Thanks, this is super useful. The menus of the SPD are vast! Just picked up a PG Spark Live, SPD plugged into, with mic and guitars etc. Sweet one/two man band set up.
I literally have not looked at a menu yet and I'm getting pretty far by just dabbling, but my ADD gets the best of me!...so thank you for this very useful information, subscribe and thumbs up mate, I'm sure I will be hitting you up for questions! also...I have found Roland's support team to be very helpful and within a day they have solved numerous problems I have encountered. Thank you for you knowledge, cheers!
Thanks a lot for this video. I'm glad it's possible to adjust start/end/loop points, I couldn't find the info anywhere :) I'm thinking of getting an SPD SX Pro. About recording from pads, does that mean you can resample anything you play on the SPD SX Pro, without being connected to a computer or recorder? That'd be amazing. Does everything gets recorded, like even fx tweaks etc? What's the maximum recording lenght? I'm excited about the Pad Sequencer. At first I thought you could load any sample for each of the 16 steps and repeat onto each pad, then realized it was only samples from current pads, so I was bit disapointed but I guess I could quickly switch to another presets to have another set of pad sequenced samples. Can you have several pad sequencers? Would be cool to have different motifs on each pad, uncluding odd polyrhytmic stuff if some are set to 3 and other 2, etc... Cheers
Hey just purchased one today and still working out the looping side of things, this was very helpful. Is there also a way to record another sample layer over the recorded sample? Or is there an other looping method where you can play one pad and let it loop and play another pad to layer over it?
Hiya, so glad it was helpful for you. I would imagine you could create a loop, and then trigger that back in the recording mode and play other pads over the top of it? If that makes sense? 😊
Hi, how can you change the setting when you have 3 loops in a kit, the first loop is running and when you hit another loop the first one turns off automatically. Now they all stay on. Thanks in advance from the Netherland
Hey man thanks for posting this! I’m learning more and more about the sample pad as I go. Question: Any tips on getting it to connect to an iPad for GarageBand? I have an iRig with MIDI functionality and currently troubleshooting. Appreciate any help. I have Ableton but trying to use on the ipad.
Hi mate, you're very welcome. I use Logic Pro on my ipad, it's about £5 a month and it's honestly excellent, I've used MIDI through my interface into my ipad through Logic but haven't tried it with the SPD yet to be honest, should work great though
Great hack, but man would it be convenient if they implemented an actual multi-track looper in a firmware upgrade. Given that Boss(/Roland) already leads the looping game, it's not like they don't have the expertise. Maybe they're worried it'll step on the toes of the RC-series, but if I were Roland I'd be worried about the Korg MPS-10 with its extra pad, full-fledged looper and round robin capabilities. Shoot, even the Alesis Strike Multipad (from 2018!) has a looper.
I think the prices have come down quite a bit since its release, I think because each gen of the Spd lasts for so long it's pretty reasonable if you use it a lot 🙂
Thanks, this is super useful.

You're very welcome mate! Sounds like a nice setup there mate 👌

can you possibly connect a guitar (Boss loop station) for example to the back of the unit and trigger a loop that way?
Is there a way to edit the recording itself? Like speed it up or slow it down?
Hi mate, unfortunately there isn't 😕
Greetings from Canada! Thanks for the informative video! t-minus 3 weeks and this pad will be in my hands! I claim subscriber slot#285!
Heya, thanks so much for subscribing, more content coming very soon, so glad you enjoyed the video 🙂
What does the numbers start point and end point represent? Is it possible to translate them to time so that my loop matches the click?
Hiya mate, there's no way of tempo syncing unfortunately, it's one of the biggest oversights on the Pro to be honest...
@ okay thanks for reply
A grid overlay from the click would be incredibly useful for editing accurately and quickly.
@@chrisandjenniferkaufmann8197 Yeah it would mate
I already have a loop on my USB stick (.wav file), how do I set it so when I hit the pad, the audio loops rather than just play once and then end?
Hi mate, it's just in the patch settings at the top of the menu, I'll try to do a video too for ya 🙂

Hi there, I'll try to take a look into this and make a video when I next record (hopefully next week) if I can figure it out 👍
Regards,
Harry
How can you lower and increase the tempo on a roland spd-sx pro please

Thanks! Can the sounds received on the audio-in port be looped or is that just for backing tracks?
You could record them using the audio input and then set them to loop mate 🙂😎
How do you get to tempo sync on a Roland spd sx pro?
Hi Antony, I have a video about that here...th-cam.com/video/Sn6HtKRHz94/w-d-xo.html
Unfortunately there is currently no way of tempo syncing
Thanks for the info

Yeah it sure would be useful, I don't know why they didn't honestly, I'm sure the SPD-SX could do it 🤔🤣
It's a pity no quantize function
Yeah I agree mate
It's mental how much they charge for this device, most overpriced piece of equipment in general.

I picked up a demo, this thing is amazing!!!
