Adult beginner weaver here, working on the cheap to see if I like it before investing in a “real” loom. So nice we can get wonderful results from just a piece of cardboard. 👍🏻♥️

How would we put squares together to make a bigger item ie rug or place mats? Thanks.

Hi! That's a great question and sounds like a really fun project. I haven't actually tried it myself, but from what I found with the following links, it would be similar to joining crochet squares. You sew the sides together, working only in the loops on the edge. Hopefully this site and this video are helpful: handwovenmagazine.com/stitching-two-panels-together/ and th-cam.com/video/h5mm7LUbyX0/w-d-xo.html

First time loomer here...could you make another coaster on the back of the cardboard or do you need that extra string to finish. Also thank you for making this video. I can't wait to do it.

Hi Brian! You certainly can make a coaster on the flip side, just be sure you have about 1.5 - 2 " extra on each side so you can tie it off (so maybe think of working with a cardboard piece that is a bit larger than I used in the video). I've done it with less, but working with shorter lengths can be fiddly! Best of luck, I hope you have a lot of fun!!!

Have you woven with cut up fabric strips? How could we adapt the loom? Thanks.

I have used fabric strips as the weft (or woof) but the warp was made using either a size 10 crochet thread or something like the yarn used in this video. Love to see what you come up with! If you want to weave using only fabric strips you might try using something bigger for your loom, such as.an old picture frame.

Thanks for info. Have lots of needlepoint yarn, quilt fabric and T-shirts that can be cut into strips. Great way to use my stash. Plus mimic scrap fabric weaving.
