I’ve gotta agree, the normal villagers tend to be my favorites. At one point I had Molly, Fauna, and Melba on my island at the same time and while they are all adorable and sweet, they are...the exact same....
The difficulty with adding more dialogue is that they need to localize it in many different languages. Also, i don’t believe the problem is that there isn’t enough dialogue, it’s that they keep on repeating the things about the day of the week and stuff like that. I’m sure the original had the same problem with the villagers repeating dialogue.
I have some really awesome conversations with my villagers, it doesn't happen that often, but one that stuck with me the most was when Bubbles dissed Bob for not knowing how to tie a shoelace. She basically lost it when he said that he wore sandals because he didn't know how to tie a shoelace. Bubbles went on and on about how it was basic knowledge and that everyone knew how to do that, when they finished arguing Bubbles had the angry animation and Bob the sadness animation.
There are a few villagers that are more interesting because they have a sort of secondary personality tacked on, which shows up in certain conversations. Bubbles really likes sports so she can (sometimes) have conversations about working out, which is more interesting than most peppy villagers. I think the best part of having a variety of villager personalities comes from different conversations between combinations of personalities. Personally, my favorite personality type is sisterly, I really relate to them talking about when they used to babysit or when they talk about their parents.
My fav personality is probably the normal ones 🙃 but I get so annoyed hearing ketchup say the same thing about the same TV show everytime she’s crafting. I do have a sweet spot for Octavian he is super sweet
"We want the villagers to have more sass so it's more entertaining!" Me who wants my villagers to have sass so I can host; *Animal Crossing: Underground Rap Battle*
So talking to villagers multiple times while they are in their house *not crafting * actually leads to some interesting stuff. That's the best dialgoue I've been able to find. How about a short video on hobbies? Or include them in a future video? Since hobbies dictate more of what the villagers do when they're wandering around outside and not interacting with you. It was a long time before I realized there was actually a reason Marshal and Pashmina were singing in random spots - music hobby! Personalities also determine some of the recipes the villagers craft. Need apple stuff or iron garden furniture? Sisterly. So it's useful to have all personalities around while collecting the basic diys.
i played city folk before i played new horizons, and something about the snooty personality type just hit different in the old games... i definitely fell in love with yuka the koala even though she would boss me around and tell me my clothing choices were awful. in new horizons they just feel like normal villagers with a fancier vocabulary. i’m a simp for the snooty girls of the old games 😭
Back then, people didn't care about the villager's design, all they cared about was how rude they were. But now that they removed all that sass, the only thing to judge is their appearances! Also, my favorite personality has to be sisterly villagers. They are so nice and strong.
WHY DO THEY HAVE TO MAKE THE NORMAL VILLAGERS SO CUTE? i can’t control myself wanting fauna, merengue, June, Skye, Molly etc. on my island all at the same time but I have to limit myself to 3 normals. A good thing is that this makes me care for my normal villagers more, especially Tia who I chose over Merengue when my offered got accepted at the same time! I am sick of hearing how the weather is good for drying their laundry though…. *cough* cough* MARINA AND MAPLE *cough* cough*
Yeah, it’s so annoying that all of the cute villagers are all of the normals. Not saying that other villagers with different personalities aren’t cute or anything...
Wants: -no gendered personalities. Gimme some lazy girls and normal boys! -combo personalities. It’d be cool to see a smug jock pulling from two dialogue pools -Type A, B and maybe C versions of a personality. It’d be cool to see jock variants who specialize in different sports, or uchis that could be introverted versus extroverted. I don’t know, something to make em more distinct from one another
I'd love to see a video on feng sui in ACNH. I've looked up multiple guides and they all have conflicting information about whether or not it affects anything other than HHA score. One guide said yellow gives more bells from balloons, red is better furniture (balloons + shop) and green is luck (DIY and more?). Game8 had a detailed guide called "Feng Sui color and effect guide," and I think it'd be cool if you could test their findings and confirm once and for all for us! Your guides are sooo helpful!
I am definitely not up to the level of creating a game, but I have taking simple kid coding classes. It’s really not that easy with so many villagers to code for, and making sure that they don’t repeatedly say the same thing. All the same, i do wish the conversation would be better, but let’s still cut some slack.
normals (i always think of them as “sweet” since normal doesnt really make sense to me ahsjsj) are SUCH sweethearts. i got so emotionally attached to my first ever sweet villager (margie) because she was just so lovely and kind :((( also the peppys are some of the cutest but their dialogue is SO repetitive and obvious, i cant stand having more than one peppy at a time since then it feels like everyone is just talking about being a pop start ahsnsns
My favorite type is Lazy and I'm happy to have with Cube and Hornsby two different sub types on my island. They really feel like two different personalities somehow.
