I’m so thrilled to see you working so hard on LISTENING! Keep up the good work Thomas.
Thanks, time consuming but worth it.
@@Newrecordday2013 Thomas is professional instant noodle promoter
Always enjoy your “sales pitch” especially when you tell people who it’s for and who it’s not. Nice one! 😅
I have done similar tests with many capacitors. We are a rare breed. Most people do not have the confidence or patience.
I have actually converted a lot of people. Once they hear the difference changing for higher quality components can do, they cannot go back.
I do lots of upgrades & try loads of different caps, restorers, fuses, op-amps & just about anything, my favourite caps are Audio Note, but they are not cheap, that's enough of me waffling, great video by the way & love that you take the time to listen & just don't go on measurements, people that just go on measurements are not audiophiles 😊
Thanks, I think understanding the power of a simple capacitor swap can only be appreciated by someone who have actual experience. I have shocked many people who have been doing this for many years and never thought it matter. After spending an afternoon with me, those people changed their mind completely.
Nice Job Thomas one thing about Galion Tube Amps is there's hardly no noise nor microphonics, such a clean dark background
This really helps bring out those deep microdetails in the recording ' which in return allows for better depth perspective of the soundstage which corelate with Unfolding the layers of the stage
(Imaging) Man I am so lucky to have the TS120SE at my House All my family and friends absolutely 💯 percent love the TS120SE ' So I can imagine the TS34 being on a simular level of exellence
I agree
Yup, it is the same circuit so there are a lot of similarities between both amps.
Three of my fav you tube audio junkies in one post. ❤
Now only need Sean to post here.
And I’ll have my screenshot. 😂
I Love what you and Mr. Liu are doing with Galion. As a PrimaLuna owner and regarding Auto BIAS: PrimaLuna's Adaptive AutoBias is a true, smart technology employing an array of sensors to monitor tubes and make adjustments seamlessly in real time. More important, it is the ONLY circuit of its kind that is truly "adaptive" by addressing "tube pinch off" at higher volumes, therefore reducing distortion by over 50% and greatly extending tube life. Adaptive AutoBias is completely passive and NOT in the signal path. The result is low to no maintenance, long tube life, and the lowest possible distortion for amazing sound.
Very interesting
Yeah, lots of amazing engineers out there. Glad you are enjoying your Prima Luna.
Great review! Your description of the "modern" sound reminds me of Audio Research tube products.
Yes, Audio Research is very good and special.
Yes, you are correct.
Kudos Thomas!
Looking forward to the release of your preamp to accompany the A20 and A75!
Late winter.
@@ThomasAndStereo May I ask your opinion on your preamp + A75 re: pairing with original first gen Elac Unifi UF5 tower speakers…
@@JMN_ALC I personally would not recommend the TS A20 with it. You want the TS A20 to shine especially if you pay $3750 for it and you want to give it the best chance possible. A 83db speaker is not giving the best chance possible. The TS A75 might work but I don't know because I have never tried it.
Great sounding amplifier with a reasonable price , thanks Thomas 😊👍
Thanks for all the hard work in developing your products.
@Scottlp2 Glad you appreciate it.
Thomas im a TS -20 owner, Its amazing. And its only goung to sound better as i improve my set up.
Thanks. Yes, a lot of people have told me they love it.
TS120SE is literally END GAME on all fronts!! Excited to hear this new model. ❤❤.
Instant noodles were accepted in full quantity for a solid review.

Korean ramen by the case!
This TS34 is quite amazing in its own way. I say the sound character is in between a Decware Torri and a TS120SE.

What you need is a valves running 45s they work the best in preamps should be a good match give you a lot of meat on the bone
Working on it for a late winter release.
Hi Thomas. You mentioned 6SN7 valves for the Freya+. Well, you just found your way into my wheelhouse. I've tried a lot, and I mean a lot of different 6SN7s for it so far. First of all, I am a soundstage maniac. I like a smoother, 3D soundscape with deep bass, without a sharp upper midrange and treble type of musical presentation. Out of all the tube combos I've tried, two Northern Electric Coke Bottle 6SN7s are in the buffer stage, and two Sophia Electric Blue Bottle valves are in the driver stage. WOW, is all I have to say. I've never looked back! These valves make the original JJ 6SN7s sound shrill, flat and lifeless in comparison. Thanks for the video, and good luck with your amplifiers bud.
Thanks, those are insanely good and expensive tubes!
@@ThomasAndStereo I agree, but they are the way to go for a holographic soundstage chaser. I found a valve recipe that really works, but it cost a few bucks to finally get there. I know I'm not going back to stock tubes, ever. Have a good one thomas.
Thomas, I think you need to make a MONSTER class D amp. You’re missing that in your product portfolio. Just make sure it’s crazy powerful. Because that will the funnest project you ever do!
Hi Thomas I am glad you are doing this. Your best review yet. I have not heard any of your amps, but I intend to. I missed you when you were last in Ontario. Hopefully, next time you are here I will get to come have a listen. We’ve communicated with each other once before. I actually trust most of your opinions. I have a 50-year journey/relationship with high-end audio. For me it’s all about the music and quality of sound (enjoyment), which seems to be your focus. Thank you! I love your confidence.
Yes, we can arrange it, email me at the beginning of September. thomas.tan@galion-audio.com

@jwinstonh1926 I would not be in Toronto but email Mr 1st week of September.

