But seeing someone else do it just a tiny bit differently has given me some good tips that I want to try next time to see if it make the process work just a little bit better for me. Great video with a nice close view of what you're doing. I especially appreciated the insert diagram that showed your order of stitches. It popped up at precisely the moment where I was like, "wait, what are they doing?" So yes, excellent timing there. Questions answered in real time.

The two threads you showed Amann Group Saba 30 and Gütermann Mara 30 are definitely different threads. Although both are 100% polyester they are from different brands and as you identified twisted differently. The construction of Saba 30 (105 TEX) is a corespun thread meaning there's a continuous filament surrounded by staple spun polyester, whereas the Mara 30 (100 TEX) uses the Gütermann Micro Core Technology - which is a fancy way of saying multifilament - where each strand of the thread is made up of many fine continuous filaments. This would definitely account for different hand when sewing with them. Unfortunately Mara is relatively easy to buy (at least in North America, from Wawak). (Mara 100 is one of the most common threads in the world, it's Gütermann Sew All thread). I've been looking for Saba 120 thread (purely for experimental purposes) without much luck and I don't know any good sources for it. I will say however both Saba and Mara are threads focused on industrial or commercial use, so who knows what you might have access to if you live near some fashion industry (I don't, I have to put up with Australia's average online shopping options)

I learned closures from repairing commercially made ready to wear garments. Since I was having to re-attach them, that might have been a good hint that the method was poor - but instead I just assumed poor quality thread. Which, yes... But so much more. Thank you for being so comprehensive.

Awesome video, I was watching Noelle while I was doing repairs on costumes from the local high school drama department and I was sewing hooks and bars and thought hmm, I will head over here as Noelle suggested. I changed how I was sewing mine and it went so much faster. BTW Noelle said to let you know she sent me over. And now I have found a great new TH-camr to watch.

I didn't knotto secure the hook up by the top of the hook. I just sewed through the loops at the bottom. I've learned a valuable lesson today. Thank you.

Cool. I always wondered why men's and women's clothes fastened opposite to each other. Closure sewing party! Woo Hoo!! What a great hook sewing tutorial. It makes so much sense why you do it. Interesting that you sew on the hooks in the same pattern as you tighten the nuts when you change a tire. Keeps the tension even. I get it! And that is the first time anyone has told me why a herringbone stitch is important. The outfit is fabulously floofy. I adore it. You look completely charming in it. I hate wax for thread also. I use thread magic. I saw a video of Angela Clayton's where she talks about it and she wasn't kidding when she said it was way better than the wax. It has a texture that feels more like a pasty chapstick but my thread almost never tangles using it. The few times it has the knot is easy to fix. I just put some tension on my thread and the gently pull the knot and it pops right out.
Big compliments for your finished look, with the hair and jewelry so well turned out. I am currently reading a book of the letters of queen Sophia, wife of king WIllem III of The Netherlands, which has some paintings of contemporary ladies. And you have realy duplicated that look! Including the enormous puffy sleeves and the large off-the shoulder collar. And the hair with the ringlets and the crazy top knot (not in this vlog but in an earlier one, I think in England). As if you stepped out of one of these paintings. I am totally in awe of what you have accomplished. You must have been doing a lot of research!

Aww thank you☺️ don’t worry I didn’t remove any bows. The trick was to tack them down so they layed nicely instead of making an overlapping mess😅
