Yes, there was 1 person in the 1st episode who had the hot chamber who was actually on the verge of getting at least 25 questions correct but by $22k got 2 in a row wrong
Fun fact: the cold chamber was an extreme frostbite risk from level four onward! Fun fact 2: heat strokes exist! I hope whoever greenlit this shit never got work again.
IAmNotAFunguy I don't think there ever were these other chambers. They could be just rumors. I think it boiled down to Hot or Cold only which is why it became boring very fast. I've seen 6 episodes including this one.
Yes, in the premier episode (which you can find in full on TH-cam), two of the contestants got the Hot chamber. It was kind of awful, the second contestant was screaming and swearing by the time they turned it off.
haha remember this show really well because i was like 12 at the time and thought this show was really cool. i remember at the end of one of the episodes they said they were adding more chambers like an insect chamber but i guess it was cancelled before that ever happened.
Last night, I had a dream where I was stuck inside that very same chamber. Only I was not in the chair that the contestants sat in. I tried to find my way out but the door was shut.
This is just so stupid in so many ways. Not only could he of died there and then, but he could of suffered from a lot more afterwards. Stupid idea, glad this show was taken off the air. Don't even know how anyone can enjoy watching this
Everyone else hates the heat/cold, but what about the electronic muscle contractors? Those made me extremely uncomfortable to think about. They also seemed like cheating on the show's part; it makes a contestant hurt from within, which seems opposite the point of enduring external elements. Out of morbid curiosity, I would like to see the full 2nd & 3rd episode (1st is uploaded on YT). I also wish some trivia got sorted out about the show. Apparently there were no bug chambers, and I can't find any verification of Michael Tiller's claim that says Scott Brown sued the show. Finally, Christina Garner said "Glenn Something, Glenn, Glenn, Glenn Armstrong" when the answer was John Glenn. What do you think, should she have gotten credit for that?
The muscle contractors may have been the toughest part. I don't think there was an electric shock chamber either, that would be brutal. The last episodes I saw that aired had a random selection box that chose Hot or Cold.
This show premiered two years before the first SAW movie was released. (SAW came out in 2004, and this show premiered in 2002.) But who knows? Maybe SAW was partially inspired by this...
does anyone know if there is someone on here with all the eps in full OR even the unaired episodes? I'd LOVE to see all the episodes but doubt if that will happen sadly :( later
i feel it would be more fair if the conditions started out harsh and you had to answer all the questions right to dial the conditions down, but missing a question amped the conditions up higher. but whatever, money is a bigger incentive than not dying of frostbite i guess.
The Chamber started adding different "levels" of smell to the current mode, in her case it was the hot mode. So, 150+ degree temps while getting blasted by terrible terrible smells.
It's a pity that we're probably never gonna see the unreleased episodes featuring the Water, Insect, and Electric chambers. Or is it? I dunno. Maybe it can be considered a Bile Fascination. Like the 5 unreleased episodes of Heil Honey I'm Home.
Of course the host talks slow and all the correct answers were listed as c and d. That's how they prevent you from winning. Shoulda gone to the hot chamber.
This show is great for survivor because The Chamber put you in risk of all elements that may get in your way like you are stranded on Mount Elves,or trap inside with flames surrounding you want would you do if your stuck in The Chamber game show and The Chamber had a modification. If we have the game show back call The Chamber there must have improvements.
The contestants had the choice of either a Cold" chamber of which we see here or the other selection of the "Hot " chamber where all of the elements were fire ,and all of such horrors included! This show was a out of control, no holds bar, butt clenching hour of ghast! The Best Game Show Ever!.
I'm not understanding how you come off suing a show that you put yourself on. I mean each and every one of them knew what they signed up for. They knew that this show was dangerous. I mean they even had doctors on the show evaluating the contestant to make sure that they were healthy enough to continue. There were many instances when they were warned that if they continue, they were putting their health at risk. Sadly, most of the time, the contestant ignored the warnings and continue simply for the money. Every one of them have multiple opportunities during the show to leave, but yet they chose to stay. Sure a lot of money is tempting, but there is not enough money in the world worth dying for. I'm not trying to be mean, but Scott Brown should of just owned up for his actions. It is sad that he was hurt participating in this show, but that's not all Fox fault. It is no one fault, but your own that you chose to put your health on the line for a chance to win some money.
+kate4578 Respectfully, modern ethics and the court system disagree. Just because you got somebody to agree to bodily harm by some means does not mean that you are actually allowed to do those things. Additionally, there are issues such as coercion, desperation, lying. Lying is the most likely possibility in this scenario, the producers of the show could have either implicitly or explicitly guaranteed the contestants safety to secure their participation and than (either implicitly or explicitly) lied about the nature of the warnings given to the contestant, it is not to hard to imagine a producer or other exec telling the contestants beforehand that the warnings they will hear are "just for show".
Even if the producers lied to them, I'm pretty sure they could feel their body being in danger. You know when your body is overheating or about to go into hypothermia. It doesn't take much common sense to realizes that putting yourself in extreme hot or cold weather for long periods of time will have some type of impact on your health. Unless the producers promise to take care of all their medical expenses, I'm not understanding the reason for ignoring the signs and pushing on. Honestly, many of the contestants were on here for the money. Sadly, many of them were willing to put their health at risk simply to win a lot of money. Sure, Fox shouldn't have made a show like this exploiting people willingness to put themselves in dangerous situations for money, but it wasn't all Fox's fault. Part of the blame is on the contestants. These are grown-ups. They weren't in complete darkness about the consequences about being on a show like this. Just how Fox should have known that they were going to lose that lawsuit when one of the former contestants sued them, the contestants should have known that they were going to have health problems after being on this show.
kate4578 Sorry, I disagree. Our bodies are actually pretty bad at detecting thermal damage, and usually by the time it does the damage has already occurred, that's doubly true when the conditions worsen in a stepped or gradual way like in the show (frog-in-a-warming-pot scenario). My original point was that unless Fox was entirely and completely honest (they may have been, but since the lawsuit was lost, I'd say they probably weren't) the contestants actually DIDN'T have any way to know that they were risking permanent damage without information from Fox, and may well have been in the dark about what they would face going into the chamber (and again, by the time it got bad enough to be noticeable, the damage was done). In general, when some person (or organization) harms another, the burden of proof rests ENTIRELY on the one doing the harm to prove that their accuser was entirely and willingly party to the act. For example, if someone is drugged and assaulted, and the accused rapist claims that the supposed victim TOOK the drugs (and that this is a fantasy of their's...or something) than it is on them to PROVE that their supposed victim was willing, not on the victim to prove that they weren't. Same here, it would be on Fox to prove that the contestants were entirely and completely aware of possible harm, the contestants would only have to demonstrate a single instance where Fox personnel indicated the opposite to defeat that argument. It is the responsibility of each and every one of us NOT to do harm to others, not the responsibility of those others to prevent us from doing harm.
I'm not saying that FOX is completely innocence, but nor are the contestants. The problem with comparing drugged raped victims with the contestants on this show is that one party can consent and the other can't. The contestants' judgment weren't cloudy nor were they unaware of the risks. The problem I have with them is that they seem to be shock that they experience any health problems at all. This is kind of like a guy having unprotected sex with a woman and is mad that now he is a father and must pay child support. No will see him as a victim. Even if he argue that he thought the woman was on the pill, he will still have to pay child support. Winning in court have nothing to do with being innocent, because there are plenty of people who have won in court that shouldn't have and people who have lost in court that should have won. The only reason that he won his lawsuit is because he had earned enough money from his winnings to hired a good lawyer to defend him in court. Honestly, FOX didn't care enough to fight against the lawsuit, because there weren't a good reason for them to do so. The show were already cancelled and the money that he was asking for was probably pocket money for FOX anyways. Remember FOX is filthy rich. It probably would have cost them more money to fight against the lawsuit, than the amount he was asking for. At the end, it just wasn't worth it.
@carchavtube after I heard that, I had so much respect for Matt, this was a prime time gig on a major network likely they offered good money and he hasn't really done a whole lot. That took guts to walk away. I do think Matt would have been a better host than Rick but this show stunk so it doesn't really matter. Matt may have saved his career cause think about it what ever happened to Rick Schwartz?
Don't forget, this show was created quickly after CBS found success with "The Chair", where the goal was to keep your heart rate below a certain while John McEnroe asked you questions in the midst of a ring of fire burning around you, an alligator lowered from the ceiling and placed nose to nose with you, etc.
how is wipe out anything like this show? They just have to run obstacle courses (not trying to make it sound like its no big deal, still difficult) but in the show they are literally tortured and asked questions. i see no similarities.