Great work Thomas. Your talent and passions shine through again and wow, it looks stunning!
Thanks for the support.
Jupiter needs to make the Thomas capacitor. You deserve it!
Next a GM-70 tubes amp ? 😃 Would love that !
Nah, I think that is all it for tube amps. Moving to tube preamp or cd tube player.
Went over to my buddies who got the TS120se and is running the new Horizon KT88 tubes. Sooo good. 😉😉🎉🎉
Definitely brings an extra level of precision. For those who favor a smoother performance, perhaps KT77 is a better choice.
@@ThomasAndStereo
I’m really looking into KT77 recently as well. I like smooth, but not too thick or slow, what brand do you recommend Thomas?
@@abxaudiophiles The only brand I have tried is Gold lion for KT77. Sounds good.
Thomas LOVES capacitors!
Very informative video, thank you for the insight of a designer.
Thomas you have to develop a tube amp especially designed to move the Maggies and super demanding speakers in general.
There are some options in the market for that but they are super expensive. I think the mix of good value and great sound of your products could be killer for that market.
Clarisys R&D $10k speaker 🔊
Amp would work, not Maggie's
@@CarlVanDoren61 I was talking about a tube based amp. There are tons of cheap solid state amps that work pretty good with the Maggies but not many TUBE amps (at least, not many affordable ones).
A local store, now closed, used to run Maggie 20.7's with a Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum II, sounded beautiful and sound stage depth that went out to the road.
@@RumblestripDotNet yeah!! Tubes + maggie's combo is killer!! I had a similar experience with an Audio Research amp moving the Maggies 1.7i and it was A-MA-ZI-NG... sadly there are not many affordable tube amps capable of that. You need a lot of power if you want to go beyond 80dbs.
Standard 40-50 watts single ended tube amps based on a pair of EL34 or KT88 per channel are not enough I tried many of them and all of them fell short, they sound good but not enough SPL.
It is very hard to get a tube amp to work with Maggie perfectly. Can the TS120SE work ok with Maggie, sure, it has no problem but I want moe than ok. To get a sub $2k tube amp to have enough power to drive Maggie? Maybe the Willsenton R800i?
I love you Thomas, I really love you, your passion has sold you , you bring the hi end gears to a low end price, you are the hi fi Christ.
Thank you for the positive vibes.
Well, 😂 u R getting warmer Thomas 😂 As much as I would love ANY of your units...space and $ have a bearing on all things Audio in your line up with the exception of the Voyageur Speakers. So, I'm going to keep pitching you get us an Integrated non tube (not that I don't like Tubes) amp either 10-20 watts A or AB integrated in whatever design works for you...all 😂 I ask is High Current / High Dampening. And as always The Best to You...🎉🎉🎉 And don't forget HDMI EArc or Sub output single is fine. 😉
It will be a project for next year if I work on it but there are so many sub $1k all in one integrated amp on the market now. For example, IOTAVX. I don't think I can do better than that for the price. Even if I can, it will only be slightly better and for me, unless I can wow people, there is no point.
@@ThomasAndStereo True enough I just hate giving money to your competitors!!!
Mr. LIO owes you a debt of gratitude for the fantastic promotion. A new Gordon Gow maybe?!
Carry on your great work Thomas. Like many have wished, I can’t wait to hear your preamp done with the same passion. Can we expect it’s release in the next coming months? 🤔
Thanks, some time in Winter, I am experimenting with exotic resistors.
Longtime subscriber here. Just a bit of WEBSITE feedback, Thomas... On the TS34 product page, you've got an image of the back of the unit, and the text next to it is "support for EL34 and KT88 tubes." This isn't a good match, as you can't see tubes in the image. I would move the information about support for KT88 tubes to either integrate with, or just subsequent to, the section called "Optimized for EL34 tubes."
Next to the photo of the back of the amp, I would instead discuss which connections/inputs/outputs are available, especially since you can't click on the photo of the back of the amp to enlarge and read the inputs/outputs for yourself, nor is there a separate "Specifications" link that simply lists them, along with other features.
Thanks for taking the time to let me know, let me work on it.
Thanks for the feedback, let me look into it.
Thomas, I really appreciate all the listening you do in designing your products - can you tell us what specific music you used in your listening tests ìn designing this amp ?
I use all kinds and all sources. I even use TH-cam as part of my voicing. My logic is if it can sound good with TH-cam, it will sound good with everything. I don't like amps that need the best recording or specific music to shine. Having said that, my main priority is always the human voice. If I cannot get that perfectly, then everything else must be so amazing that I can accept the compromise.
what specific pieces of music?
I hope they can produce some mono amplifiers.
The can but I will not make any under the Galion brand because it is like 80lb each. 211 tubes.
Bravo 🙏
Merci.
Do a kt170 amp
May i ask whats the implementation of the headphone amp is in your amps ?
Im bit opposite looking mainly for headphone listener with additional speakers listening....
Sorry, the amp does not have headphone output.
Sounds delicious Thomas,
I have one question, what are the transformers that you are using in your amps. Thank you.
Optimus Prime :)😁
Any plans to do a standalone pre-amp?
I believe TS brought a prototype to the montreal show.
I spoke to Thomas at the show , he keep voicing his Pre-amp , it is not that easy
Late winter, still working on it.

