For comparison: (mSv/a) = (Dose) = (Time you would need to spend in the 'decontaminated' area) 0.36 = Eating one banana a day, every day = 3 weeks 1 = Civilian exposure limit in the USA = 2 months 2.2 = Maximum exposure rate desired by Japanese government = 4.5 months 3 = Average background radiation you get just from being alive = 6 months 5.7 = 'Decontaminated' area shown = 1 year 20 = Full body CT Scan = 3.5 years 50 = Occupational exposure limit in the USA = 8.7 years 100 = Ten-year exposure limit before increased risk of cancer = 17.5 years Because of the way the human body processes radiation over time, the decontaminated area would have to radiate at least 11.4 uSv/h to be dangerous, and we're at less than 1 uSv/h. This does not give a fully accurate picture of the contamination spread on the ground which can then spread into the ground, water, food and be kicked up by people walking.
I am here only to comment on another video presentation where comments have been disabled, the video in question was published by ctv santa cruz and is presented by Daniel Hirsh and if you are in any way interested in the Fukushima accident or the implications of what continued use of nuclear power holds for our future as a species, then I urge you to give his lecture some of your attention. This guy clearly knows what he is talking about, he has been maticulous with his research and he raises some serious issues we need to urgently address, the language he uses is refreshingly clear an easily understandable for the average viewer and he doesn't get bogged down with technical terms, again, I urge you to give it look - it will open your eyes to what is really going on within the nuclear industry and how it will ultimately effect all of us.

I would like to know how they calibrated their instruments, data isn't useful unless its accurate. Such as driving in a car, you are actually going faster then the probe can account for the radiation in the area. Especially with a pancake probe. It's a good idea just in practice not practical.
You can buy the bGeiger via Medcom (450$) or you can build your own via a Open Source for ca. 200$ but it is a lot of Work, a lot of Organization, all together ca. 15 Hours of work. But the bGeiger is okay for 450$, a "Inspector Extreme", which is similar, cost ca. 650-1.000$. The documentary clearly shows a safecast sticker being placed on a presumably fake Geiger counter, and it was 0.200 ... which is not really that important because 0.085 is terrifyingly high when a normal background should be 0.020. Actually Japan was and still is very low in Radiation, the US, the middle of the EU and many other Places have a much higher "Background Radiation", Pre-3/11 the average Level in Japan was under 1 "Milli-Sievert in a whole Year", on Kanto Plain it was ca. 0.065 "Micro-Sievert/ Hour (mcSv/h) but in the Mountains, where we have a lot of Rocks, the natural Background was higher! The Measurement we saw in this Documentary was ca. 0.210 mcSv/ hour, this is not dangerous "but" we can detect much higher Levels in specific Areas (like seen in this Docu) Geiger-Counter: the Net is full of DIY-Geiger Counter and it is easy to build a simple one for ca. 40-65$, a better one need at least a Pancake Device, Data Logger and USB Connection, this will be ca. 200$ & your Working Time! I like Geiger-Mueller Tubes because they are very robust, a Pancake Sonde is very sensitive to Radiation but also for a Damage!
