Thank you for this. Followed this recipe. It is amazing and spot on. Only thing I like to do, is after 350 degrees for 4-5 minutes of deep frying the chicken, I like to coat the chicken in the tso sauce and stick the coated chicken in the air fryer at 400 degrees for like 4-5 minutes. It caramelizes the sauce and makes the chicken pieces crispy. Takes it to another level. Awesome, tasty good!
Made this last night, not in the book but watched this video and it came out very nice with your egg fried rice and chicken chow mein, wife said it was like we got it from the take away just as you say it will, thanks guy's.
And another one to try out! I find it fascinating how people come up with this type of recipe. At times the ingredients seem an odd mix but yet somehow work well! Hats off to the General and now get on my plate!!!! 🍛
Here is the US, the menus call it Gen Tso’s Chicken. Most of the time, it’s exactly the same as what they also serve called Sesame Chicken but has a few spicy peppers instead of sesame seeds. Both are crispy breaded chicken in a spicy red sauce and served with white rice. Over the last ten years, the trend has been for the chicken to be less and less crispy. Lately it’s never crispy at all. My understanding is that this is a dish invented by the take out industry so the recipe is not traditional. The best version I’ve ever had was in the UK at a small Chinese restaurant in Thetford next to the Bell Hotel. I did a Google search and unfortunately they are no longer there. Their version really had minimal sauce almost candied into thin but crispy chicken strips - more crunch than chicken. They served it with white rice that was topped with some sort of thinly sliced and fried seaweed topped with a sweet and savory spice. It was amazing.
Looks absolutely amazing! Thank you so much for making this content I started off by trying to do the salt and pepper chicken and it worked out beautifully, and I have made a few more of your dishes. Definately getting the cook book. Will this be featured in there as well?
That is a mouth watering dish! I normally get the usual sweet and sour chicken balls from my local but his is something else. I'm going to enjoy cooking this. Thank you for sharing this one 👌
I like General Tao Chicken and this looks bloody delicious😋 I shall have to have a go at it. The song Choo was attempting to sing was You Spin Me Round and was by the band Dead Or Alive which was led by Pete Burns.
I was hoping you would do this. I didn't know if you would being it is more an American thing. Definitely going to try making this as I loved it the last time I was in the US.
Looks delicious! I am going to try this version but I don’t fry my chicken. Trust me I like it fried but I’m trying to be one step closer to be a little healthier am I eating ( a very small step)🥴😄 I love your mom💜 She’s so funny and sweet💜
Can't believe keyboard "Cooks" are still telling you how to cook Take Away recipes - seriously. I do a lot of cooking and have cooked for events in the past, but I wouldn't tell you or other Chefs what's right or wrong. Recipes vary - one General Tao recipe will be different to another so what's the issue. I mean I've done General Tao before and it was a more Soya sauce/rice wine vinegar heavy using Chicken stock. Other recipes is just a basic Sweet n Sour, others use chilli powder or flakes others use Chilli sauce - so which one is right? Does anybody cares? obviously the Keyboard Bandits think so hahahaha. Also I always found you experiment until what's right for you personal and learn from others who do it differently and its a "Oooooohhhh" moment - Cooking is about learning not correcting or being a gatekeeper. "Deep breath"......... Great video loving the channel, hope you are all keeping well.
by the looks of it I can only get lee kum key of the hoisin & chili and garlic. I know you said amoy but similar outcome right? Two good brands... Looks delicious.
Great vid! I would like to see a vid for sweet, red colored chinese boneless ribs, please if possible? Thank you. Been following you for a few years now. Love you guys.
After the chili garlic sauce, what did you say? I can't understand what you said. I think you repeat it after, but I still don't understand. Did you say "hoisin" as in hoisin sauce?
@@ZiangsFoodWorkshop 😂 it’s the name of the takeaway, really popular one based in Camden market. Their bang bang chicken is so nice with the hoisin sauce but I have no idea how to recreate it, I know it’s not just straight up Hoisin because it’s not that strong
When I want to cut weight as I am a bodybuilder I eat chinese food ie: chicken / rice / beef etc , better than any company advertising dieting, at the end of the day its just a matter of calories in/ calories out.
Just found your channel recently, great videos! Any chance of doing a one for Gravy? It's a black sauce that's sometimes topped on egg fried rice special or sold in a tub - it's not made from black beans Keep up the good work you two!
Check out the Chinese roast pork and BBQ sauce recipe. I think that is what some takeaways call gravy. Even if it isn't what you're looking for it's bloody delicious.
think you’re reading to much into our interactions. Everyone else can see it for what it is. You have no idea what I do for her off camera so keep your thoughts to yourself, what I’ve given up to help her out.
Chin and Choo have a wonderful relationship. It's easy to see that their hilarious interactions and banter are forged with love and respect. They remind me a bit of me with my mum - she can be as daft as a brush at times too! Great video guys, and I really think I'm gonna try this one cuz it looked delicious.