I just found a villager dialogue between a lazy and a jock villager (it's new for me so I was a bit surprised about it) and they somehow mentioned that they were taking a walk outside the island (weird) and they found a kid who was happy and laughing, but when the kid looked at them he started crying and they were fighting and calling each other names until I started talking to them in which they asked me who I thought made the kid cry. One of the options was asking them why they were together and they began rambling on if I thought they were going out together (as in dating) and then said that they wouldn't date each other, which lead into them getting offended by the reasons why they wouldn't date the other. At the end they ended up solving the problem but the mention of them probably dating reminded my of the gossipy comments villagers made about the other sometimes, which is probably the only interactions with my villagers I miss (personally, in my oppinion) from New Leaf and Wild World.
You know what, I want variety between each personality. I keep running into peppy villagers that say they want to be a pop star, lazy villagers who ONLY talk about snacks and sleep, and jocks who have an insane workout routine. Come on Nintendo, you kick it out of the ballpark when it comes to small details, but it really seems like all villagers of the same personality are exactly identical when it comes to personality.
I noticed different conversations in my lazy and cranky villagers. I've had 4 lazy villagers: Zucker, Erik, Walker, and Drake. I noticed certain dialogues are only spoken by Zucker and Erik that is never spoken by Walker and Drake. Zucker and Erik sometimes talk about flying, superheroes, and afraid of the dark. Walker and Drake talk about being mature, an altered version of Cinderella, and random wonderings like why cacti have needles/why is water clear? With cranky villagers I have Apollo and Gonzo. Apollo doesn't respond to reactions but Gonzo does. Apollo talks about lots of general advice while Gonzo talks about reminiscing olden days and being unable to look good in photos
Note: Your first campsite villager will NOT always be smug! I’ve seen tons of people with smug villagers as their first, but mine was Chevre (Normal), meaning, no, your first campsite villager does NOT have a 100% chance of being smug!
My lazy and sisterly villagers are my favorite. Shari gives me confidence and I know she’s just a npc but I’m so attached. Also my lazys are just so cute and I like them
a way to make it more varied is if nintendo add dialogue specifically for a villagers hobby, like the ones who like nature talking about nature a lot more (not just lazys talking about bugs and flowers) but ones with the excersise hobby would have to be different from the jock convos...
My favorite personality is probably smug only because I caught two of my smug villagers (Lopez and O’Hare) in a great conversation where they kept listing the things they’d need to bring for a vacation and they just looked so happy :)
I found Molly today in my campsite (a complete shock, as I usually am so unlucky with the campsite). The even better part was that I already had an open plot of land because Canberra just moved out, so I wouldn’t have to pay for a plot of land. So now Molly (who is literally so freaking cute) is moving to my island tomorrow, but now I have three normals (I think, I could be wrong tho) on my island and I don’t have the willpower to get rid of any of them cause they’re all so adorable! (Molly, Chevre, Ellie, again they might not even be normal, I just assumed that they were)
I wish villagers had sub personality type that way they can easily differentiate in dialogues of the same type. So a Lazy villagers would have subtype of something like "Dirty", which would basically talk more about bugs, (even give you tips on how to catch a few you do have) and snacks, they have a bigger appreciation to gifts such as Food or Bugs. While something like "Loafer" they don't talk about bugs but more of things like avoiding chores, what was on tv or the radio, taking naps or tips on how do more work while spending less energy; you can always find them sleeping under a tree, sitting down, maybe they sleep in later than usual.
Great video! I really miss just having the villagers ask you to do more tasks than "go deliver this to villager x cause we had a fight" and the occasional "get this bug for me!" Also, since each of the villagers have the "hobbies" that dictate what they'll do when milling about (like Audie will lift weights more often than Roscoe cause she has the fitness hobby), it's a missed opportunity for the devs not to pepper that into the dialogue variations.
My favorite thing is how youtubers talk about “the developers” like there aren’t creative directors, designers and copywriters taking exponentially too long making decisions about things like new dialogue. Is it easy to program new dialogue? Probably. Does it take far too long for all the creatives involved to get things approved? Absolutely.
