imo, your approach shot should have been flat because ball is higher than net and now the net is not an obstacle, straight line to target. you lost a tone of the advantage u had. that said unforced errors are huge in recreational tennis.
@@alliver_tennis wow that’s awesome! I love when people take the time to film, edit, and upload matches they played. It’s not easy to run a channel. These guys are great and I’m happy you subbed them. Thanks!!
definitely one hand on the throat, now whether you hold neutral continental grip when returning and switching immediately to FH or BH grip, or if you are more comfortable of sitting on your FH grip but can get your backhand grip for the 1hbh is up to you and I think it's personal preference but I bet some people say it's only one way. This also probably depends a lot on how big the serve is of your opponent.. I personally sit on my semi-western grip especially on 2nd serves and typically sit on it for firsts as well.
Lost that point at the very moment when he hit that awful approach shot. Was lucky to get an actually easier volley than necessary, but didn't benefit from it. Your explanation of how to save the situation is spot on though.
Haha scott you’re a really good player and I enjoy watching your videos. You can still hit a drop shot (more effectively too) by setting the racket where the ball will arrive rather than above it. Good luck and great playing dude.
Such an amazing video! I’m so glad I found this channel :) If you ever wanted to use any of my match footage you are more than welcome to. I just SUBSCRIBED and am excited about future content from your channel 😊

Another great lesson Ryan!
Another interesting video we can learn from. Thank you Ryan.
Thanks so much TNT!
Love it as usual Ryan.
Ahh, Sanlando court #7
Amazing analysis
So Ryan I am a one handed backhand so I wondered if I should have both hands on the grip aswell? I know you said about two handers like Novak.
Great question Chris. One handers have nonhitting hand on throat. Thanks!!

So when your arm is straight Ryan? would that be the correct distance you are away from the ball?
I’m not a fan of forcing people to have a straight arm on the forehand. I like my forehand with a bent arm. Obviously not too jammed though.

scott could have also been trying to hit a drop volley, but mishit it
That was the intent, but my stone hands showed up😂

Thanks Ryan. Hitting better drop shots is a goal of mine. Any tips for getting the right trajectory on those feel shots?