For now I put 1 year but I have been supporting all my clients beyond that.
@@ThomasAndStereo thank you
Can you make an amp that drives low sensitivity speakers 85db sensitivity at 4ohms. With min 50 watts?
Yes but the current is the thing here drives low sensitivity and hopefully low impedance if all aspects are correct. Look at it like a water pipe you might have a narrow pipe under high pressure but lower flow rate because it's restricted you can have the same pressure with a greater diameter pipe what would fill up a container quicker.
Oh ok thanks.
The TSA 75 that's the one
Eventually, if the TS A75 is not enough for you.
Thanks @@stephencosta6814
Thomas, have you tried the PSVane Art Series tubes. If you did, how do they compare to the Horizon series tubes in your TS34 amp?
Yes, I did order some to try but for 12AT7. That one is for my upcoming preamp. I think the Art series is on the smoother side while the Horizon series is on the more 'aggressive' (in a good way) side.
I received your A75 amp for my birthday last month. Very happy with it. Been thinking of a 300B amp to complement it. WOnder who this would compare to a good 300B amp at twice the cost (I know)?
The 300b amp that I like a lot was the Willsenton R300, too bad it did not measure well. That one is not as fast, as tight, as precise as the TS34. The 300B has a warmer midrange than the TS34. All a question of what you want and also how easy your speakers are to drive.
@@ThomasAndStereo Thank you. I like the warm immersive 300B sound that seems to envelope me and massages my soul. Guess I will have to stick with 2 amps.
@DeMorcan You just need to be careful because too warm will make it sound vintage and slow. Balance is important.
@@ThomasAndStereo Thank you for taking the time to explain. I have you A75 amp, Lumina iis, HSU sub (because my room does not like bass from full range speakers), Qutest and R2R DACs. My pre is a parasound. I love it, but sometimes, I want a warmer voice friendly amp to go witht he R2R. Any suggestions or would the TS 34 give me that full soft seductive vocals?
@@DeMorcan Seductive vocals? Forsure the TS34 will give it to you. The TS120 is better for vocal in my opinion but TS34 is already way ahead of the TS A75.
Which amp that you have designed is the most holographic and could you try 6550 tubes thanks jim
Both the TS34 and TS120SE can use 6550 tubes (Just not Svetlana 6550 tubes) and both amps are very very holographic.
Can this amp work w/ Magnepan LRS ?
Sure but I always tell people, for Magnepan, get a solidstate amp, like the TS A75.
When are the speaker cables coming out and can we get Bi-Wire?
The C100 entry-level cable is ready for pre-order on my website and will ship in mid-August. I have ordered a whole batch to keep the cost low so it cannot be bi-wired because they are already made. The C300 made in Canada one which cost many times more will ship late Septembre.
@@ThomasAndStereo Thanks. I should be getting my new TS A75 Tuesday. Cant wait for the pre-amp when or if you make one. Thanks
Get rid of those coupling capacitiors and try IT coupling . Been building tube amps for many years (30+) and will never go back to capacitor coupling.
Thanks for the info, can you give me a link as I tried a google search with no results.
Let’s go!!!! ❤❤❤
you should add instant noodles company to your portfolio cheers
It will probably be like Schiit Toilet paper and become a best seller.

Sure but for Magnepan, recommend going the solid-state route.
Hello, I’m a big fan of your channel, and the content is awesome but the views going down really makes me sad. I would love to work with you to grow your channel to grow this channel. Is this something worth a conversation?

😅
Got to stop watching your videos Thomas cause you got me drooling.
Watching Thomas and Stereo can be dangerous to your wallet.
Big flaw with most Tube integrated amps made today...NO L/R Balance control. Not everyone has perfect tubes, rooms or ears. This is preventing me from even considering buying your Doge made integrated amps. I will stick with my Cary SLi-80 (made in the US)
I did look into many feaures and what I learn is, every time I introduce a new 'feature', it shows up negatively in the measurements. It kind of make sense because it means adding an extra component in the signal chain. A balance control means it needs to always be on. Unless I built it like my tone control where I can bypass it. The problem is from my experience of selling amps for the last few years, I did not get a single complain about balance issue so that tells me it would be a feature I implement that less than 1% of my client will use while making 100% of my client paying for it. In your case, even if it has balance control, it would not matter to you because it is not made in the USA, but you have a point, 99.9% of the tube amp on the market don't have tone control, I wonder if they came down to the same conclusion as me.
