Rick has done a truly excellent job finishing up that model. It's a work of art. And the attention to detail?! He integrated the actual switches and lights of the RX into the faux control panels of the cockpit; brilliant.
DeepPastry He did an excellent job indeed. You might want to see this new video I just shot a couple of weeks ago th-cam.com/video/SLjA6WUrD2A/w-d-xo.html
I did really enjoy watching that RC Huey. I much prefer realistic looking RC helicopters that fly in a realistic manner over those RC "acrobatics" helicopters that flies like mosquitos high on acid.
Thank you so much for spreading the love about this video sir. When I was filming it, a few people thought I was crazy for going so close, I wanted to expose this beauty and glad real pilots like yourself get to appreciate Rick's creation. One day I hope to take a flight in a real one.
This is amazing! I was a crewchief In nam and then went to flight school. Ended up flying scouts. Flew uh1h in instrument phase I'll always love the HUEY.
The story behind this helicopter is like no other. I am never tired of hearing stories from former pilots or peeps who worked on them. Thanks for watching the video.
Thank you Michael for this very precious advise. I can tell you, filming that close was a one time thing and the only reason why I did it aside being a pilot is I believe in Rick's flying skills. I have been in the park with him many times and know how he flies. Filming into the wind didn't help at all with the camera mic, usually it sounds better than that. I read about that 19 year old in NY, that was a very sad story to read. A true lesson for all of us who fly rc model aircrafts. God bless
I was waiting for that Huey to start firing projectiles at the camera guy. I bet if filmed at lower angles it would look life size. Absolutely Beautiful RC with a very responsible Pilot. Sounds Like a Big boy & The Soldiers look real in there too NICE WORK MAN. 👍👍👍👍♥❗🇺🇸
Thank you Miguel. Rick, the owner and pilot did an excellent job on this bird. I have an other video on the channel you must watch. Rc vs the real thing, the concept will intrigue you. Don’t forget to subscribe.
I really love how the pilot incorporate all the switches inside the cockpit and the engine start up procedure is nice and clean.. what a beautiful machine very scale like. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for appreciating the idea. When I started flying, I looked and looked and never found a documentary type video on building a scale rc heli offering real info like this. A pleasure to hear from people like you.
There are great helis out there, keep your eyes open. Indeed, this one was simply well built, Rick did a great job. Thanks for watching, don't forget to subscribe.
Thanks for the kind words, you are kind. After spending years in front of the camera, it would be a shame not to know just a little bit about filming. The next one I film should be better :-)
Glad you appreciate the work that goes in this bird, according to Rick, it took him a while to build and this bird is huge. Last I spoke to him about selling, I believe he might let it go for 10k, of course for someone who will give it the same kind of love. Inbox me if that price range works for you. One love
Thanks for saying this. When I saw this helicopter on the field I had a hard time believing such models existed. I was new at flying, imagine how much powerful of a sight that was for a new pilot who has never seen a turbine rc anything at that point. I am so glad so many people appreciate this video. I had to get very close with the video cam to those spinning blades and it was all worth it :-)
I don't know anything about Thompson twins, but worked with The Bassbin twins, did a few shows with them and also released a single called "We Play Music " back in 2000. Thanks for passing through.
Absolutely the best I have every seen. You have done the old girl proud. I crewed one for 16 years in the Army and this brought back , any good memories. Thanx
Glad you enjoyed the video, it was a little risky filming it but had to so fanatics like yourself could enjoy the hard work that went into building a bird like this. I know Rick would probably let it go for 10k.
Finding this video has made my day - thanks Kevens! Amazing using a miniature turbine in a model helicopter really successfully like that. What I loved the most was seeing handsome black guys right into r/c flying!
Right you are my friend, no one should get too close to these blades while this bird is in fight. As a flyer myself, that was the closest I would allow myself to get in order to bring you guys these close up shots.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us here Gr. Rick indeed did a great job building and flying this beautiful bird. I have an other video on the site you should check out, from start to a very close up hover. I think you'll like it.
Wow, phenomenal. At many points while hovering its almost like you forget its a film of a RC heli, Very good details and some awesome work on that bird.
lol, a steady cam!, good one. Glad you like the video Patrick, 3d flying is good on the computer since it helps with orientation. Scale flying is where it's at for me too. Thanks for watching and do subscribe to my channel.
Robert Duvall, haven't seen him in anything as of late, great actor. What happens when a pilot loses radio contact to his or her aircraft?, my guess would be; the last command would be carried out until you run out of fuel if you don't crash before that. This is why it's ideal to be in a designated environment like a flying park. This hobby is beautiful as long as nobody gets hurt. Safe flying.
Hi Kevens...I loved your video, and I will subscribe. I am retired Navy, and back in 1970-'71 I was stationed at a riverboat base in Binh Thuy, RVN...down in the VN Delta, the "Brown Water Navy," where the boats, the Hueys, and the SEALs operated together up and down the river. We were next door to the Huey unit that operated with the boats, and I never got tired watching them lift off in a hover to about eight feet, "taxi" around the other birds and then hover all the way out to the runway, and only then pitch over and take off. This pilot is a master of the hover, and it brought back memories for me. Thank you, my friend. John, Master Chief, USN (Ret.)
Paul, thank you for your service in the military and glad you reached out. Watching helicopters taxi 8 feet around other birds must be a beautiful sight, I have only seen that through videos. Maybe one of these days I 'll witness that. Love and light
Paul Edstock hey there Paul, how have you been? Got something for you to see, I know you’ll love it. Here you go th-cam.com/video/SLjA6WUrD2A/w-d-xo.html
@kevens A lot of early helicopters used it; The H-13/Bell 47 for instance. Also the H-23 is just one rotary wing craft that used the Hiller mechanism, which is exactly the same as what is on generic model helicopters nowadays. The main idea of the 'flybar' on full size helis was to reduce control loads, eliminating the need for hydraulic assisted controls. It worked, but caused a latency in the controls, which is hardly ideal.
I don't know what his education is, never thought to ask. All I know, he is the best I have ever seen in this remote controlled aircrafts world and I have met too many to count.
I made this video for people who are interested in rc helicopters. I thought it's be best to ask direct questions, straight to the point. Glad Rick felt the same way when we were filming this segment. Thanks for reaching out.
In my personal experience from flying rc helis, I find it to be more difficult to fly in hover mode. Just like meditation, sitting without moving for a while is no small task, it requires discipline to lay low. There is power and beauty in a hover, flying around is what everyone does and it's easy but fun, specially when one goes high and fast :-)
I LOVE it, and the GI Joes make it complete. I'm old enough to have played with those. The difference between men and boys is is not just the price of their toys, but the fact that you should keep a fire extinguisher handy. Thanks.
Thank you so much for posting this vid. I absolutely have to appreciate the amount of effort and time that went into this RC aircraft to get off the ground. This is really a treat for me
I live about 5 miles from Markham Park. Used to fly there with a dude by the name of Elvis. Excellent 3D pilot. And the guy who owns that heli. Met him a couple of times. Nice video.

