I have to thank you again for the lesson, you see I knew that I've seen "CAT Lexoin" but didn't know the history and got confused every time I seen a Claas Lexion so.... Thanks again :)
Claas started out developing their tracks in cooperation with Caterpillar in the 90s (0r 80s). They took the Cat tracks to put under the combine, realized that didn't work too well, and with Cat re-engineered the tracks until it worked and then built from there. There's a TH-cam video from Claas on that history, maybe you can get Engish subtitles on it.
It is an interesting history. I have all the sales brochures from this time period. I would like to film a CAT Challenger tractor painted as Claas from this cooperation period.
It's funny how much the straw market changes from here in the mid-Atlantic to KY. Here, straw is worth about $300/ton. Everybody bales the straw here because it's almost worth more than the grain lol
Straw here in KY is valuable in the field. It serves as a mulch for double crop soybeans seeded right behind the combine. Two crops from one field in the same year is where the money is at in WKY grain. You can see the seeding of double crop soybeans in this video m.th-cam.com/video/NS3nI5KVL_U/w-d-xo.html
From the UK. What a fact packed well filmed 10mins. I do prefer the green livery but maybe that's just a matter of what you get used to. Wow a Xerion 5000 for a chaser bin!!! Haven't even seen a 5000 here. Thanks👍
I like the look of those Class tractors. 90 bushel/acre it's amazing how much more productive the fields are now versus 30-40 years back? I wonder how much of that has to do with tillage techniques, fertilizer usage, and plant modification respectively?
The Xerion in front of the cornbin is a platform not only a tractor in that. You can see that big free space behind the cabin it can be used for a liquid manure cart or seeding combination also you can turn the full cabin back and using a mower for hay. The steering is not like the Buds and JD or Case in the middle. All wheels are able to be steering as a 4W model or spread out that 1 wheel is hitting the ground didn't know the English name in Germany it's named "Hundegang".
CLAAS is conquering the United States :-) You can already see the Lexion more often harvesting in in the USA. But the XERION is a rare tractor. Here in Germany mostly every contrator uses one or two Xerion tractors. Maybe we´ll se this powerfull machine now more often...
No they aren't. Lexion sales in the United States are stagnant at this time or as they like to put it 'stable'. They have been on the scene for a couple decades now and just have not caught on. I mean seriously you make a class 10 combine yet it has a grain tank that is smaller than a class 9 John Deere that makes absolutely no sense not to mention the offload speed on the augurs slower. Who gives a s*** if you could eat a bunch more grain with your combine if you don't have anywhere to put it and you basically have to surgically attached to grain cart to the side of the combine.
@@deannelson9565 ok, ok. My comment did not specifically refer to the Lexion combine - more generally CLAAS. And you should not take it very serious. But if you like to talk about the Lexion, why not. Here in Germany it looks like 90% of all contractors and large farmers are using Lexion Combines. I´m not a big fan of CLAAS, but there must be something good with this machines, otherwise there would not be that many on the fields. So you talk about class 9 / 10 combines. We don´t have this classes here. So I´ll take what we got based on your examples: engine: JD S790: 625 Max HP Lexion 780: 626 Max HP graintank: JD: 14000 ltr / 400 bushel Lexion: 13500 / 383 bushel unloading speed: JD: 135 ltr/sec or 3.83 bushel/sec Lexion: 130 ltr/sec or 3,69 bushel/sec So I can see not that much differences you like to show me. It is often the case that the family / company always had a brand and continues to buy. Both machines are good machines.

No where near 2 million. That list price is just that, it’s only a list price. This is the beginning of the wheat harvest in your area. In the north of France; the harvest of barley begins in a month and a few weeks after: rapeseed and wheat.

