Gay allegations are so triggering for me. Throughout high school, I only really had one friend. Because I kept my circle small and to myself, people needed to talk about something. That's when the gay rumours started. If people want to believe something, they will believe it no matter what you do or say. When I was nonchalant they accused me of not being upset because it must've been true. When I was finally irritated they wondered why I was so upset if it's not true. And I must've been upset cause the rumours were true, like a Salem witch hunt. Fast forward 15 years later most of them were not straight themselves and I've been with my now husband for 12 years.

l can truly understand Hugh's missing mother issue. My mom had severe schizophrenia since l was 5 years old. She was in and out of mental hospitals since. l was raised by a single Father. What you said was right on point correct children without their mothers growing up can have anxiety, social issues that's me. Thank God for my Dad. Because of him l have been successful. When I was in high school I had three friends (sisters) who’s mother also had schizophrenia and she left them too - one day just never came home. Their father raised them and did a great job.

It's traumatic enough when fathers leave. But, a mother walking out on the kids is HORRIBLE. Most Moms take their kids, even if she must leave their Dad. Totally agree. My mom left without warning when I was 12, promising to return “in a week or so.” I ran home from school every Wednesday expecting to see her there for eight months before I realized she was never coming home.
My father and brother raised me instead, and they saw ZERO value in the female of the species other than to cook and clean up after them. Basically, I went from being a little girl to a maid, laundress, and cook. That didn’t change until I left home at 17. I never learned all the things mothers teach their daughters.

Could it be that your mom felt unappreciated by your father and just gave up and left? The father is as much responsible to be supportive husband and provider. But i could never leave my kids they are the victims in all this. My kids were with me when we split. Yet my older son now chose to ghost me, I haven’t seen him for years. I feel just as much abandoned as I don’t have no family in this country snd my kids are my family. 😢

His mom was suffering mentally and if she had stayed, they might have had a different ending. At least now he has the chance to spend the time with her. Men (and women) need to be educated on PPD. It’s no joke and we’re losing so many women to unaliving themselves and sometimes even their own children because of this horrible disease. I pray for his peace and I hope he knows it wasn’t because of him. Gay or straight, he seemed to really really love his wife. Peace and love to them both.

My late parents were very toxic and abusive in all facets. It took me to my 30s to realize I was looking for a father figure in the men I dated. They were much older and very abusive as well.. acted like both of my parents. Once I went to therapy ane worked through trauma, etc. I was more aware of what triggered me and identifying abusive men. I was completely single for 5 years. I met a man 10 years younger that is mature. And has been very kind and supportive. Its been 2 years. We really do try to fill voids but its possible to close the void and heal. 🧡

In this case, I think both parties weren't on the same path as they became older. Kids are way older now and they dont need them to be " As Hands On", gives the opportunity to have the parents get back to themselves. It was fixable (IMO) but it would've taken the compromises being important enough not to be resentful. Other factors too, but I wish them well. During their marriage, even ouside of the now divorce he respected and valued it .
