YAAAAS! This scene is one of my favorites too, it's on par with Joan Cusacks Debbie in "Addams Family Values" where she screams about the MALIBU BARBIE and how GRACEFUL she was and that her parents had to die because they didn't get her the BALLERINA BARBIE! 🤣🤣🤣
I remember vividly seeing this in the theater several times. The audience screamed with laughter through this movie each time. This really is an underrated comedy. The cast is fantastic. The plot is a riot, and the writing is gold. How this one slipped through the cracks amazes me.
@@coloradoing9172 Wrong or not enough advertising? Also, maybe the film world wasn't too thrilled looking into a mirror. How this got greenlit in the 90's is something I would like to know. This movie was so ahead of its time because beside the hilarious plot it shows you how this machinery actually works and that most people in power there are the worst selfish creatures you can imagine. You can watch it today and it still is 90% true. Ask the people who are on strike now.
Montana got what she deserved. She was trying to get ahead at the expense of misery on other people. Wanted to get Celeste and Rose fired, made up a lie about her and Jeffrey, plus knowing her friend Ariel liked Jeff, and deceived David. Ariel is the one that got the revenge though. I liked that a minor character Ariel exposed Montana instead of a major character like Celeste or Jeff.
Earlier, Montana gave Ariel Moloney (Dr. Monica Demonico) the all clear to go after Jeffrey. But after Montana's false pregnancy claim made the news- in her desperate bid for the spotlight- Ariel's claws came out, so to speak.
@Áine Ní Gabhann I sincerely don't think they were trying to make any misogynistic or anti-transgender commentary with "Soapdish", a movie that was made LONG before the fight for equality in the LGBT community began to have the face it has now. It's just supposed to be a movie soap opera and crazy stuff happens on soap operas all the time. It's not like they were saying "We should hate Montana Moorehead because she's transgender." If they'd gone in that direction, you'd definitely have a point. No, we're supposed to hate her because she's a villainous snake in the grass who would do anything to get ahead and come out on top. This just happened to be a small twist that explains her ruthlessness, nothing more.
For two minutes. After all, at the very end, while everyone else is winning Daytime Emmys for "The Sun Also Sets", Montana/Milton is shamed all the way to the Florida retirement center/dinner theater Jeffrey was working at.
@@AngelofMusic04 Agreed, the complete disregard for her identity is the problem I have with the joke. But I think the Character herself is super funny and an iconic villain.
People are jeering about the character being revealed as trans and their deadname outed in public. This is outing a queer person and using their identity as a weapon. It isn't a funny joke. It isn't an own when destroying a villain is done in a way that is insidious, evil, and immoral.
This is the happiest, funniest and saddest scene in Soapdish, the funniest because the evil and conniving Montana Morehead got what she deserved when she was exposed and the happiest and saddest when Lori Craven finally accepted her parents and when around the set are all crying buckets of tears.

Funny how this could never be done today with the way this wacky world works. There would be so much cancel culture backlash. “Oh they doxed her” “oh they dead named her” “if a trans person can get their period they can also get pregnant” “reeeee reeee reeee!”
Shout out to my Dad who played as the camera man in the background
The one in the yellow jacket behind Kathy Najimy? He's very cute.
Shoutout to my late uncle who created and performed the song in the credits!
Jenna Smith Actually no the one that caught Kathy Najimy is my dad
Thank you
Mention the time he appears
The way Whoopi Goldberg says “Hello” at 1:37 is hilarious!
The yearbook photo close-up gets me every time. 🤣🤣🤣
Milton Moorehead of Syosset Long Island. Hello!
Cathy Moriarty is great in this film. She also has great lines: "I'm sweet. I'm tender. I'm a victim" All while twisting Robert Downey's hair.

That scene is also etched in my memory--"I'm NOT a Malibu Barbie"--as she's about to electrocute the entire family. @@xamalion7334
I remember when I saw this at the movies, the whole audience ROARED at this scene. Everybody was DYING. XD
I LOOOOOOVE this movie!! One of my all timers. Every time it's on tv...I'm watching it.
And RDJ's insanely brilliant underplayed reaction. Genius.

I watched it three times! I loved this movie.
Then why was it a financial and critical failure?
@@coloradoing9172 For the same reason trash movies like Fast and Furious are hits. You can't predict what the dipshits will like.

@coloradoing9172 Why don't you shut up? And why don't you do your research? The movie was reviewed positively by critics and audiences loved it.
Lol I'm from Syosset. I'm so happy whoopie pronounced it correctly 🤣
"i didn't sleep with her! will somebody please believe me?!" lol
They all say that but DNA proves otherwise 🤣🤣
I've always found it so interesting that this movie basically tanked in the US and did really well in Europe.
It's a cult classic worldwide.
As a European I can agree - it is cult classic!
It did better with video and DVD sales don't worry it's legacy it's intact.
@@dj4monie indeed, my cousins wore out their tape of it, partly because of me running it every time I visited!
Robert downey jr's reaction at the end!!! lmfao!!!
I can see it now, him in a bathroom toilet vomiting depressively with a plunger listening to The Crying Game on repeat.
That scene never gets old 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂👌
Hi beautiful.
Cathy Moriarty looks like Faye Dunaway
Oh good, it's not just me

Robert Downey Jr. pre-Ironman days

elizabeth shue is totally underrated
I love her in Adventures in Babysitting.
"...because, before she came to our little clinic, She vaaasss, Milton Moorehead of Syosset, Long Island. Hello." Snort!
NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Syossot. FFS.
Only in a daytime soap could an audience buy Whoopi Goldberg with a German accent.
Syosset is the correct spelling 😊
*Tawny faints into the arms of the cameraman*
Elisabeth Shue looks like she can be Sally Field’s daughter