OK that is one gorgeous bird Keven your buddy Rick builds one beautiful scale bird very nice, I'm just now starting on my own T-rex 450 clone in an MD500E fuse I will come back to this video for inspiration! I see alot of scale Helis around but none like this the cockpit is just amazing!
That thing looks AWESOME! Really perfect! Great job on the detail! Wish everyone did that! But I kinda was waiting/hoping he fly a bit more around and show some action.. Never the less, I enjoyed watching it very much! Thanx!
Very nicely done chaps. Nothing fancy, just hanging aorund and great control. What a nice looking bird too, thank you for the great vieo and please keep up the great work. Cheers from RI.
Wouldn't a lot of us Nam vets love to see about five or six of these brilliant RC Hueys flying in an Eagle formation with a tree line in the distance?
+Lem Genovese That sounds great.

Brilliant...... Is it 1:10 scale?
The topic was addressed in the video.
1:8 scale man listen , LISTEN!
Thanks..
feels good? you can just say yes or no....
To fly and film, both feel good.
That hovering is almost immaculate with the scaled model.
Beautiful Huey!!!!!

Wow, awesome model. Awesome flying skills too
Thanks for posting. Rick is an excellent pilot.
Glad you like it. Thanks for passing through.
Thanks Temel. Parts including the fuselage were bought separately from different places and put together by Rick the pilot.

That thought crossed my mind while filming. It was pretty intense being so close to those blades. I hope you enjoyed watching it.
It's up close and personal. Loads of fun for sure.
