      We have no plans to change it ever, so everyone is stuck with it I guess! I’m glad it resonates with you! Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Hi guys!
    Dad and I had lunch with your video. It was fun listening to you
    Two talk about your collections.
    I’m so impressed with the way you are building your collections and the thought you’ve given to “the finish line.”
    So proud of you, Love, Mom

    Brian and Alan, thank you for giving me some fantastic hobby food for thought! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Oh, and as icing on the cake, plus the cake, plus the ice cream, I got to see, once again, the glorious and rare 1997 Finest Embossed Refractor of Greg Maddux! So happy for you, my collecting brother! 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

      Thanks, Adam! I feel like that may be a card that gets shown quite a bit on my channel in the future - At least, once I get it in hand! Eye candy like that doesn’t come by too often! Or, we could call it “eye cake and icing with ice cream,” but that doesn’t have the same ring to it somehow! Thanks for watching and commenting, my collecting brother!

    I think boundaries are super important to maintaining focus in the hobby. There’s conceptual boundaries and limitations you put on your collecting style, which are super important. There are also physical limitations and boundaries you can impose on yourself. I have four shoe boxes, six binders. a nice curio cabinet and a pinhole board filled with my collection. Those are my physical boundaries. When my shoeboxes get filled, I thin them out. When my curio shelves get too thick with slabs, the herd gets thinned. Choosing your containers and not expanding past them is key to keeping focus for me

    • @HighPopProfessor
      @HighPopProfessor  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Well put! At some point, the collection can / will encroach on the physical space available. And because each person’s living situation is different, that physical boundary is definitely one that should be a kind of guard rail one has in place to control the size, scope, and depth of a collection. Great comment, Mookie!

      Thanks, Joe! Glad you enjoyed the conversation! I do wonder how many collectors really pause and stop to think more deeply about where their collection is headed in X years, or the “endgame”. Also, I’m curious how many collectors consider what % “complete” their current collection is. I’d be curious to hear responses from various collectors about their thoughts about these topics.

      @@HighPopProfessor I may have to make a video discussing both further. Your video definitely got me thinking about both questions. Man i really look forward to this show i could listen for hrs on end. For me I have no finish line, I have mini accomplishments in my collection and in my life along the way ,but my collection will never be complete. I love thinking about all this stuff though. Now like you guys I do give myself rules or it can get crazy 😂😂. Ok let me keep listening 😉🤙🤙

    • @HighPopProfessor
      @HighPopProfessor  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The general idea of a collection being “complete” is a satisfying one. I can imagine walking through a museum of cards (like some of the displays at the National) and appreciating a featured collection. But the notion that I personally would at some point stop obtaining cards, upgrading, etc. makes me sad. I can see myself slowing down, but I’m not sure about stopping entirely - I think of collecting as always a work in progress, so I like the sound of your “no finish line” approach. Maybe for a math teacher like me, it’s closer to an asymptote where I continually approach my goal but never actually get there. 😂 And NOW I’m sounding more like Adam from Vintage Sanctuary! 🤣🤣🤣
      I’m glad you like our Brothers’ Duo videos, Dylan!

    Enjoyed the latest episode of Brothers' Duo!
    Lots of Banzai tree talk though, you Zen Gardeners you 🤪
    I'm 61.76% complete in my collection: 14,974/24,245.
    That second number slightly changes though over time.
    Not too bad to be 33 and 61.76% of the way done!
    Too early to tell where it will go next, but I hope between my two sons, and my two nephews- someone will inherit a HECK of a start to their collection!

    • @HighPopProfessor
      @HighPopProfessor  8 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      That’s amazing that you have your completion percentage to the nearest hundredth of a percent! 😂😂😂 FANTASTIC! With those numbers, I like the outlook for the completion of your collection, Jake! Yeah, I forget sometimes that this isn’t a gardening channel - maybe I should ease up on the Bonzai metaphor. It just works so well though, so maybe not! 🤣
      Thanks for watching!

    Midlife recommended this video. I did some quick math. My collection is about 96% done volume wise. Theres about 2400 cards left on my wish list. Money wise its less than 10% complete. It may be unattainable, but a 35 Bronco Nagurski is on my wishlist.

      I’ll have to thank Graig for the increase in traffic to this video and our channels! While your % numbers may seem a bit lopsided at first, I don’t think they’re all that unreasonable or even atypical. I look at my own venture back into collecting in September 2021, and I was beginning very small with acquiring cheap lots and sticking with pretty much exclusively

    I think the greatest barometer of what Shohei Ohtani is doing is he remains 100% peerless. It has been 7 years since he came into the league that has always seen teams copying breakout success. There is no one TRYING to do what Shohei is doing, let alone with the wild success he has had. 30 owners have every incentive in the world to find another unicorn… and they’re drafting players that might come along one day, but in SEVEN YEARS since Shohei landed there are ZERO MLB players who even try to do what he does. Peerless achievement that transcends the sport. Ok I’m done.
