    Thank You for this video. I am very attached to my Singer Touch & Sew for 57 years. I don't know if I could function without it:) I hope the local sewing repair shop will be willing to fix, if not then I will make an attempt:)

    Thanks for a great lesson. Saved taking the wife's machine for repair and money spent plus being a hero also . Machine was a model 640, getting the timing right was a bit tricky but mission accomplished!!

    • @More350Power
      @More350Power  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Mike Mahon It can be tricky, depending on how you look at the timing marks and sometimes you have to go back and re time if you dont get the gears tight the first time. It took me a few times but I got it spot on !

    I am having trouble finding information about the levers and cam followers for my Singer 600e. I would settle for 600, 603 and probably other in the 600 series, but there is NOTHING out there. I watched Andy Tube's for the 401 removing and installing cams and followers, but it has knobs rather than levers. Hope you will consider doing one on levers. The 600, 600e, and 603 have are all metal and are worth saving.

      I wish I could but I no longer have this machine

  • @colleensims2531

    I did this today. Its not as smooth and easy as it appears. For example the horizontal shaft....wound no budge. Used Kurd Kutter to clean old oil gunk, polished the rough spots, then SMO to lube...took forever. And the shaft had scratches on it which were raised and would not allow the shaft to slide out like it does in the video. More difficult than it looks ...but it can be done.

    • @More350Power
      @More350Power  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is correct..... if there are any kind of marks or wear spots on the shafts, it can make removal a challenge. Luckily on my end, this machine was torn into before I got it and it just had the wrong parts installed....I use PB Blaster, a wire wheel, and sometimes 1000 grit or more and polish up the rough spots on the shafts....

    I have a touch & sew 756 that jumped timing, the needle hits metal. It sewed great initially. Any videos to show how to set the timing? I have never done anything like this before. My experience is oiling and replacing belts.

    • @More350Power
      @More350Power  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +vjoyhme There should be a vid in my series where I showed how I checked the timing on this model, though it may differ from your model. if it jumped time, I would wonder why it did so.... gears starting to go bad or something out of adjustment mebbe

    I have the 620, like the one in this video. It was given to me last year by my former landlady, who recieved it from a friend. The lady who gave it to me (cabinet and all), said she never did anything with it, so she didn't know if it worked or not. I plugged it in, turned it on, threaded it, and tried sewing with it. Everything seems to work fine on it except for one thing. The needle won't go down into the hole to pick up the bobbin thread. It tries sewing the top stitches, but can't do the bottom ones from the bobbin. It just hits the foot plate and comes back up. My husband says he thinks the arm is bent. I don't know. I've tried replacing the needle, but that didn't make a difference. I talked to a sewing machine repairman recently, and he said it would cost me $45 to look at it. I can't afford that right now, so I'm hoping to find an at-home fix for it. Any ideas of what could be wrong?

    • @More350Power
      @More350Power  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Joy Underwood something is either bent, broke, or out of timing as the timing on these and really any need to be dead on

    Great video! I do have a question: Will a Singer 606 (light green) use the same gears and feed dogs as this 620? I cannot find a manual for the 606 to find part numbers. Thanks for any assistance.

    I have replaced all the top and bottom gears on my 638 with the exception of 2 gear that had already been replaced. Everything moves fine until I put the bobbin winder parts back on. The bobbin activation tab doesn't work properly and I think the problem is the winder being activated when it shouldn't be but.

    • @More350Power
      @More350Power  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It sounds like the timing might be off

  • @Mickie975
    @Mickie975 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I replaced the gears in my 620, it sews great. However the bobbin rewind assembly doesn't work unless I hold down the black L shaped (spring) that holds the assembly in place. It all seems pretty loose. If I let it rewind itself it pops out and the case goes wild. Do you have a video I can follow to fix this. THANKS!

