Yeah. During that scene, Peter didn't actually ask Edith about Mysterio's vitals, only whether the illusions were gone. So there's always a chance that he's still alive and he was just acting.
I enjoyed this movie a lot more than I thought. I think that the theme of "illusions" and "people believe what they want to believe" is very relevant today. Well Done!!
when peter left the bar and mysterio started showing who he really is, i was kinda shell shocked. even though i knew he was a villain from the comics. jake gyllenhaal is just that good.
I was like "Ah so we're about to do your sudden but inevitable betrayal scene... ooooh that's a pretty interesting backstory, now this is super well done." But I could almost believe he wasn't gonna turn. Almost.

Mysterio's illusion sequence is absolutely one of my favorite MCU scenes period. I was hopeful to see something like that in a Spider-Man movie, but never thought I'd see it done so well. Props to the marketing team for tricking audiences into believing Mysterio could be a hero in the MCU.. Even going so far as to introduce the idea of the multiverse to the MCU to fool us. I absolutely loved it. Great movie

Mysterio far surpassed my expectations. Jake Gyllenhaal was terrific and the character was portrayed faithfully. I'm not a huge fan of how the MCU is doing some of the Spider-Man stuff (e.g. techie suit, Flash) but the villains including Michael Keaton are easily high points.

i can get a normal person holding onto a grudge to someone like tony but i did think it was a shame that they were still that vengeful considering he saved half of the universe
Considering that his former employees attempted to murder several children that they did not even know, after Stark got killed protecting the world (and helped in their resurrection probably?), I'd say the only way it could reflect badly on him was that he hired them in the first place.
If the bus isn't accelerating then technically only air resistance would slow him down, his horizon inertia would not change just because he jumps vertically

Hi Grace, as a Czech person and a Spidey fan since I was 3, I was deligted that some of the movie was shot here. But I wanted to clear some things up😃 As far as I know, the light festival is completely made up and the fight with Molten Man was actually shot in another one of our cities, Liberec. The cathedral Spidey spies from isn't actually in Prague. But I have to give a movie credit for the unexpected inclusion of one of our actual news stations CT24 with the real reporter😃 That got the biggest laugh out of my local audience. Great movie and review. Loved them both😍

I love how Watts hinted at that by having Gyllenhaal pass by in street clothes at the briefest of points during the airport arrival scenes towards the end. Heck, I've seen _Far From Home_ twice and I couldn't spot him.
Just got out watching it! The reveal that Mysterio is a group of disgruntled Stark employees was great, and I wished they’d gone even deeper with the callbacks (they only had two).

Unless the bus is accelerating or changing direction, it is stationary in Peter's frame of reference (and the road and landscape are zooming backwards underneath them both). That's physics for you. (And "accelerating" here means actually changing velocity, not just pushing the accelerator to maintain a constant speed against friction.)
Its interesting because the villains then made Peter their personal targets after he chose to do the right thing. It shows how he's not responsible yet and I love that

Had Tony shown appreciation for Beck's work, making Beck a world famous computer scientist, would Beck have started the whole mysterio thing? Sure there's no way to know for sure, and you'll probably argue those two are greedy people and they'll end up doing what they did anyway, but in movies these are presented as chains of events, as opposed to random incidents which have no relation to each other. Tony's action inadvertently led to their action.
Just saw the movie and absolutely loved it! I'm from The Netherlands so when Peter actually showed up here, there were a lot laughs and cheers from the audience! Such a fun surprise
I loved the spider sense scene from the end of the movie. It really showcased this ability. The line, "Thor was a myth, now I study him in physics." Awesome!
Ned is like a lot of friends. I've had friends turn into monsters because they started dating. Very often when a gut gets serious with his relationship, his friendships suffer. Threatened male friends might even throw a few, "bros before [ladies]".
All things considered, Ned is a pretty good friend to Peter. He never tried to exploit Peter for money or anything, he stood by him and wasn't upset that Peter didn't tell him he was Spidey until Ned found out, he's fine helping Peter with superhero stuff and never complains, etc.
I want to see her do some of the detective work with Spiderman, or at least be apart of the team somehow. I liked the MJ they did in the PS4 game. Something like that would be cool.
As a Dutchie, I loved the way we were represented. It's a cosy version of our country and the football fans were spot on. I also appreciated the actual Dutch accents and Dutch (famous) actors in the cameos.
You do realize that the "day player" you've highlighted from "Iron Man" and this film is Peter Billingsley, right? Jon Favreau's producing partner and Ralphie from "A Christmas Story". "You'll shoot yer eye out, kid!"
It's very surprising that Grace didn't know that. But I guess its excusable because, on screen, Mr Billingsley does not look a lot like himself at all.
I find it fascinating that Tony has helped out Peter in so many ways but is also indirectly the cause behind his troubles because both Spiderman villains vulture and Mysterio had a thing against Tony and Peter in the attempt to stop them made them his own enemies.

