Also, to have that one friend (a true friend) in his corner was all he needed to believe in himself. This movie is worthy of watching again and again. It was very funny how Silas was behaving later breaks my heart seeing his brothers and father treating him badly 😢😢😢😢😢. What a father couldn't do a stranger did it this life never look down on anyone. Instead of helping and encouraging him there were busy making funny of his mental case. The way Silas's brothers kept yelling his name with such animus & disregard made my blood boil. I'm so angry & my heart💔breaks. This is the worst fear as a parent 2 a son with special needs & is why I tirelessly teach him everything I can so he is as independent as possible. I explain 2 him that there r good people in this world but I also prepare him 4 a hard, cruel, intolerant world. I emphasize through social stories & through other means that he has rights, 2 not accept disrespect & 2 advocate 4 himself the best he can so when I'm no longer around 2 monitor & observe how he is getting along he is familiar & not like a deer in headlights. Awareness is key if only others were obliged 2 respect & tolerate people with neurodivergence. Accommodations, modifications, accessibility, & accountability are necessary 4 a more loving, diverse and inclusive society that would embrace unique individuals like Silas that can & do make a difference. Here again this post is dedicated 2 all the brave souls with learning differences & the love of my life Duey. One day @ a time ❤

Knowledge about disabilities allows us to be informed and gives us an understanding of how to communicate respectfully with a person who may have a diagnosis. At the end of the day, they are still humans and should be treated the way we want others to treat us.😍