I wish they would release a DVD with all the unaired episodes plus the aired episodes. Many people would probably buy it.
All the psychopaths would
I love the Jaws-style music when he's in the chair and Rick is saying "One last chance...call it quits right here, we'll still hand you $500."
i remember watching this when i was 6 years old and loving it... what the hell was wrong with me, this is horrible!! haha i can't believe this show was legal!
I remember watching this episode with my dad when I was 12 and then never saw this show on TV again. I just recently found out about the lawsuit.
As far as I remember, I think Scott Brown was the only player to make it through all 7 Levels of The Chamber.
Yes, there was 1 person in the 1st episode who had the hot chamber who was actually on the verge of getting at least 25 questions correct but by $22k got 2 in a row wrong
Fun fact: the cold chamber was an extreme frostbite risk from level four onward!

I actually like this idea!...as a torture device, not a game show setting.
Was this video stored in the chamber?
"Alright Scott get this next question wrong and the chamber'll stop"
*Proceeds to give the easiest question known to mankind*
Other unseen chambers included the water chamber, the bug chamber, and the electric chamber.
I'd have nightmares about Level 7 of the bug chamber! What would you face at that level? Bullet ants? Black Widows? Japanese Giant Hornets?
IAmNotAFunguy
I don't think there ever were these other chambers. They could be just rumors. I think it boiled down to Hot or Cold only which is why it became boring very fast. I've seen 6 episodes including this one.

This is like if "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" was hosted by The Riddler.
I used to love this show!!!! Better than "The Chair" in my opinion. That would be cool if they had more of a variety of chambers!!!

Holy fuck... This man might as well be in the Avengers with how much punishment he took in there..
This is Scott Brown's appearance on the short-lived American TV show "The Chamber" (which already ended on the FOX network - United States).
I remember this show.

probably the hardest show to find anywhere.. it's been on for just 2 weeks before it was shut down. I'm not even sure Fox has any footage left
I really hate some people and I'm so angry that I, sometimes, want to put them in the cold chamber (in my imagination).
And I just found out that the premiere episode was the one with the "Glenn Armstrong" controversy.
If they brought back this game show, someone would sue them.
People defending this show must be fans of Saw...
Or could of gone through something much worse than this