Ned's a great friend of Peter. He covered for Spiderman when needed. He's a teenager and clearly acted like one. You can't expect them to be so unbelievably mature like the teenagers from Dawson's Creek.
I really loved that Mysterio (who originally in the comic was a visual effects guy), for half of the movie, is wearing a VFX onesie. It was a great callback!
Did Grace refer to Peter Billingsley as a day player extra? JFC. He's not just a random extra they plucked from obscurity to bring back into the MCU. He was Ralphie in A Christmas Story. As an adult he's Vince Vaughn's producing partner, which establishes his connection with Jon Favreau. In fact, Billingsley was an executive producer of Iron Man. How does someone who covers movie news, particularly genre films, not know this? Also, as to Peter Parker jumping out of the sunroof of the bus. He wouldn't be stationary. It's called inertia - he continues to travel forward with the momentum of the bus. What would slow him down, however, is the wind once he was out of contact with the vehicle. Without his own method of propulsion he wouldn't be able to maintain the inertia from the speed of the bus, unless he remained in contact with it - maybe a strand of webbing we didn't see?

I cried so much throughout this movie, I felt Peter's pain, and that sequence in the illusions when Mysterio force Peter to see Tony's grave and blames him for it, and then Tony's corpse in the suit comes at him, just wow. I liked how the scene where MJ confronts him was handled because when he actually tells her that he is, in fact, Spider-Man she looks so shocked and says, I was only 67% sure. Some of my favorite moments: Peter reminding himself that it's just an illusion when going against the biggest one in London, Peter closing his eyes and relying on the Peter Tingle to get through the drones and get to Beck, and of course figuring out he was pointing a gun at him from the side at the end, and the illusions, I felt so bad for Peter and just as lost at him, it was incredible! I liked the movie overall, and I am surprised so much of it was kept a secret, I feel I would have been more excited going in had I known some of the things I could expect. I mean, I knew Mysterio is a villain and I think they drop the ball in trying to cover that so much during the press tour
The fact that Spidey doesn't have his secret identity anymore is such a DISAPPOINTMENT. It was a disaster when it was done in the comics and it will be the same thing here. Spidey secret identity is like Batman not killing. Also when will he become the angry and independent peter parker. Right now he is a mix of white Miles Morales and Iron Man 2.0

The Mysterio reveal was tops! I love how they came up with the name for him as the Italian word. A little disappointed that for the moment a multiverse doesn't exist, but I'm crossing my fingers that Mysterio's screen writer pulled from rumors in the world as inspiration for that back story. Also, as some one that didn't watch Captain Marvel and was not aware of the twist in it, i was super confused with the End End Credit scene. Really great movie overall.
Ned is a terrible friend? Really, Grace? I disagree. I think he’s been incredibly loyal and strong for never revealing who Spider-Man really is. I think he deserves a lot of credit for that.
For the bullet train scene, Tolby movies downplays it, but I think many people forgot Spiderman is not just super strong but super durable as well. This is a guy who can lift up a building or survive one crushed on him.
Mystereo never transferred ownership back to Peter, when he grabbed the glasses he didn't actually take over control, EDITH was just following a scrip Mystereo had prepared for her so he could frame him in the video leak. Notice how EDITH asks peter specifically in that weird way so he would say "yes execute them all", and also tell him that there are no illusions, because there's still one more drone left to make Peter think he's dead.

Peter would not be stationary, but if the bus was going near or above 60 mph/100 kph the air resistance would definitely have caused him to be pushed away from the bus roof opening.
Peter would act as a ball the typical "If I throw a ball up while inside a moving vehicle" question. The ball is moving forward. The ball goes up because of the force applied by you and forward because of inertia
The band appearing out of no where with nothing but a few bumps from the players was funny, but it reminds us of people arriving out of no where at a different time than they left, and that the world went on without them. Some of those people would have been driving in cars, flying in planes, sailing on ship out in the ocean, and then reappeared out there to drown, fall from the skies to their deaths, be thrown thru the air into other cars on the highways and die, etc... Tho billions of people on earth were returned from oblivion, there must have been millions of casualties, and deaths, many of them in front of other people as they appeared in traffic in front of your oncoming car, and being smashed to death by you, and other horrific ways. There would probably be more trauma from this than from their disappearing in the first place.
I know I'm going to sound like a total dork Grace, but Peter was fine jumping out of the bus and being able to hop back in with no issue. It's a physics principle. Like if you're on a train and throw a ball in the air, notice that you'll still catch it because the ball moves with the train. Okay, I'm done now. Great review as always!

His motivation was extremely weak. Pretty much a cartoon villain.

The Mysterio reveal was spellbinding. The fight scenes and illusions were a standout as well.
The fact that all those former Stark employees had a vendetta against Tony speaks pretty badly to his character which I think was spot on.

Unless the bus is accelerating or changing direction, it is stationary in Peter's frame of reference (and the road and landscape are zooming backwards underneath them both). That's physics for you. (And "accelerating" here means actually changing velocity, not just pushing the accelerator to maintain a constant speed against friction.)

