    Gday mate from Down Under. Love your videos and repairs. Yes we have the same customer/user issues down here too. Just a suggestion when fueling with your Scepter gas can and nozzle, try orientating the delivery button to the top of the gas tank instead of underneath. I find the gas doesn't run over the side of the tank, it ends up in the tank. Less drips, mess and waste. Keep turning spanners and saving outdoor power equipment from the dump/trash. Keep up the videos. Thanks IHG.

    I get so lucky. I tend to leave fuel in equipment over winter, and it always starts up when I need them. I know it's not recommended, but, many years later and still no problems. At least, if it ever gives me problems, I know how to service them. At least my Honda mower does have a fuel shut off, and I Do use that. But my Tecumseh snowblower and Craftsman/B&S Backup mower, they do not.
    It's not that I do not care, it's I anticipate maybe one more mow before the season ends, but then the weather where I live drops pretty quickly, then snow comes shortly after, and I just forget about it. Same with the snowblower: Our snow season is weird. We'll have a bunch of 60/70F days, then out of the blue, drops back down to the 20's and 30's, and a snow storm which requires the snowblower.

    recently had a belt on a rider come apart , and a cord (sort of like builders line) from the belt wrapped itself between pulley and trans so tightly that it broke the snap ring that holds pinion gear to input shaft . murphy's law holds court with me quite often . had to remove , tear down , fish for pieces of snap ring , reassemble , and reinstall . hours of work because of it . yes , the grass on that shaft could've become a problem if you hadn't removed it .

    Beautiful mower and great job! I had a mower that I sold a while ago come in for service early this spring; did the usual oil, air filter, sharpen & balance blade etc. One thing I noticed was that it had just about no oil in it, so when I gave it back to the customer I told him to check the oil level at least every other time he used it. It came back a couple of weeks ago with an unrelated wheel issue and I had to ask him if it was the same mower or did he have two of the same model and mix them up. This thing was trashed, it looked like it hadn’t been serviced in years! The blade was completely dull and bent, grass was blocking the cooling fins and once again there was just about no oil in it and what little there was looked like tar. I was totally shocked but I changed the oil yet again, put on a new blade, cleaned it up again and fixed the wheel issue. I seriously doubt it’s going to make it through the summer.

    • @INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE
      @INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      wow chunky oil is not good, and it's not supposed to be that way unless it was contaminated or, you'd have to have the right conditions for it to get that way. I usually put about 8-10 oz of gasoline into the engine and slosh it around, and then dump it. Do this as many Times as needed until you get all the chunks out.

    I have a John Deere JS45 (I have commented this before) has a 190cc 8.75 ft-lbs of torque Briggs intek engine. Starts first pull cold when primed correctly. When hot 25. Valves are good and I heard someone say that it’s most likely the ignition coil. Have you had experiences with aftermarket coils? OEM ones are $$$ and I don’t know if I should commit to buying one from Briggs.

    • @INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE
      @INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE  ปีที่แล้ว

    You'll never really know what was really playing out behind the 'free' vs 'Oh my relative missed placed where it was supposed to be in the ad & should have put it in the regular for sale section. If this seller knew this mistake of their idiot relative putting it in the wrong section 'for reals' they should have said 'that's the truth but how about $10 a piece' AT MOST or just take them. And again, if the seller really thought their idiot relative had put the ad together for $50 for both they should have ask to see the ad if you had brought the ad or show the online ad that said it was for free. Afterwards & regardless if you had taken them away this seller should be taking their idiot relative to the woodshed later for their embarrassment! 😄

    I don’t fix anything for family any more. Used to, but they had the attitude that “hey that’s what we have you for, to fix the crap for us”. They always wanted the family and friends discount too. They wouldnt drain fuel, take out the battery, and then call me complaining in the spring what I had fixed before is broken again. I tell them to go pay someone else to fix it, since their too lazy to try to fix it themselves.

    With the exception of one, every Briggs engine I have owned leaked oil in some way. Of the Briggs engines out there, the Quantum to me seem to be the best model Briggs had and there were even some OHV style Quantums at one point. I don't know why Briggs got rid of the OHV Quantum for whatever garbage it makes now but I try to, in my best way, stay away from Briggs and Stratton engines and try to buy Honda, Kawasaki, Kohler or even Honda clones. If at all possible I even try to stay away from Vanguard, as it just seems like a gimmicky Honda clone.
    The handle setup on that Craftsman is kinda gimmicky for sure, but others (including Honda) do something like that too. I mean, Toro has its Personal Pace, Cub has its My Speed, which looks similar in concept to Toro's and of course, Honda's is probably considered more complicated but only because it's customizable to different people's preferences with "trimmer" knobs (like trimmer potentiometers) and wheels for fine adjustment. I like my commercial and HRX mowers as the top speed can be set with the orange lever next to the throttle lever and additional control can be varied on what Honda labels "clutch" bail on the handles. I also like the fact that Honda has reduced this setup from 4 cables down to 3 on these machines with the hydrostatic transmission compared to the older HR(A)214SX models I've had before it.
