brings you unfold..👊

You did pretty well and Caleb is a good sport. I wish you'd have been right in his draft when he took off so that you wouldn't have to pass all the riders before having to bridge all the way up to him. I cannot help to think that was a chaotic ride. 35-40 riders being on the edge for most of the time and taking quite a bit of the road. Here in the UK this is a recipe for disaster. Great video though.

Road bikers are incredible . i ride my e bike on a paved forest trail in the Black forest and routinely get blown of the trail by these guys . it's about 4 km long and i get passed in the beginning and then about half way they are coming back in the other direction and before i can finish the trail i get passed AGAIN . 😂

I don't know, back before I had the legs of a jellyfish, the only time I ever saw pros contend a group ride sprint was on the occasion that a smaller domestic team was seemingly practicing their lead out while on a pre-Tour of California tuneup ride. Otherwise they did their best to get in a workout while avoiding stupid shananagins. Takes me back 🙂

Tucson. After getting know them there just like you and me and great resources to improve my cycling.

It's mad. just puts into perspective the gulf between some very strong amateurs and a pro like Caleb, he's not a climber although obviously has enough punch to see the guys off, incredible power.
These were not big climbs, so they suit a punchy rider. He certainly made us all look like amateurs though.