I don't think I've ever had snooty if I did I never had sisterly but my favorite personality is cranky I have tom and cyd, I like their dialog it's not as predictable like for example tom once said "kids these days can't even do math like what's 25 + 17, it's 48" and they are just so unique compared to other villagers
Sure the villagers have same type personality category but i can always tell difference with mine. Like for example, when i had Chadder he would talk to everyone and hardly ever cry, didn’t care about flowers either. Now that i have Colton he’s a little more sensitive and not as social, talks about flowers a lot to
I think any of the more vague personalities are my favorite. I don't like cranky for instance since it's all just "My bones are aching, kiddo." But then with sisterly, normal, or smug villagers, they don't have some gimmick and have SOME variation.
I'd say wild world has the best dialogue in the series. Perfect balance in terms of variety, depth and sass as well as a sense of friendship developing over time.
Flora said to me "You can do so many things at resident services like get a permit or pay fines for not having a permit...". She also said she keeps the door unlocked for the HHA because she loves winning prizes
I like the idea of more personalities. Like, I feel there should be more than 10, so you don’t need to have a duplicate. Or, maybe make personalizes that aren’t based on gender. It could be difficult making up new personalities, but there’s millions in the real world, just ask around the meeting table to find something.
Hey there! Lov the vids. I was wondering why most of my villagers talk about exercise. This video helps because I thought I was stuck with that villager genre.
I had rodeo, a lazy villager... he was constantly working out. Like constantly. The only time he wasn't lifting the little weight, doing little workouts, or doing yoga was when he was crafting, or moving to a different place to work out. It was ridiculous. Even my jock villagers don't do that.
yeah, i loved Knox and his cranky personality in new leaf, it felt so nice watching how his iced heart melted, now i have chief as cranky and... well we all know how thing are.
I wish they added some sass to the villagers or even the fact that they will want to play tag or visit your home. In new leaf, running around looking for villagers was so fun.
2:42 Yoooo I knew it. I thought I noticed that some villagers of the same type of personality have a different type of voice so i think that goes along with it.
So I’m a programmer by trade. And while adding more dialog would be very easy, the hard part is making conversations seem organic. Eventually, everything starts to feel like part of the list of things the game has people say. More variety would help, though. ;) I haven’t played the original, which is how I might get a feel for how it pulls off what I’ve seen - people remembering that it’s conversations felt like the villager chose a path about how they felt about you and then stuck to it, in a way that made things feel more organic.
I actually feel like if you actually talk to them daily your relationship changes. Not just by points. My sisterly used to act bothered by me asking her to talk. Now she’s the one that sends me the most letters and gifts. I get more requests to play. Asked questions. Reply to a letter and they bring up things you mentioned. When you chat.
I fell in love with animal crossing for the personalities and delightful fun of it all even if they’re rude to me. Personality means everything to me because that’s who I am. I actually encourage my very best friend (real life) to sass and roast me because I do it to her and it’s really really fun. But I feel new horizons is dull and needs more because the only thing I feel motivated to do with my villagers is give gifts then run away for the rest of the day. I want the delightful little gems of dialogue I sometimes find like Chops admitting he got a crush on Tom
I love Cranky personalities. Del is essentially a battleship, Apollo is a bald Eagle, so they fit my aesthetic perfectly. I also love Cyrano and Walt. Snootys are second, with Monique being queen and Tasha being top of my dreamie list. I had 2 Smugs on my island and I had to put the kibosh on that. But Stella is my precious baby and I'd go to war got her.

My fav personality is probably the normal ones 🙃 but I get so annoyed hearing ketchup say the same thing about the same TV show everytime she’s crafting. I do have a sweet spot for Octavian he is super sweet
That one about trains in love ?
Freakin Maglevs in Love
@@samboi123 I don’t care if maglev mike took their relationship of the rails frickin flora
( flora is peppy )
@@samboi123 That's peppy villagers.
"We want the villagers to have more sass so it's more entertaining!"
Me who wants my villagers to have sass so I can host;
*Animal Crossing: Underground Rap Battle*
Cranky villagers are my favorite because I like how they’re all depicted as old men 😂
I wish they wouldn’t go “Gahaha” after every sentence though.
That's so cool!
i played city folk before i played new horizons, and something about the snooty personality type just hit different in the old games... i definitely fell in love with yuka the koala even though she would boss me around and tell me my clothing choices were awful. in new horizons they just feel like normal villagers with a fancier vocabulary. i’m a simp for the snooty girls of the old games 😭
Back then, people didn't care about the villager's design, all they cared about was how rude they were. But now that they removed all that sass, the only thing to judge is their appearances!