    • @More350Power
      @More350Power  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mickie Nash Unfortunately I dont have a video on it, but... I can tell you from my experience with this one. That clip was bent on this one I repaired AND it wouldnt set down in its internal spring clip that snapped it in place and held it down because lint had built up inside. Once I cleaned it out, it would slide into place and when I let do it would drop and hold everything like it should. I did have to make some adjustments to it as the previous repairman didnt think to check if it was seating properly and bent it for a quick fix

  • @mickienaszcyniec2711
    @mickienaszcyniec2711 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    The clip sets in where its supposed to .but the bobbin case starts to turn right and pops the clip out. The whole assembly seems sloppy .Is it time for another clip or can I adjust this one some how.

    • @More350Power
      @More350Power  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Mickie Naszcyniec there is a slot with a clip that holds that clip inside, lint can build up causing it not to set in there though, if something is bent it can cause that to happen to.

    • @More350Power
      @More350Power  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I honestly do not know. I wish I did.... I think the 620 is from the Late 60's Early 70's era, but I could be wrong.....

      The # 620 was introduced in the Spring of 1966 and was "upgraded" to a solid state motor later. The # 700 series were introduced in late 1969.

    Hello would like to know if you fix sewing machines often? If so, do you have a store or shop you work out of. Also do you know of any repair shop / person in Ft Wayne In... or nearby. I have this T&S 620 and need help replacing the hook gear I believe. Your video has been very useful but I still have questions . Thanks for the video and any help you can give me would be great ,!!

    Nice to find your videos. I have a couple Touch and Sew 758 machines that one was grandmother’s and 2d one I just purchased to hopefully use as parts. The second machine I think is good but the motor might be bad. How do I tell if motor is bad? It makes noise but will not turn any of the gears. The machine also has a very strong oil smell to it but looking at it is fairly clean inside. I live in South East Missouri- I am also looking for a repair service that I might take it to instead of trying to do something myself. Thank you for your time.

    • @More350Power
      @More350Power  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      thank you for watching ! Sometimes old machines or motors for that nature have an oil smell to it. Though, sometimes, when a motor is overheated or damaged it can produce a similar odor. I take the motors out and try to run them on their own, check the shaft and bearings for play.... etc. If it hums but does nothing, the machine is either jammed, motor is burned up, or has bad brushes

    • @rebeccamoore1268

      More350Power where does one start if I have to do it myself?

    • @More350Power
      @More350Power  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      it appears that the bottom comes off of the machine, a small bracket holding the motor up in the machine along with the light ( the light and wiring is what makes a tedious job ) and the motor should drop out through the bottom. It looks similar to the one in my machine. Has a cork screw gear ground into the shaft. Looks as though the connector for the electric is build into the motor which would make it easy to bench test. First I would rotate the dial / shaft on the side of the machine. Looks like a big knob. Its usually used when loading the machine or manipulating the position when using the motor would be too much.

    hi. do you do any repairs on the vintage Kenmore/white machine?? I got one for 8$ and took it apart to paint it but can't figure out a few things to put it back together. are most machines the same assembly? Im new to it and really want to put my machine back together and get it working after painting it. I put alot of time into painting it. I could text you sum pics of what Im having problems with if that's possible. thanks for any help

    • @More350Power
      @More350Power  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The principals are the same in all the machines and some are close in assembly as well. The tough part is location of controls and features, and above all timing. Im not familiar with Kenmore, but im sure it was a name brand company that made it for them. Maybe even singer. Are you able to take good clear pictures ?? It is hard for me to say without seeing it and especially without getting my hands on it

    I have a touch and sew 626 and I have tried changing the light bulb but for the life of me I can't get it to go back in. I know that there are just two little nubs to slide in and give a little twist but but seems like it just won't go in all the way. Any suggestions?

    • @More350Power

      it should push in and turn, but, if its the wrong bulb and you dont want to force it.... it surly wont go in. sometimes you have to rotate the bulb and try the pins in different slots

    It looks like that front cover has been cracked before... I can see what looks to be a vertical crack in the panel above the stitch selectors, ans it appears that someone has reinforced that crack with a piece of tape on the backside of the front panel.
