  • Family Mart is now Japan's #2 convenience store chain behind 7-Eleven Japan. All of the usual Japanese convenience store goods such as basic grocery items, magazines, manga, soft drinks, alcoholic drinks, fried chicken, onigiri, and bento are available. FamilyMart is known for its distinctive jingle, which is played upon entering the store.

    The convenient store episodes are my favorite ones for some reason. I think it's because of the variety of items compared to various menu items from a restaurant. I don't know if I'm alone on that or not.

      Honestly my favorite episodes were the older ramen and meal vending machines. Something about the fact they were unitaskers and prepared hot food was very interesting

    It's amazing to me how badly I want to visit a foreign country, just to go to the corner store.
    Obviously there are plenty of other things I want to do when I get to visit, but for sure my first stop after dropping my bags off at the hotel is going to be a 7-11.

    When I was in San Francisco ( we live a few hours from S.F.), there was a Calbee’s in the mall, I had to try it and I ordered the skinny potato sticks and picked out the Wasabe powder seasoning, it was a lot, I might have ordered the large size, but it was so good! I had to much left, so I saved the rest so I can have a late snack in our hotel room after a day of sightseeing and of course shopping! A few months later, we went back to San Francisco and the day after we arrived, we went to the mall... Calbee’s was gone!! Out of business! Ugh.. but I would like to try Calbee’s other chips, Hope I can find them in my local stores. But my mom lives in the Los Angeles area and her community has several Asian stores and restaurants and gift shops, I can try to find if any of their grocery stores sells any kind of Calbee products! 😁💖

    I always read that Japanese food was expensive but I keep seeing these low prices from the convenience stores and I wonder if people are pulling my leg? You'd pay twice that amount if you bought all that in a Swedish convenience store.

    • @shyowl3453
      @shyowl3453 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I mean from what ive seen in the countless hour of research and stuff ive watched on food in Japan, if you eat at the most luxury restaurants yeah its gonna be expensive but if you eat at middle range places or buy your own food from stores its not gonna be that bad

    When I was in Japan we basically ate every breakfast from Family Mart. The perception of convenience stores in America is drastically different from that in Japan. In America I'd say you basically get overpriced salty and fried foods, generally speaking. Japan had a much better selection at a significantly better price point.

    I'd try all that, maybe not the chips tho lol. Green tea really is the beverage of champions!!!! That fish jerky looks to be the most awesome and really cool snack food item ever! Btw bruh "messy" foods are able to be eaten cleanly you know that lol. Also, Eric tbh those Crunky chocolates better actually be stellar if I ever find them one day. I've had many chocolate items similar so... There's just no way they are that tasty as you claim. You ever got just like A lot of different chocolates and tried them all or tried your hand at creating homemade rice crisp chocolate items thingys? I'd buy those if you released a line of "Get Some!" candies, snacks, or whatever. Be really cool and also be super cool if the items had stories on the back or words of wisdom! The potential is infinite with you having two amazing lil' boys, a team of fellow food educators&entertainers, and also knowledge. You could call family size or large portion items called "Team Get Some" then of course the food item. Like "Get Some Chips" and "Team Get Some Tonkatsu Pork Family Meal" for example. Even beverages also like "Get Some Green Tea" that'd be super cool if you had a beverage like Arnold Palmer does and other famous people who have publicly available foods and or drinks.

    Looks like a fun day hike, the outdoor videos must be a lot more enjoyable to film too. Is the hike to the Narusawa Ice Cave worth it, or is it kind of a tourist trap?
