Honestly, I think it's easy to get void salt, just keep raiding the college of winter hold and alchemy shops, sometime the wizards in solitude and markarth have them lying around sometimes too
Fastest way to level up Alteration is to use telekinesis on an object, and while still holding the object with the spell, enter the map and fast travel to another location. The farther the travel the more experience you receive in Alteration. You can level 15 to 100 in just two fast travels from Winterhold to Markarth and back again, using this exploit.
Solitude windmill tower (the dockside passageway) works well too. Just like the alcove in Whiterun, walking in and out works just as well. Also these methods are easier when in survival mode (no fast travel). Have never tried to duplicate with Serana, she does have some sass so...she might not put up with being bossed around. I play on PS4&5 can't drop money so don't think that'll work
I found a even more efficient way to. After your follower picks up the item, Take it from there inventory, drop it again, have them pick it up. It's much more useful in the early duping since you don't have to fast travel back and forth for just one.

@ShorkWasTaken I told lid to wait and she kept following and when I popped back in everything was duplicated. I figured it wouldn't work if she followed me. I was just shocked
I use the area outside the gate and then under the walkway in the stream near Warmaiden's. Then just go back and forth through the gate to get the loot.
I'm not to sure. I used to be able to do it in the Hearthfire houses but I have not been able to replicate it in almost a decade. I dropped some black soul gems in the main walk-in area and had my follower pick them up and we left. Every time after I returned to the house there was 4 black soul gems. It didn't matter if I picked them up or someone else did but they were always there. You can try and replicate that if the city dupe does not work.
Not really most items can be easily or it may take a few tries. The more items done at a time increases the chances of a dupe from what I've noticed though.
This will come in handy for alchemy training and or in general with rare ingredients (looking at void salts mainly).

You don't have to teleport. You can just walk out and then back in the front gate.
Fast travel is quicker
I use the gate too... I think beter...
Fast travel has slower load times, although in my experience the gate is more reliable for items to still be there. Both do work though
I drop everything at the gate and then just walk out and back in again. Follower pick up, rinse and repeat. I also drop at increments of 5.
It’s actually faster to warp 😂 Both work but the icon to the stables is so close and you don’t waste time walking

Do followers ignore weight limits for picking up items this way?
Yes, the weight limit is ignored when they pick up items from gut floor or looting storage containers.

I believe it would. Some items are easy to duplicate while others are not. The more items you have the better the odds of them duping.

I’m on the base edition of the game, when I walk back into Whiterun there is nothing on the ground. Is it because I’m not playing special edition?
It's works on any edition you just need the dawnguard dlc installed

Patches tend to fix bugs. If I didn't want a bug patched I wouldn't install the patch.
