I think your comments are especially on point as rulebooks have come so far over the last 40 years. There is no excuse for not having an efficient, well organized, concise, well illustrated rulebook with player aids. I am reading the rulebook to B17 Queen if the Skies and remembering what a task it was to read all the text in those old war games. I have both the Modern and WWII versions of Warfighter, but won’t be delving into Fantasy. I’ll just stick with my old Pathfinder deck building game.

Now we're here, what six months later , and it still sounds like we've got rules issues? Totally unacceptable for a company with their track record.
This game looked so good and couldn't wait to get it. Thank God for your channel, because I watched your first review and didn"t buy it. Your channel and some others that I watch really help me decide if I want to purchase a game or not. Also, congratulations on the new additions to your family. They are so cute. Original Warfighter was such a clean easy to play system that carried so much theme. I my opinion, all they had to do was “fantasyify” the skills and weapons, throw in thematic baddies and locations and your off. Why they felt they needed to go in and change every aspect of the game from suppression to combat range to baddy damage is just beyond me. Once they started showing off new mechanics I lost hope.
I own, and enjoy Warfighter Modern but never really got the appeal of the cross-era compatibility. I'd like to try WW2 Warfighter but have no desire to see how a WW2 squad would stand up to today's armies (spoiler warning - not well) and certainly don't want to see how Aragorn would battle an M1 Abrams. The whole cross-compatibility contributes to the rulebook being a mess. On another note, I don't think I've ever experienced a Kickstarter where they say they need more time to "perfect the product" and it actually came out better - do have high hopes for Maladum though.
Depressing and so disrespectful to their fans. Like many, I have spent a ton of $$$ on their products. You don’t treat loyal customers like that. I was so looking forward to this but grateful for the multitude of honest coverage of how bad it is
The outright refusal to hire professionals to do any editing on rules etc has really killed their polish. I watched the guy who is the lead designer for the air leader games and he seems to have a good grasp on things. Hes outside the family. They need more help like that esp in the graphics design, editing, and operational aspects. And slow down the pipeline if you cant handle as much.
I went all in on the kickstarter. Talk about wasting money. I almost went in on the Warfighter Vietnam. Backed out as soon as I tried to play Warfighter Fantasy. I think I made a wise decision.
Where I think they went wrong is that they had an idea for a system, but they didn’t fully flesh it out before they started releasing core modules years ago. I got in on the modern titles, and watched over years while they adjusted the rules again and again, clearly trying to shoehorn them into a fantasy game that that they hadn’t thought through from the beginning. I have a whole core box of cards for the modern core games that were replaced. The system got to be so confusing I shelved it a couple years ago and haven’t played it at all. Didn’t pledge for any of the last three titles in the series. Have better things to do with my time and money.
I dont have this but do have the WWII Warfighter. I've felt ripped off a bit on a few of my newest games. Mostly its the careless rule writing and mass errata. I know its a task to write a solid set of rules but come on...getting the turn phases wrong? Its unacceptable IMO. I'm pretty sure my money, which they have isn't flawed in any way. Is it REALLY too much to ask to put out a clear, concise and error free rulebook?! Get some fresh eyes on it! Im ranting...thanks Rob and its A-OK to give criticism when its fair and deserved!
Yeah, it's clear by now that DVG don't even play the games they publish, let alone playtest them. And they don't even care. It's like they're selling the business and doing the absolute bare minimum until then.
This is one turkey that i am glad i didn't back. I think they have finally milked the warfighter product to death, and they wanted one last kick at the can. For me, it was the art....so bad. At least the regular warfighter uses photos, and has a decent look to it. In as much as i would have rather had Vietnam era over the previous Mediterranean edition...I am done with DVG.
Don't know what it is, but around the time Sarah left DVG, they seemed to head downhill. It's a shame. The people have always been good to me, and they normally put out good games.
I was so turned off by the one sentence "updates" they would send out, that were such an insult to backers. Then to finally receive the game and it be a mess. DVG really shot themselves in the foot with this. I'm done with them
I backed this and the delays were pathetic. The worse thing was the demeaning treatment given in the updates. I am sure someone from DVG will be jumping here since they are quick to respond when negativity is brought to the forefront. Its amazing that this is ignored yet they have the time to spam my mailbox with new campaigns. From the kickstarter updates I can only piece together that the only playtesters were the son, his wife and the pet dog.

Warfighter armies are supposed to be interchangeable from era to era. It was part of the original design criteria.
