The only real consideration is how beautiful her voice is--not to mention all the genres of music she has mastered so well it looked easy. she's not a pop tart, has made song choices you wouldn't expect and is amazing. the only possible negative i can say is that once you've heard her sing something you don't like anyone else's version as well.

I love and adore Linda. This song is hitting harder than usual, my mom passed away 4 months ago & my dad is still in hospice in very late stage, final stage Dementia and he’s deaf. I am bereft, I met my husband 46 years ago in May 1978, and we went to Fort Bragg, Mendocino on our first date, looking over the Ocean, out on the California Coast.
Yes, me too. My brother borrowed her autobiography from me recently and he described her as a "music scholar" and she is. She loves music through and through and knows it. Her good looks and rock queen status perhaps muddied the waters for a few years but she is a musician to her bones.
John Doe part of the problem was she wasn’t as interested in being a star as some performers. She was very private. Also she was often said to be little more than a cover artist. I’d rather listen to a singer with her talent, singing well chosen songs than to hear a gifted song writer who can’t sing. In the 50’s and part of the 60’s no one cared if singers wrote their own songs. Ok, more than enough out of me.
Oh, don't think so. Musicians and real music appreciators recognized her. But she came up in the 70s and had to compete with some less-than-great music and performers. Hers was an industry problem.

When my husband of 35 years died, I was moved to sing, unexpectedly at his gravesite in GA Tsalagi territory. He was born in Houston, TX and raised in Los Angeles, CA. The song was Adios. But, if I had prepared, I think it would have been Goodbye my Friend. I fell in love with her version of the Pirates of Penzance, I mistakenly have two of them. I pray that her life is as comfortable as possible and that she knows that we love her dearly.🌹
This song reminds me of and old friend I lost to cancer, the year after this song came out. Very sad, but so beautiful. Linda is wonderful in concert..well worth going to. I love her voice. OMG, LargeLindaR, that is one of the most tragic stories I ever heard!

This performance is exquisite. Actually, trying to round up some 60 something friends to go see Jimmy Webb, the writer of this song, at the end of the month. It's taken me 40 plus years to fully enjoy the other-worldly talent of Ms. Ronstadt!
