There have been a few shootings at charter schools over the years. None of them were huge mass casualties like Uvalde, Parkland, or Columbine, but there were mass injuries. No school is exempt from gun violence.

Ahhhhh…I tend to look at it like an investment .. what’s the ROI on all that money that taxpayers foot for the public education system in this country … well based on the numbers we see and hear about the waste , fraud and corruption and kids in high school can’t even read on a 2nd grade level … then I think our money can be better spent in charter schools system since it gives more autonomy to the parents and local school Board’s … not bureaucrats in Washington.

The education system in this country is a disgrace. It has been for many years. The Dpt. Of Education, the teachers' unions, teachers' tenure in the system, and politically, ethnicly, racially, and transgender based programs must be immediately removed from all K-through-12 education systems whether they are public or privately funded. Our school systems must never become indoctrination centers for any mindset. Our schools should be teaching reading, writing, civics, mathematics, history (true history), science, government, and geography. Personal political views have no place in the classrooms.

I believe that unions have gone beyond their charter. Unions were created to protect its members from unfair labor practices and persecution. Teachers unions definitely have no business dictating a school district’s curriculum or how it is taught.

No, the teachers' unions destroyed public education. My mother was a really good schoolteacher. She retired in the late 80s.
She said that education got ruined when 1) the unions took over, and 2) the fed $$ started coming in. She said that once unaccountable fed funding started coming in, the school districts treated the local taxpayers like crap, and yet they paid most of the costs of schooling.
We taxpayers are getting crap education for our tax $$$. Just crap.
Uh, teachers unions were around LONG before the 80s. The first teachers union started in 1857.
Also, schools have always recieved the large majority of their funding from local property taxes, with the federal government only providing 12% of education funding.

Private and/or religious schools have committed much worse offenses historically (sexual abuse, physical abuse, harrassment, cultural genocide in Indian boarding schools, discrimination, nonacceptance for students with disabilites, etc.)
.... also, public schools existed for at least 50 years before Dewey. And Dewey didn't just impact educational theory in public schools -- private school teachers equally had their pedagogy formed by tenets of Dewey's theory.

All parents did during covid is whine on social media or post memes about how they were missing out on going places without their kids and missing drinking in bars because they were forced to spend time with their kids. I remember it because I was disgusted because I actually enjoyed being a mother and spending time with my kids when they were growing up. Because of people like rosa and governor kathy hochul in New York specifically, charter schools for autistic kids and kids with special needs have either closed or not gotten enough funding to keep the kids that they already had. Now, children who should not be in a normal public school setting are being forced to attend them. The schools are ill-equiped and undertrained to handle it. Non verbal children and children with noise and stimulation sensitivity who cannot even voice their problems are now suffering. It’s not right. It’s heartbreaking.
Imagine thinking the purple hair thing is anything but severely mentally ill.
