It was for the acquisition of the Hoard that I made my first contribution to Art Fund UK. I donated a day's pay, about £50. I am on disability, retired, and live in San Francisco so it's doubtful I'll ever get to see it in person but I'm satisfied just knowing that it will stay near where it was found and remain intact for future study.
I also made a contribution and the main reason was that I did NOT want this fabulous asset to go to London where the museums seem to feel they have a given right to hold all such internationally important exhibits. Well they don't now!! Birmingham display it all so well.
