    Great video, Steve! Thanks!! You know... I had no idea that Photoshop had the Photomerge feature! Man! I’ve been scanning things in two pieces but using a taped-on yardstick to keep things in alignment for later, on-screen. Doh! So glad I watched this! Ha, ha!! Great info and instructions, all around.

      Thanks Bro, glad I could help you into the wonderful world of Photoshop....grin! The yardstick is a good workaround if'n you don't have PS!! I gotta say, it was tough showing how to do this without using the shortcuts I'm used to using every day. It really made me have to stop and think where everything is nested, lol. Thanks for checking in!

    Great info Steve! Your video hit perfectly at my lunchtime, LOL! Our stitching process for merging two scans is almost identical. Interesting to see how another pro artist does his promotional cards. I've only ever used Vista for business cards but may give them a try for this type thing also. Thanks for putting this useful video together.

    • @SteveAtkinsonFineArt
      @SteveAtkinsonFineArt  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Steve! Thanks for sharing your lunchtime with me ;) Remember when merging scans required you to set one layer to difference and using transform, trying to make the overlap turn completely black, showing you that your lines matched up perfectly? HA! Glad that's gone never to return. So glad you found this useful. I have to say that I had added all kinds of tweaks once I merged the image, but it was waaaaay too complicated and had too much detail (and ultimately was unnecessary). So I went in and simplified.... and then simplified some more, lol! Thanks for the kind words and the comment. Vistaprint has been nothing but wonderful in their service, their color accuracy and the speed of completion. Moo too!

    • @mindofwatercolor
      @mindofwatercolor 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      YES! And dealing with that slightly darker edge where the scan when off the platen and created a slight shadow. Frustrating. Do you like Moo? I've not tried them, I have a coupon to use them.

    • @SteveAtkinsonFineArt
      @SteveAtkinsonFineArt  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I use Moo exclusively for my business cards. You can order up to 50 (I think that's how many) different images on one side, as long as you keep the other side all the same! Awesome... and you can order square business cards, rounded corners on your cards, or the Luxe cards that are super thick and super premium! If you're into business cards, they can't be beat. So easy to customize and stand out from the crowd! Go get 'em!!!

      @@SteveAtkinsonFineArt Hello Steve, I received my printed cards👏 they are just okay. Perhaps you have some suggestions for me to improve them next go around? The original was a photograph of a small abstract watercolor painting on a watercolor paper (it does have some texture to it). The printed card is much more blended, the edges of the colors are not sharp, could use a bit more saturation, and it lacks depth. I printed on a high quality smooth paper and probably should have selected the one with more texture. Lastly when i sent over my back the text imported as light gray not black though they looked black in the jpg. VP was happy to help me in fixing the back no problem. Wonderful customer service. Thank you again, I look forward to hearing from you and having another go at it. 😀

      @@crowsnestarts1 Hi there. Sorry to hear your cards were less than stellar. Would you be open to emailing me your image and I can take a look at it. Also, if you can include a photo of the cards and how it looks, that'd help a lot. In your email, let me know just what the printed image lacks. It sounds like it could use a bit more dynamic range and saturation, is that right? Also include the back text that printed gray and not the black you were expecting. email me at atk1961@aol.com and I'll see what I can do for you, Steve

    This video was so incredibly helpful. My biggest question is this: my cards sometimes have art on both side of the inside. How do I navigate that?

  • @nancygorman
    @nancygorman 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Would a photo of the work be the same quality as scanning?

    • @SteveAtkinsonFineArt
      @SteveAtkinsonFineArt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, depending on your camera's quality and if you use a tripod. Also, it's difficult to get an absolutely straight on photo of your artwork without getting a bit of glare on it. I've just found that for this kind of artwork, it's easier and I get better results with a scanner. If you don't have a scanner yourself, you may be able to take it to a friend or into a business that does art scanning like this for artists. It's what I do if my scanner decides it doesn't wanna work that day (it takes a sick day).