@daze1945 it's Chef Peng's recipe named after General Tso
i love this channel, your mum is so wholesome
you guys are brilliant, you make me smile!
Thank you 😊
Tried this tonight. Never had it before, for some reason our local takeaways don't do it. I can't understand why, it tastes amazing. Thanks guys.
Not many takeaways in the Uk have it on the menu, it’s an American dish :)
So glad I found your channel love what you guys do keep up the good work
😊😊😊😊😊 thanks
Thanks so much for this, a friend had this in the USA and raved about it, another one for my list!
Hope you enjoy it!
Just eaten my dinner and now watching this you've made me hungry again 😁

Also do you do recipe kits other than the vegan one? So all you need is in one kit rather than the individual items?
You guys make me smile so much and I love you food

Been waiting for Wednesday yehh 👍
Can you use canola oil for this and other recipes like the aromatic oil used for the curry sauce?
Yes :)
Great channel thanks learnt a lot..
Hi looks lovely. Could I use rice flour instead of potato starch?
I’d use corn flour instead

Hello is potato starch easily available in chinese supermarkets or can I substitute it with cornflour?
We sell it on our webstore

Could you do one for sesame/Chinese chicken - something we don’t really get in UK Takeaways. Looks very similar to General Tso’s

Is there a UK equivalent to this? Something similar to order.
Maybe peking or Cantonese sauce
Ooh, yum, that does look amazing 😋
Awesome chicken recipe😋😍👍
do you actually mine your ginger or crat it? just wondered . food looks good but you look better... I THANK YOU.
we very very finely cut it, but most people can't so we say mince or grate it
Do I need to buy rock sugar for your smoked chicken recipe or could I substitute with normal sugar?
Normal sugar will do but it’s jot the same

Yes

I've never seen this on a UK takeaway menu. I wonder why ? It sounds rather nice
I'm not sure ether, I just think its not a known recipe so they don't have it on
It's a creation of American chinese take-aways.
I know yet its on every menu in USA.
Its almost seems like there sweet n sour chicken lol
You should also publish your book through Amazon. Then it would be available internationally as an ebook
Thought of that even before writing it, ebooks are so easily pirated, happened to a mate of mine
Can you please please do the Wok boy Camden bang bang chicken with hoisin sauce recipe
No idea what a wok boy Camden is

how much garlic did you put in??
2 tsp
Sup Chin my fellow BBC. GREAT content. Your face, fish - Nope ! 😂 …..Fried fish - ummmmmm

so what you're trying to say is, garlic later? i wasnt sure ;)
I think he was saying don't put any garlic in the second batch of potato starch?
Why is some Hoi sin dark brown and some light brown?
fb.watch/9ElX8Y0omT/ this should help explain
I've had General Cho's chicken in Florida and on the TBBT they called it General Tso's chicken and now it's General Tao?
Tso is the right way, Tao is the phonetic spelling, so westerns can say it, it’s spelt like this on most Uk takeaway menus
@@ZiangsFoodWorkshop I've never seen it here.
Like I say in the video, it’s not very common here, but look at the comments, this is a far few people go to at there local takeaway
