the promendade footage was such a great non-invasive way to show off every single costume at the event, everyone got their little close-up! I don't know how vera could judge best dressed, every dress was so stunning
Elise Collins And the music is one that a lot of us _really_ associate with New Year’s Day, since it’s always one of the encores if the New Year concert in Vienna.
Because there are so many different eras of dress represented here, it almost feels like a bunch of well dressed ghosts got together for one last ball 😆
You all look so wonderful! It’s like watching a painting come to life. How sad the new director doesn’t want the ball anymore, it seems a very strange decision when it’s sold out and so popular! I hope someone else will take over. ❤️
(I live in Texas, USA. I get out a bit, but I don't think there is a room that fancy in the whole state. If any of you know of some, let me know. I could go on a fancy-ball-room-tour.) You and your husband look just lovely. Your dress is wonderful. You are so very pretty and it suits you beautifully.
I've never seen such an event and it was beautiful! The Promenade was my favorite. All the Ladies were beautiful but, Nikki, I do believe you, your dress, your hair....you were gorgeous! Please forgive me for not knowing your husband's name. I'm new here. He was quite dashing, as well!
Lee-am, I have a dream to dance in a ball like this, it's a return to XIXth century. I cry when I see this images, it's so romantic, and your yellow dress is very beautiful.
Lovely outfits (love your 'Ikea' dress and the violet fairy bustle) . However, I can see how important it is to have the right undergarments under a dress, even if the dress is only historically inclined instead of historically correct. Too bad they are not doing the ball anymore. :s
There are actually a few more in Belgium. One is the winterball at castle d’Ursel. But I faint there will be one this year. The trick is to get on the loop. Once you’re in, you won’t have a weekend off😂 pandemic aside off course😉
such a shame it is the last, it seems well attended, why are they ending it. especially now historical costuming is becoming more popular. there are some beautiful costumes there, and I agree with the judge on her choice of the lovely green bustle dress. I'm sorry Nikki, but I'm not a big fan of the 1830's, such a strange era for fashion. lol. you seem to pull it off pretty well though.
Lee-am I wonder how many of these couples are patrons and benefactors of the Opera? Perhaps they should mention pulling their funding....and how does one board member make such a decision? Chairman or not!
Boo on that director! I hope he learns the error of his ways. What a lovely place and so many great ensembles.

My goodness! That promenade is quite a bit of a workout, isn't it? So lovely to see everyone's outfits! You look beautiful, Nikki!
Oh this promenade is actually quite gentle... there are also ones... where casualties happen🙄
I have to say I love how the yellow dress look's on you.
Thank you 😊
The dance around 7:30 is so lovely. Right after the dress-winners gentlemans dance with LeeAm. You all look great!

😂😂😂
Zo mooi. I met my husband at a mascarade ball.
This was wonderful! You both look amazing! So many great costumes. Am so sorry this event is ending. Thank you for share the fun you had!
Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed it

When you just got into fashion history and wish to remake and era and something like this ends and breaks your heart. 😭😭😭
Ooooooh This is lovely! I'm sad it's the last year! Thank you for this!
The promenade looked like such fun!
Oh my this is so dreamy !
Lovely

Roxie Poe agreed! Maybe in New York, but in the Midwest everything is new! 1800’s
Aww thank you ❤️
How lovely!
Looks like so much fun! And Wow, that venue is breathtaking! How I wish I could go one day!
It’s so sad it was the last time 😔
@@Leeam Oh :( so sad. Well I'm glad you captured on video so we can admire all the dancing and costumes!

Aaaw thank you! And welcome to the channel! Oh and his name is Melchior😉
That was INCREDIBLE!!! It looked like you had a lovely time. :)
This is beautiful.
The reticule!
This looked like it was a fantastic time! Everyone looked so wonderful! I wish we had something like this near me.
It’s so “weird” to me, that we in Europe have much more of these events than you guys in the US
Lee-am, I have a dream to dance in a ball like this, it's a return to XIXth century. I cry when I see this images, it's so romantic, and your yellow dress is very beautiful.
Thank you very much! Maybe you attended a event like this too sometimes.

What fun you had!!
Wow!
Omg that is a beautiful place! 🥰
Wow that looks amazing! Too bad if it wouldn't continue.
Goodness, I didn't know this existed! I only spent a night in Ghent, by myself with no idea what there was too do. I'll have to return!
Unfortunately this was the last time😞
@@Leeam ❤️ Surely there are other fun and interesting reasons to visit! 🥰 I'm so glad you were able to attend.
Sad that this was the last New Year’s Ball in that stunning venue! Why was it the last?
Because the opera got a new director of the board. And he doesn’t want to organize it anymore.
I love your videos about all the different balls and events you attend!
Come play with us❤️❤️
I dream of this every day but I live in Spain.
There are also dance associations and balls in Spain! They’re all over the world.
Happy New Year! That was so much fun!
Happy new year!!
Does your fabulous yellow gown have 2 bodices or did you swap just the sleeves?
I swapped the sleeves! This week there will be a video up, on a easy trick to do that😉
I live in belgium and had no Idea this existed, and now it doesn't.. what a pity, where do you guys find out about this stuff?

what's the song played during the promenade? It's killing me.
Isn't it the Radetsky March?
Yup it is!
@@e.urbach7780 Oh my gosh, that's it, thank you!
I would feel like Cinderella here
Where was this held?
I think you look adorable in that mask
Why is the green dress short?
Purple not green
It’s a fancy dress costume
