Sepia seems to be the closest match to the Awaken Realms product. But I could certainly see using other shades for a contrast between say the player and the enemies, or different classes of enemies
I tried a few different ones, I think that's on the video, but so far Sepia seems to work best. I do like the idea of different tones for different groups of miniatures, like characters, monsters, minions, etc. I'm not sure if I'm going to stick to this method, or paint them all like I'm doing for Massive Darkness 2. One thing I can say is this: Plain grey plastic has become unacceptable to me! I look at it now and shake my head, judging it harshly! (Grin). I'm getting snooty about my games. Smile.
Im also experimenting to recreate the official Etherfields sundrop. For tainted Grail they said it’s a beige base color and a brown shade over it, so I guess I will try it with Vallejo Beige and maybe Aggrax Earthshade over it. The only problem with the shades: they do result in a very glossy finish which I don’t like… will have to put a ultra matte varnish over it. Alternatively I’m thinking about slapchopping them. P.S.: The 4 minis you said were the main heroes („dreamers“) in his game are actually the upgraded ones. ;) The 4 starting dreamers are in the smaller tray.

I've used this method on my Tainted Grail. In the end my personal preference is Citadel Wraithbone primer followed by Army Painter' Dark Tone and then Army Painter's Strong Tone.

Sascha! Yep! keeps falling over. I might have to adjust the base. I used to glue pennies under certain Warhammer models to make them stand up.
