I’ve put Gryptalite on a couple of my boards (MIdlengths and longboards) I like it, grip is great barefoot or with boots. I’ve never noticed what you’ve experienced with wetsuits slipping. The only drawback I’ve found is it kinda chews up my inner thigh when when wearing spring suits or board shorts due the edge. Requires me to change my motion (that sitting to laying prone to paddle motion). On my last board I ordered it about a half inch narrower and this helped a lot. Definitely like the grip for duckdive or grabbing the rail in the whitewater
Ah ya I’d see how it’s chew up the inside of your leg! I bet that hurts. Glad you found a solution though. I haven’t had it in short weather yet. Thanks 🤙🏽
Definitely agree with your summary. Griptalite is nice for cruzey boards in small clean conditions. When there is chop and unruly conditions it is hard to keep the board under you without slipping. I think the best solution is a front traction pad and add that little wax by the rail for hand grip. I just wish the Griptalite had some stick to it and it would be a game changer! Thanks for the reviewl
I'm Dealing With That Right Now. I Removed The Gryptalite Already, But It's A Pain In The Ass Removing The Sticky Adhesive Mess That Is Left On The Board, From Nose To Tail. I'm Removing It Because I'm Having The Same Problem With The Board Slipping Out From Underneath Me While Paddling For Waves. I Have It On 2 Other Boards But I'm Just Gunna Wax Over The Gryptalite On Those Boards.
At the 5:03 mark, you mention wearing a wetsuit. How is the butt of your wetsuit? I have used waxless deck material such as the one you are reviewing (both from XM and from Versa). Both were great in that there is no wax to melt off in the car. Unfortunately, the decking material tore up my wetsuit butt. The cost of wetsuit repairs (butt patches) made me switch back to wax.
Would you recommend it for a medium board? I live in the uk. And going through different temperature waxes is annoying. Or when your ready for cold water and the weather gets unpredictably warm is frustrating
If wetsuits slip easily, is it slippery with wetsuit boots on? This could be a deciding factor, especially for people in colder climates with a one board quiver.
That is what I have and It is griptalite and the same cons we mentions in the vid. I'm going to take it off and put a front traction pad on my fish and shortboard. It's great for certain conditions but in Oregon the wind and texture on the water makes it a pain in the ass to have to pay extra attention to your board from slipping out while paddling. I think it would be great for a long or mid-length board if that's what you ride.
I personally think that Cork is the Best. You can buy cork adhesives and treat them by water proof spray and that is the cheapest way that I have found. Also the best IMO because it does not hurt your knees or scuff your suit in summer. I wish surfboards makers would start paying attention to this and manufacture boards that do not need wax.
Too much stuff, just take the board and…surfing! Now I’m in Sri Lanka and I surfing every day… Follow my trips around the world to find the best wave 🌊🤙🏻 @ricsvlog

I've a used surfboard with a lot of dent. Do you think I can apply the gryptalite without problem? thank you

if it isn't sticky as you want put a little wax on that clear coat
I've been using Hawaiin Hot Grip Wax Mat for a long time and I really like it. No slip when paddling.
Oh sick! I’m gonna get some now thanks!
How is it with a wetsuit?
@@bruceontheyoutube Even better grip when paddling in a wetsuit. Especially if your suit has slick skin on the chest.
curious on how hard it is to remove it if needed. great video. thanks.

Pyzel funformance = no wax. Grips really good too

That’s a great question! I haven’t noticed any problem so far. I’m gonna have a closer look at it when I get home. Thanks!
Have you used Van Der waal? hoping to get a comparison
Would it make a good base coat for wax?

All my booties have traction which make it work BETTER!
@@HydroMind I’m in the U.K. which gets cold, so boots are required a lot. Thanks for the information, much appreciated🙏
@@HydroMind are there any boots you recommend for grip when used with Gryptalite?
Can this work on a soft top board?
Para mi lo mejor es el Wax, no hay nada que agarra mejor que el wax
Have you tried Van Waal grips?
No but I’ll check it out, thanks!
