But in recent years, there have been so many slangs and idioms been created due to dynamically changes of social behaviors of people and technologies. 🙊

The characters on that red stuffed ox toy "你最牛" doesn't mean the year of the ox. “牛” in Chinese is cow/ox as a noun, but also used as adjective meaning "awesome, cool, fantastic" on people, objects or things. "你" means you, "最" means to the extreme as an adverb, so "你最牛" is you are the most awesome, you are the coolest, or simply you are the best. China has tradition of making zodiac animals into cheering phrases during spring festival, to make cheerful puns. “牛” happen to be one of the easiest characters/animals for that purpose. Good videos. Totally agree. I think that maybe because in their videos I can feel a mixed sense of harmony, love and respect, with pure positivity and curiosity. These are some qualities we really lack of in this somewhat chaotic world. And they make me feel a bit more possitive about humanity, especially when US and China are so hostile to each other. FYI, it is impolite to use your chopsticks to turn over the share dishes. Best to just get what you want quickly at once without turning over the whole dish. It is a very small point, not everyone knew it but definately one of the table manners. HAPPY NEW YEAR! Wish you good time in China.

One of the useful things about zodiac is that we can know someone‘s age without asking directly. If you know the zodiac repeats every twelve years and you know roughly how old a person is, you could guess the exact age of this person. For example, knowing David and Evelyn are both Dragon zodiacs, I could guess that David is in his 30s so he was born in the year 1988; Evelyn is more likely to be born in 2012 because she is probably less than 12 years old. Normally Chinese people could tell you from the back of their mind what year it is with zodiacs.
In Chinese culture, ox represents the spirit of hard work and perseverance in the face of difficulties, I think thats what we need right now! Happy 牛 year!
