  • Displaced students from Gaza expressed their pride and gratitude at the solidarity shown by students at universities across the U.S who joined the nationwide Gaza protest encampment movement.
Nawar Diab, who was studying English and French literature at Al-Azhar University before the war, encouraged the students to persist with their movement.
"I’m proud of them and I’m telling them to keep going despite all the arresting and all the oppression that they face because apparently these days when someone says something right or does something right everyone stands against them but we should keep going, we should raise our voices because we will win at the end," she said.
Demonstrations have rocked U.S. universities this week, with confrontations between students, counter protesters and police.
The protests follow the deadly Oct. 7 attack on southern Israel by Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip, which killed 1,200 people and saw dozens taken hostage, and an ensuing Israeli offensive that has killed about 34,000 and created a humanitarian crisis.