If I may...to the best of my knowledge this is why the class numbering system isn't arbitrary in that manner. If you consider that decades ago many John Deere 55 combines came with a 217 cubic inch engine and later a 303 cubic inch engine, producing 70 horsepower then 98 horsepower (if memory serves) then the class numbering system makes sense, starting from class 1. By hearsay I've come across this rationale a number of times over the years being born and raised and continuing farming.
It was cutting well. I think farm’s here run a little different than other places because no matter the brand of combine I get questions about belt and reel speed. Thank you for watching.
It is not based on grain bin size. AGCO’s Gleaner combines 6,7, 8 are all 390 bu machines but have different engine hp. The S790 is 543 hp and that is why it is a class 9.
Most farm’s here in WKY do not bale straw. They all plant soybeans after wheat so they spread straw out to serve as mulch to help hold moisture in the soil for the second crop.
It’s not only wheat. This field is seeded into soybeans right behind the combine. Wheat in June then Soybeans in October from the same field. You can see the double crop soybean seeding at m.th-cam.com/video/NS3nI5KVL_U/w-d-xo.html
In the United States combines have been measured in bushels for nearly 100 years. I guess that’s just the way it’s always been. Interesting Forage harvesters here are measured in tons of product harvested.

Yeah the header costs as much as a combine did in the 80's
It is amazing how machine investment has gone up.
bigtractorpower yeah but can they manage with a smaller combine ?
@@provenxreaperx Once you've seen a class 6 working beside a class 10 and probably 25ft compared to 45ft.
Harika 👍
Thank you for watching.
belt speed on the draper seems way too slow. Nice video
It was cutting well. I think farm’s here run a little different than other places because no matter the brand of combine I get questions about belt and reel speed. Thank you for watching.
If the combine class system works off of engine horses power and grain bin size. why is it the a John Deere S790 only a class 9 combine?
Everette Harris engine horsepower not grain tank size.
It is not based on grain bin size. AGCO’s Gleaner combines 6,7, 8 are all 390 bu machines but have different engine hp. The S790 is 543 hp and that is why it is a class 9.
Why aren't they wind rolling the wheat stubble in a wind roll and baling it?
They Will grow Soy beans in IT.
Most farm’s here in WKY do not bale straw. They all plant soybeans after wheat so they spread straw out to serve as mulch to help hold moisture in the soil for the second crop.
Why is this harvester so much more than a Deere S790? You better harvest a LOT of wheat to pay for this machine.
TheHondaman the John Deere combine is a class 9 combine and the Claas Lexion 780 tt is a class 10
Plus it can do corn and soybeans I imagine.
It’s not only wheat. This field is seeded into soybeans right behind the combine. Wheat in June then Soybeans in October from the same field. You can see the double crop soybean seeding at m.th-cam.com/video/NS3nI5KVL_U/w-d-xo.html
why do we measure combines in bushels rather than tons and cwt
In the United States combines have been measured in bushels for nearly 100 years. I guess that’s just the way it’s always been. Interesting Forage harvesters here are measured in tons of product harvested.
Why do the grain carts have tractor style tires?
Better floatation.
Produce Claas also the Lexion in Omaha ore where the combine‘s ship to Omaha from the german Production?
Titan Mechanism I‘m sorry for my bad englisch.
Are you from Germany?
Titan Mechanism yes I‘m also from Germany
800k combine in 4 dollar wheat and 5 dollar corn. I dont know how some guys do it
$5 corn isn't so bad but $4 wheat and $8 beans sucks.
Where you getting $5 for corn? Lol
@@cib5250 We have a strong positive basis here in Maryland and Delaware and parts of PA for corn because of the poultry industry here. We are actually in a corn deficit area. Prices have been right around $5 at local elevators
You have to farm A LOT of acres to justify it. One of the local farmers here(central North Carolina) has 7 of these 780s, and they farm right around 22,000 acres.
is this 2019 wheat all ready
All ready to go. One farm in the area has 1,000 acres cut since Wednesday.
@@bigtractorpower wow things are really hopping out there stay safe in them fields
poderia ser vendida no Brasil
What was the cost on the 45' head ??
I do not know. I would think it would be over $150K.
👍👍👍👍
Thank you for watching.
Why the New Holland Colors ?
The video explains why the 780TT is painted yellow in great detail at the 3:20 minute of the video.
Is this Video from 2019?
The 2019 wheat harvest is underway. One area farm has 1,000 acres in since last Wednesday. The Convio header on this 780TT is new for 2019.
😍
Thank you for watching.
Wheat harvest yahoo
It was a great harvest this year. I have several more combine videos to share.
