In telling everyone to vote for Trump. This is very scary what's happening. I'm 73 and can't get food stamps because I make too much money. My only source of income is Social Security. In the past two years my rent has gone up first 76 bucks, then 29 the next. I'm now paying 846 a month. My income is 1655 a month. I'm doing all I can to inform people to vote for Trump before it's too late!!!!!

Yes, social security is income. The most you will get for foodstamps is $12-22, that's it! Meanwhile, our elders are being taxed on social security income, and then they go send billions to foreign countries using that tax money along with everyone else's tax money
Sounds like you have low rent compared to where I live in Glendale, Az. Thought food stamp eligibility also took expenses into consideration. Worth asking. Also known people who get more than $12 food stamps because their monthly SS barely covers their rent, if they can even find a place. My disabled vet roommate was forced out of his apartment because his pay no longer covered his rent, so he ow has a room, but a roof, but farther away from work. Corporate greed has sucked up the affordable housing that now cater primarily to the rich. Sorry for the rant.

Taxing a 25 year old with 2 kids with a minimum of a home mortgage the same as an 80 year old with no dependants or debt seems harsh on the younger people. I'm not saying the system we have is working, it just seems like a stupidly complicated problem to solve.
This is why I wonder if taxing off net worth would be more beneficial, I'm not sure though. What does everyone else think?
