Watching this just made me tear a bit. I remember riding these buses in my childhood. These buses are more than just buses. I’ve had a lot of memories on these buses. Some of them I will never forget. As a 2005 Baby, it’s crazy seeing these disappear in 2019. Watching this really does give me a throwback. RIP the Orion VII OG CNGS.. 2002-2019
The loudest buses in New York City, hands down. More specifically, the loudest buses in The Bronx and Brooklyn. To me, these weren't just a bus, these were my childhood memories.
This was the first MTA Bus I’ve ever seen in my life back in 2009. It was my favorite as it ran on the Bx17. But now that I know they’re gone, I will always remember the 2002-2004 Orion VII CNG’s. So I’m now replacing it with the 2008-2010 Orion VII NG HEV. The 2002-2004 Orion VII CNG’s will always be in my heart. They will remain there for the rest of my life. 😀😓
Seriously though, I can’t think of another bus that was really this loud too bad orion is gone as a whole, we’ll never see anything like this ever again
Despite not riding them, I do have to admit, when I was little, I used to be afraid of those buses. But now that I was a bit more older, I grew out of being scared, and I started to love these buses. The Series 50G engine was the one that made these buses roar, and will always be the best CNG engine. Also 7691 and 7746 were the first units to be tested for repowering. The first repowering was with the Cummins Westport ISL-G engine, and were also refitted with Allison B400R6 transmissions, to see if this could be a sucess. Then later on, they were repowered again, but this time with the Doosan GL11K engines. Surprisingly, I only caught 7746, and it was the Doosan powered one, before it was retired. Basically, I think the Repowering proposal didn't seem to work, since that it may cost the MTA money for the repowering, plus they should better off just repower one bus with the ISL-G, and the other one with the Doosan engine, to compare which engine is best. However, that is just my opinion.
I miss how these sounded hecka loud and throaty when the VII was still up and running. Fortunately I was able to enjoy their cousins from Georgia and California
I remember going to my aunts house and riding these or the early c40s on the B35 last time I rode this bus was at a bus route at The Bronx majority already consisted of xn40s
Back in 2013/14 ish i saw a flip dot version of this bus and ion know why i thought that the 50g didn't fit with this bus i only saw the clear hybrid versions
Retired already? Dam the GMC RTS's seemed to have lasted MUCH longer than these. These appear to be in great shape to go to mothballs. What I fondly remember about these is the torque! I believe there was an issue with the excessive torque and passengers falling as a result upon their debut. Correct me if Im wrong but I believe it was THIS model right here.
CNG tanks have an expiration date. When the tanks expire, so do the buses. They could re-tank the fleet with new tanks, but getting new buses would be cheaper in the long run.
I got the bus stop right at my house so convenient for enjoyment ,2019 Jan the MTA moved bus stop over so if I catch a bus I'm lucky cause they even more quiet rather hear the beep beep beep and the air compressor when it's kneeling been at this location since 2010 Jan still here at beach 115 street 2020 I have the Q22 Orion vii 2 ND gens ,Q53 SBS NewFlyer Excelsior XD60, THE S train The A train and the train yard😍👍🏽
I miss them on all my West Farms routes in The Bronx. Especially #7569, #7573, #7593, #7612 and #7613. I remember back in 2017, those had literally come from Jackie Gleason during that year.... only to be gone by early 2018. I only got 3 videos of them (I wasn't into YouTubing at the time, and I was in High School). I should've fanned them looking back, because I didn't realize they were retiring, until it was too late). Now, I've realized my mistake, and I'm going after the Hybrids this year before they retire.

I always remember these buses on the BX32
@@Ihonestlydek Only thing that comes close is the XN40/XN60 backfire, which sounds just as good. Also, the Hybrids sound just as throaty.
These buses will always be in my heart 😌
@@mtaproduction_1 bx17, bx35, bx11, bx32 and bx36 prominently. Idk about the Brooklyn routes but here especially was those buses

Back when MTA busses were natural sounding
Alternate title: 57 minutes of Detroit Diesel Series 50 MK-G sounds. Man do I just love that exhaust sound.
7560-7684 don't have MK-G engines. They either have the EGR engine or the standard S50G engine. 7685-7819 might have MK-G engines however...
Real bro
Those were the good old days man...I miss em 😢

R.I.P to the 2002-2004 Orion VII CNGs foreal, especially 7560-7684. MTA should've preserved some of them.
Better get some Hybrids while they're still here. The 2002-2004 ones are retired. The 2005s are retiring. All of the 2006-2007 ones are still running.
@@forcechief Well, not all of the 06'-07's and 2005 are retired
I really wanted MTA to restore one or two of these buses
I miss seeing these on the B103
They should put one of them for a museum fleet
They can’t really, CNG will expire some day
@@MP11931, one of the Ex-Command RTS CNG buses (#4904) is preserved by the New York Transit Museum though.

MTA needs to preserve one of them
The fact is DD50-MKG engines are loud
Especially on Orion 7 CNG

These buses are the goat 🐐 man nyc changed
Atlanta’s MARTA had these but numbered 2101-2160 with original Series 50G. And ones with cummins c gas plus were numbered 2161-2190
I’m just patiently waiting for that D60 Compilation..
That would depend on which D60 series you're talking about, because I have two on this channel.
Either the 2002-2003 units or a mass compilation of all three generations.

At least the NG hybrid buses are not retired
Like your video wow😭 two amazing buses gone my childhood buses are gone
In one of the scenes, there were 2 orion v s that were from one of your videos.😂😂😂
With these buses i knew a Bx15/21/35 was coming, now i dont hear them anymore. :C
My town used to have those but not anymore they used to be in Bakersfield long ago

Can you do a video on the 06-07 OG Hybrids & 09 Hybrids?
The Hub Productions what about the 08s?
These buses should last at least 40 years in service since they're CNG
That's not how it works. They were built with 12-year tanks in them.

It was really no issue with those models!
These busses are still existing
They should have sold them instead of scraping them
Can't tell them when the tanks were expired at retirement age.
51:56 how does a west farms depot do a F line in queens 🤔
Big shuttle bus operation between both the E and F lines between Forest Hills and Jamaica.

Repower the buses by changing the engines and turbo chargers it will run more faster than before!
The bodies and frames were getting quite bad, repowering them wouldn't help much.
I think the c40lfs will need to rule over the lines the orion v s had done.
