Love what you do! Its wonderful that you dont completely dismantle the story of your homestead. I love the old barn blocks/rock walls/edges that you left. They enclosed your garden. Perfect for flower pots and planting possibilities. It will give your garden such a cottagy character!
Arrowhead is so amazing, looked intact too! How exciting to find historical treasures. Sites of old homestead outhouses are great historical treasure sites. They always threw old bottles ,china etc down in them and later moved to new site and repeated. Some old tools and gadgets to look for there! Great looking spot for garden, soil is going to be organic and rich for sure! Happy spring to you both. Dogs are so cute, love those herding dogs/ ranch dogs. Stay well and best of luck with the garden. God bless!
You have done such a great job renovating this beautiful farmhouse 👏 The garden with the white picket fence sounds amazing ! Looking forward to seeing all your progress in the next videos 😊
I love watching your and Ben's vision coming to life. Look at all you guys have accomplished from day 1. Love a picket fence. I hope you also keep a journal for you and to leave as a legacy for your family.
Wow what a find on the arrow head. Looking forward to seeing your garden progress. I finally have a garden space this year. We are currently in the process of reclaiming the land for it and I’m so excited.
I’m new to your channel and just love what you and your husband are doing on your farm. And I’m in love with your kitchen, 🤌🏻Keep up the excellent work! I think the barn blocks are good to keep. Not sure if it’s really windy in that spot, but they can help retain some heat and provide some protection for plantings. You should enclose it on both ends (with rock or the picket fence you mentioned)and have a gate going into it. And fence in the rest for the corn or whatever else. A big garden with separate rooms so to say… LOL! So many possibilities! But I love the block wall, it just gives off wonderful character. Cheers from Kansas!👋
Hi! 👋🏼 Welcome to my channel! Thank you so much! ❤️ It is really windy certain times of the year. The type of garden I plan on doing this year will be very similar to what you’re describing with different “rooms” or spaces. I’m hoping I can make my vision come together. Haha! It’s so funny you said that. I’ve already changed my mind and decided to build the greenhouse on the old barn blocks like I originally wanted, lol!
@@LewisAcresHomestead bwahahahahaha!!!!!!!😂 the greenhouse😆 did I miss hearing that in the video!?😆 Now I’m jealous… your greenhouse will be phenomenal!❤️ I’ll send an inspiration photo of what I possibly see for the block garden-greenhouse 😁 Your channel is wonderful… Keep up the wonderful hard work and THANK YOU for welcoming me.
That's going to be a nice garden area. I like that you can you use the old foundation from the barn as boarder/fence. A big project, but once it's in, will be there for many years. The picket fence will look good and frame the garden nicely. As far as keeping the chickens out, probably not, unless you have different type of chickens then we do. My small town, just north of Tampa has free roaming chickens all through town, in the city limits. I'm in the historical section, and they are all over our area. I respect they are god's creatures but they sure are a nuisance and I hate the destruction they do. They roam through out yards several times a day, poop all over Everything, the walk ways, patios, patio furniture, tear up flower beds, fling mulch and dirt all over everything and they never shut up. They roost in the bushes and trees. Some of us have 6' privacy fence and it does not keep them out. I'm not a fan, my personal opinion and from the above issues.
Thank you! I hate that you have to deal with that, that would be such a headache! I’m hoping it will keep ours out. If not we will have to move the coop and then to the other side of our farm away from the garden.

Thank you!! I totally agree! I’m hoping they can stand the test of time.
I love finding history like the arrow head--really puts into perspective how our own lives are just small pieces of a long story!
Me too! I know, we cannot stop talking and thinking about everything that was once here before us and our little farm.
That was a good find. (Arrow head) It's a wonder that your equipment didn't break it.
Thank you! I know, we were so shocked we didn’t break it with the shovel when digging.
We used manure on our farm and our garden was wonderful

Just thought of this…. Years down the road, you can build a huge green house on the old barn blocks….. just sayin! 😆
