    This is probably the best well-explained video I've seen for Flair on TH-cam.

    Update a couple of years later: Swoop has been shut down by WestJet - looks like at least part of the video was correct >:)

    Amazing work!! I got to fly Flairs Boeing 737max inaugural flight last week. Felt so unreal a ULCC in Canada buying their first max aircraft

    You seriously deserve so much more. The quality of the videos that you put out are comparable and most of the time better than most aviation channels. Keep it up!

      @@brownbear1657 Even though Flair is growing like crazy there is a real feeling of "family" amongst the crew. We gather together on our days off and enjoy each others company. Looking forward to flying to Mexico in the New Year as well as Denver, Nashville and San Fransisco.

    • @michellemerry2337
      @michellemerry2337 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brownbear1657 There are the odd layovers right now. Perhaps one per week in YYC and one in YYZ for the lower mainland based crew (YXX and YVR). The flight attendants have their fingers crossed that there will be many more. Just doing turns every single day can be a bit much sometimes.

    I used to work for Wardair - (that hangar scene reminds me greatly of the press unveiling of WD's A310s and it's new Business Class back in 1989- so much so I wonder if the stock footage is from then). I worked at the National Aviation Museum (now the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum) in Ottawa and studied the airline industry at university at the same time. I've been out of the industry since the 1990s but have continued to follow it closely.
    This is the best analysis available to a layman I have ever seen. It may be a case study of Flair, but it certainly speaks to ULCCs worldwide- ie Jetstar and Qantas. Definitely subscribed- I look forward to seeing what else you guys are doing. Great looking website too. I'll be exploring that later as well. Cheers!

      @TheFlyingMooseCA  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really appreciate that! Great to hear from someone who worked for Wardair - never had the chance to fly it myself, but I've heard good things. It's largely forgotten by young people at this point, so that might be a future video :)

    Out of Toronto last night , Flair was the only flight available to Vancouver at last minute for a reasonable cost . Good for them .

    Westjet does seem to be fighting a price war with Flair. Just booked a flight from YYC to YWG. Round trip Westjet is $116, Flair $109, Lynx $99. But with Westjet you get a carry on in the overhead for free so it's actually cheaper (assuming you need more than a small bag under the seat on your trip.) Flair has also accused Westjet of predatory pricing. I guess we will see, but it will be hard for these ULCC start ups in our high fee environment.

    Terrible web site, can't get questions answered, no phone number, YYZ -YSJ times don't make any sense, shows 5 minute turn around time, can't tell if flight time is AM OR PM, TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE IF YOU CAN'T REACH THEM

    Great video, we have Flair coming into YYG this summer, It will be interesting to see which airline will dominate yyg-yyz-west jet, flair, or air Canada. One thing is flair charges for every carry on bag.

      We have dropped the prices for carry on bags. We do allow for one personal item (has to fit under the seat). As an ultra low cost carrier this is how we make our money. I am a flight attendant for Flair and look forward to welcoming you on board.

    How about Lynx Air? We recently flew Westjet(Wreck Jet) from Calgary to PV Mexico January 2022.The original direct flight down was cancelled(Threw email) just a few hours before we were going to leave at 3:11am for a 9:20am departure,We tried phoning several times on hold for several hours,Nobody answeres the phone(You have to phone them to make any changes).They flew us to Edmonton then to PV the whole experience was an absolute gong show.Seriously they didn't even have pilots to fly the plane to PV.

    • @TheFlyingMooseCA
      @TheFlyingMooseCA  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry to hear about your experience - safe to say few people were expecting so many new entrants (Lynx and a reborn Jetlines at least), and that changes the calculus for Flair. They do have deep pocketed backers, but their latest 100% base fare promotions might be a sign of trouble

  • @dpledoone

    Nice job. CASM in Canada is high because costs in Canada are structurally ridiculous (landing fees, gate fees, fuel). It’s counterintuitive, but flair’s new 737 Max fleet that it is building from cancelled orders may be the determining factor. They may have caught the wave as business and transborder travel will be the slowest to recover. Another wild card is the oil patch recovering and Flair’s YEG home base that is well positioned to benefit.

    I really hope Flair succeeds - we need a true ULCC in Canada but they really need to work hard and come up a new livery before they take delivery of anymore new Jets. The mint-green underbelly and that big black blob on the side of the plane looks very amateurish. They would be better off with just an all-white aircraft with "flair" stenciled on the side than the current eye-sore.
    I can't believe they got this far with a fleet that looks like this. To those who say it doesn't matter how the planes look I say don't underestimate the importance of a good looking livery in the creation of a valuable brand. Without a valuable brand no airline can get off the ground.
    Great job on the video!
