There are vids on youtube from her at 14, 16, 17, early on in her career and later on. If you hear her albums it is interesting to hear the early albums with very much Bluegrass style, the 1997 album where you hear the vocals being very much "in transition" and the later albums in the vocal style of her career since then

As far as I've read being overweight there's some fat around the vocal cords that change the tone and ease of singing. I feel there could be some truth to it with the some of the more overweight singers I like that has this light tone and having ease singing with lots of power, Adele included. To me it seems like her voice changed a lot with weight loss, to deeper and sounding less powerful. I think she is doing an astonishing job still being able to sing her old songs and using her new voice.
I actually watched that episode of Jools Holland when it was broadcast and thought then, Wow she is good. Didn't know how massive she was going to get 🙂

Seems like there's more psychology and life experience conclusions in this episode than vocal technicalities. Love it!
