If Agnes Carpenter felt compelled to say I did not kill my daughter, then I feel that is a sign of a guilty conscience on some level. Deepdeep down in her soul

Karen and Agnes had a very complicated relationship. Agnes attention was always on Richard . Agnes was known to wear the pants in the family.

Yeah, that was just weird, at minimum. What mother would say such a thing about her child after her death? That's not normal, especially that soon after her death. Sounds like a guilty heart of at least some emotional and/or psychological abuse towards Karen.

Mary Wilk, Wendy Burke and SayItAin'tSo if you knew what Barry Morrow wrote in the original scripts for the movie, then you would probably understand better. The original scripts for the movie (and Barry's original ideas) were really bad and pretty much completely blamed Agnes for Karen's passing. Agnes's comment to Barry Morrow was warranted if you haven't noticed as Barry STILL blames her while also trying to deny that he is blaming her. Yoohoo, if you aren't blaming someone then the someone not being blamed is neither guilty nor innocent.
And as far as Agnes's comment, I wish to say that if Barry can prove to me how Agnes was the one who caused Karen's glucol (blood sugar) level to go over 1100 and cause Karen's heart to stop beating then I will retract my truthful statement of "Agnes did not cause her daughter's blood sugar level to skyrocket in a short period of time so Agnes did not kill her daughter nor did Richard kill his sister" from me. Agnes told the truth back when of "I would like you to know that I did not kill my daughter." Barry had been trying (and still tries) to blame Agnes.
And as far as "The Karen Carpenter Story" movie, anyone that feels that movie is accurate really needs a serious reality check.

@@adriandowningiii8395 When a parent plays favorites it can to a certain extent kill the soul overtime. Leaving karen to have feelings of not being good enough.

@@SayItAintSo4real think she was hearing people talk about it. I don’t think she can be directly blamed. She loved her daughter. No one knew much about it, even the doctors. I mean look at how they were telling us to eat. Margarine and lots of bread….etc., many things have since been debunked. We were conned by merchandisers caring only about bottom lines. Just look at the obesity problem today. Go into a store and most of the stuff is processed non food. Was she a perfect parent? How many of us are?

Karen is one of my favorites. I look forward to seeing this documentary. I've read both major books about her. Yes, her brother is very protective of her image. But we all have vulnerabilities, and anorexia was Karen's. We're learning more and more about it all the time. It's a complex illness, and just blaming a family member, or her, is too simple. Body image is a common issue for a lot of women, especially those in show business. Oh, how I wish we could have helped her. How I wish she was still with us. How fortunate we are to have her recorded work for younger generations to discover.

I have not had the opportunity to see this film yet, but am very much looking forward to it. From the clips, I would say that it does not come across having a particular "agenda" (say, against Karen's mother and/or brother) but just seeks to, as much as possible, complete the record. That is probably why it has been so well received.

I found it unsettling that host Carol Khan chuckled through the entire interview. It made me sad.
