Mark Long I totally agree Wayne! It reminds me of picking up relatives at the airport looking so much to their visit when I lived in Australia such as my mum and sister! and I was missing home 😥 just like when auntie Madge and George used to visit along with Katrina flying back from Australia when I lived in England! It’s such an emotional scene! It’s my favourite capture of what working in an airport environment is really like!
As we say goodbye to 2020, this opening monologue seems more poignant than ever. Here's to 2021 when we can travel freely again, and hug everyone around us. Love is all around us!
"Love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there." When you think about it, the romantic comedy genre was long overdue for a film that celebrated the fact that love is widespread and commonplace, not something confined to one couple or one small group of couples.
Whenever i get gloomy with the state of the world, i think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion started to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but i don't see that. Seems that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there. Fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as i know, none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge. They were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around.
It's a little different from these two films but one I recommend is Starman. It's a little dated now but it's got memorable dialogue and Jeff Bridges steals the show.
i love this movie so much! it’s literally perfect in every single way: the music, the actors/actresses/stories/... i watch it every year and i always tear up no matter how many times i’ve watched this movie, every. single. time.
I think this film is perfect and I simply never get bored of it. I have just watched it again because my daughter asked be to, I said yes to please her but didn't really want to watch it. I forget just how powerful this movie is until I've watched it through. I've not got the music running through my head and an appreciation of how awesome this film is.
Watching this to remind myself that with all of the crap that's going on in England, and the world in general, that most of the human population is good and that banding together and promoting hope and tolerance will get the world through this terrible decade.
I have been trying to memorize this monologue for learning English. As I repeat and practice, I've got sneaky feeling that love actually is all around.
Those poorly done video clips of the scene uplift me every single time I watch it. When I go to the airport, departures or arrivals, the emotion is so raw and so uplifting and so universal..
Nice one Vanessa! I walked down the aisle to the British airways theme tune: the Flower Duet, on the 27th September 2014! It lasted only a few days and I spent all night alone with my ex husband on the phone to Ethan! I have decided I won’t marry again! I am happy to share my love with someone, but I don’t think I could go through heartbreak of a wedding day!
Amen. His love is manifested everywhere and His steadfast love never ceases, His mercies never come to an end, they are new every morning - great is Your faithfulness oh Lord! Whether believer in God or Atheist, we all feel and choose Love.
Do you ever feel that love does exist, just not for you? Sure, it exists in other ways. The love of your pets, your family, the remaining friends. But romantic love? Love with a partner? I don't think I was made for that.
Off to pick my wonderful girlfriend up from manchester airport now after she’s spent 3 weeks in Sri Lanka teaching yoga… this scene definitely sprang to mind 🥰😅😂
I checked almost all the comments. Nobody has mentioned the movie’s name. Which movie is this? Quite interested in watching the film after seeing this beautiful piece.
Portuguese Love Theme/PM Love Theme by Craig Armstrong. According to the source, Craig Armstrong uses 3 themes -the 2 mentioned above & Glasgow Love Theme "interchangeably throughout the film".
TH-cam... please stop putting crap ALL OVER THE SCREEN. Ugh. We can't even watch the video for all the ads and next videos and nonsense splashed on top of it.
Messylin how the fuck does it make you cringe, its true. All the phone calls weren't of hate, they were of love. To say good bye to loved ones because some isis cunts decided to highjack 2 planes and attack the twin towers. Let's see what you would've done if you were on one those planes.

I’ve never once made it through this scene with dry eyes and probably never will. Such a beautiful, touching movie.

This scene popped into my mind shortly after I heard about the terrorist attack in Manchester.
There are very few romance films that I like, but this and About Time are two exceptions. Brilliant introduction and brilliant movie
Check out - There’s Something about Mary and Along Came Polly
It's a little different from these two films but one I recommend is Starman. It's a little dated now but it's got memorable dialogue and Jeff Bridges steals the show.

I love this movie. Especially Liam Neeson and Collin Firth's storylines
And Laura Linney's and Rickman's/Thompson's
I don't know how Hugh Grant got through that monologue without tearing up. I can't get through it without tearing up.
This guy just has such a nice voice that I love, sounds exactly from the 1990's to 2000's, actually so soothing
It is the actor H. Grant. One of the many stars in this film. ❤
Awesome quality! I tear up every time I watch it.
one of my fave films and my fave openings to a film ever!! love really is everywhere
I watch this at least once a month, well said and such a brilliant movie….
Not only a great opening for a movie, but a great reminder that love is all around us.
Any airport is like this, people coming and going to here or there. But we all come back to wherever we're from.