Also, my favorite personality has to be sisterly villagers. They are so nice and strong.
I'm a kid and I would honestly love villager drama and interesting dialogue
I gotta tell the babies at the hospital about this- oh it's THAT personality... oh.
The funny thing is I've been playing the game for over a year and I already know about this, but I just love listening to Kora explaining things!
Yeah, it’s so annoying that all of the cute villagers are all of the normals. Not saying that other villagers with different personalities aren’t cute or anything...
Most of my dreamies are either normal or smug :(
I have a lot of peppy
Most of my favourites are snooty
wait did you just use monkaS as a greeting for Bam?
you are my officially favorite youtuber now
Wants:
-no gendered personalities. Gimme some lazy girls and normal boys!
-combo personalities. It’d be cool to see a smug jock pulling from two dialogue pools
-Type A, B and maybe C versions of a personality.
I love the part of the video where it says in text "Youre never moving" to Merry
normals (i always think of them as “sweet” since normal doesnt really make sense to me ahsjsj) are SUCH sweethearts. i got so emotionally attached to my first ever sweet villager (margie) because she was just so lovely and kind :(((
also the peppys are some of the cutest but their dialogue is SO repetitive and obvious, i cant stand having more than one peppy at a time since then it feels like everyone is just talking about being a pop start ahsnsns
The title of this video...I genuinely thought I was being called out.
I’m quite happy, because I have a full canine (dog and wolf) island with every type of personality!
I love lazy villagers aka zucker I have him on my island and he recently became my BEST FRIEND yes I know have the daydreaming reaction and I love him
Thumbs up if you found thisy
This video is so helpful I have started in February and I am always so confused about what personality they are
"I grew up fine, probably" Lmaoo
Congrats Kora! You earned a new fan!
2:20 My first campsite Villager was Tom, a Cranky Cat. I guess after him was Henry (Smug Frog)
My favorite type is Lazy and I'm happy to have with Cube and Hornsby two different sub types on my island. They really feel like two different personalities somehow.
Uchi (or sisterly in new horizons) is my favorite simply because they feel like they have the most life in them
I agree with that
I just found a villager dialogue between a lazy and a jock villager (it's new for me so I was a bit surprised about it) and they somehow mentioned that they were taking a walk outside the island (weird) and they found a kid who was happy and laughing, but when the kid looked at them he started crying and they were fighting and calling each other names until I started talking to them in which they asked me who I thought made the kid cry.
I just wish there were more sub category's s of Personalities, it just gets boring to listen to them say the same things everyday.
By the way, the description says Nookipedia, however the link points to the AC FANDOM one so yeah completely different wikis.
I'm stuck with 3 lazy villagers. Please help.
villagers’ voices depend on the personality
Wayment this is about to change how I view my campsite, that’s amazing
can we appreciate how you made fauna's catchphrase "wontons"
I found Molly today in my campsite (a complete shock, as I usually am so unlucky with the campsite). The even better part was that I already had an open plot of land because Canberra just moved out, so I wouldn’t have to pay for a plot of land. So now Molly (who is literally so freaking cute) is moving to my island tomorrow, but now I have three normals (I think, I could be wrong tho) on my island and I don’t have the willpower to get rid of any of them cause they’re all so adorable! (Molly, Chevre, Ellie, again they might not even be normal, I just assumed that they were)
Adding a set of sassy personality villagers would be a dream come true
Sisterly & Smug! But generally love all the personality types
I guess I love the Sisterly personality, but for me, only having one, I love Katt, my attachment to her is as real as can be
I got Marshal as my first campsite villager:
Now that i have Colton he’s a little more sensitive and not as social, talks about flowers a lot to
I love your vids who knew animal crossing can be so complicated
This video helps because
I thought I was stuck with that villager genre.
The sassy villagers who are mean will not effect me at all
Because my self esteem doesn't exist anymore
2:42 Yoooo I knew it. I thought I noticed that some villagers of the same type of personality have a different type of voice so i think that goes along with it.
So I’m a programmer by trade. And while adding more dialog would be very easy, the hard part is making conversations seem organic. Eventually, everything starts to feel like part of the list of things the game has people say.
More variety would help, though. ;)
I haven’t played the original, which is how I might get a feel for how it pulls off what I’ve seen - people remembering that it’s conversations felt like the villager chose a path about how they felt about you and then stuck to it, in a way that made things feel more organic.
They probably removed the sass to avoid twitter's idiocy since idiots get triggered by everything nowadays
