Upgrading our off grid power system in our 48ft yacht SV Awaitea with

This is our last dedicated improvement episode of SV Awaitea for Season One:
Karl couldn't help himself, the power system just wasn't good enough for our needs on SV Awaitea. Installing a new system with the help of Solarnsat @exploringofthegrid and #victronenergy gear. New multi +2 inverter, lynx shunt and lynx distributor, 3 x smart solar charge controllers, Cerbo and 7" display, plus a lot more, creating a much safer and better system for our future sailing adventures.
Karl also does a little test on sanding the deck with great success, so a new tool is on the wish list.

I see you are using a cable end crimper. They are hellishly expensive. Nice work.

Gday Frank,
The crimpers that you can now get that are produced in, I assume, China are cheap. $200. Just make sure if you get one that you purchase one with a higher capacity ( lug size) than you need. They normal overstate their capacity, and you end up having trouble applying enough crimping force.

Definitely reccomend installing guimods once it’s up and running then using ruuvi tags for temp sensors for ambient/fridge/freezer

Yes, I’m very lucky, or we would still be trying to cope with the costs.
We do still have plenty of challenges with making out boat into a sustainable of grid living situation, as it was not designed that way 35 years ago.
It is power hungry to support it for more than several days, but we are moving in the right direction.