Had Tony shown appreciation for Beck's work, making Beck a world famous computer scientist, would Beck have started the whole mysterio thing? Sure there's no way to know for sure, and you'll probably argue those two are greedy people and they'll end up doing what they did anyway, but in movies these are presented as chains of events, as opposed to random incidents which have no relation to each other. Tony's action inadvertently led to their action.

As a Dutchie, I loved the way we were represented. It's a cosy version of our country and the football fans were spot on. I also appreciated the actual Dutch accents and Dutch (famous) actors in the cameos.

The illusion sequences are easily some of my favorite scenes in a cbm
I find it fascinating that Tony has helped out Peter in so many ways but is also indirectly the cause behind his troubles because both Spiderman villains vulture and Mysterio had a thing against Tony and Peter in the attempt to stop them made them his own enemies.
jake gyllenhal was awesome in this movie.especially in the second half.his performance was top notch.the illusions were on point.did not see that coming.the hype indeed is real.i recommend people see it to avoid spoilers.
The Mysterio illusions were AMAZING! The first one in the building was hands down my favorite scene from the movie.

Ned's a great friend of Peter. He covered for Spiderman when needed. He's a teenager and clearly acted like one. You can't expect them to be so unbelievably mature like the teenagers from Dawson's Creek.

Also, as to Peter Parker jumping out of the sunroof of the bus. He wouldn't be stationary. It's called inertia - he continues to travel forward with the momentum of the bus. What would slow him down, however, is the wind once he was out of contact with the vehicle. Without his own method of propulsion he wouldn't be able to maintain the inertia from the speed of the bus, unless he remained in contact with it - maybe a strand of webbing we didn't see?

I cried so much throughout this movie, I felt Peter's pain, and that sequence in the illusions when Mysterio force Peter to see Tony's grave and blames him for it, and then Tony's corpse in the suit comes at him, just wow. I liked how the scene where MJ confronts him was handled because when he actually tells her that he is, in fact, Spider-Man she looks so shocked and says, I was only 67% sure. Some of my favorite moments: Peter reminding himself that it's just an illusion when going against the biggest one in London, Peter closing his eyes and relying on the Peter Tingle to get through the drones and get to Beck, and of course figuring out he was pointing a gun at him from the side at the end, and the illusions, I felt so bad for Peter and just as lost at him, it was incredible! I liked the movie overall, and I am surprised so much of it was kept a secret, I feel I would have been more excited going in had I known some of the things I could expect. I mean, I knew Mysterio is a villain and I think they drop the ball in trying to cover that so much during the press tour

The fact that Spidey doesn't have his secret identity anymore is such a DISAPPOINTMENT. It was a disaster when it was done in the comics and it will be the same thing here. Spidey secret identity is like Batman not killing.

The Mysterio reveal was tops! I love how they came up with the name for him as the Italian word. A little disappointed that for the moment a multiverse doesn't exist, but I'm crossing my fingers that Mysterio's screen writer pulled from rumors in the world as inspiration for that back story. Also, as some one that didn't watch Captain Marvel and was not aware of the twist in it, i was super confused with the End End Credit scene. Really great movie overall.

For the bullet train scene, Tolby movies downplays it, but I think many people forgot Spiderman is not just super strong but super durable as well. This is a guy who can lift up a building or survive one crushed on him.

Mystereo never transferred ownership back to Peter, when he grabbed the glasses he didn't actually take over control, EDITH was just following a scrip Mystereo had prepared for her so he could frame him in the video leak. Notice how EDITH asks peter specifically in that weird way so he would say "yes execute them all", and also tell him that there are no illusions, because there's still one more drone left to make Peter think he's dead.

Peter would not be stationary, but if the bus was going near or above 60 mph/100 kph the air resistance would definitely have caused him to be pushed away from the bus roof opening.

Peter would act as a ball the typical "If I throw a ball up while inside a moving vehicle" question. The ball is moving forward. The ball goes up because of the force applied by you and forward because of inertia
The band appearing out of no where with nothing but a few bumps from the players was funny, but it reminds us of people arriving out of no where at a different time than they left, and that the world went on without them. Some of those people would have been driving in cars, flying in planes, sailing on ship out in the ocean, and then reappeared out there to drown, fall from the skies to their deaths, be thrown thru the air into other cars on the highways and die, etc...
Tho billions of people on earth were returned from oblivion, there must have been millions of casualties, and deaths, many of them in front of other people as they appeared in traffic in front of your oncoming car, and being smashed to death by you, and other horrific ways. There would probably be more trauma from this than from their disappearing in the first place.
I know I'm going to sound like a total dork Grace, but Peter was fine jumping out of the bus and being able to hop back in with no issue. It's a physics principle. Like if you're on a train and throw a ball in the air, notice that you'll still catch it because the ball moves with the train. Okay, I'm done now.
