I love the biker community, especially Shadow 750 riders. We are largely just a bunch of people who enjoy the wind therapy on bikes that are easy to maintain, great on gas, easily customizable, and great for city riding.
yeah, I know, another comment LOL...its raining and im caffeinated lol. One thing I wanted to tell you about the switch to the big bikes, please be careful!!! they are not as forgiving as the 750's, the Road King taught me that lesson fast.
People been drilling out their baffles as long as I can remember or removing the baffles from after market pipes. You usually need to rejet and adjust your air screws if you mess with the exhaust and air cleaner of any degree to have it run properly. Stock mufflers are way too quiet for most people. From a safety stand point, always ride like you are invisible is very important.
I agree with the ride like your invisible 100 percent. As far as the pipes, so far I don't feel the need to mess with them. Like the sound of the stock.
I learned to ride on a Honda Shadow ACE at around the age of 50. Then decided I had to get a Harley Road King. Then wanted a little smaller? So got a Heritage Softail. Now 71 years old went back to the Shadow. An Areo this time and loving it. Perfect for my type of riding.
Very nice Seems to me that alot of folks move away from the shadow and then come back to it The heritage is a great bike, so I have heard. I have never ridden one Thanks for watching and commenting.
mine are stock pipes with baffles removed, its louder, but not obnoxiously loud. I kept the intake air cleaner box stock and had no need to re-jet the carb as I get no "popping" on de-cel. lost negligible power, but compensated by gapping plugs to 35 rather than the 36 they normally were. I have a video on my tiny 4 sub page if you wanna check it out.
I really need to get some footboards for mine as well. I have had difficulty locating ones that will actually fit the ACE. I have tried some that will fit a honda shadow but the ACE is a bit different.
My 2000 ACE came to me with drilled baffles, and I wasn't happy with the sound. It was slightly louder, but didn't have a nice "tone". I bit the bullet and forked out for a set of Cobra long shotguns, and now the old girl barks proper. Had to pull the carbs and re-jet to keep it from running too lean, but it wasn't hard after watching TJ Brutal's videos on the topic. If your bike is mostly stock, a big old Mustang Seat, Progressive Suspension upgrades front and back, and Cobra floorboards, along with some good Saddlemen or Viking bags, will give you an Iron-Butt capable one-up mini touring bike that's perfect for any riding off the interstate. Of course, if you really want to tear down the super-slab, the shadow 750 can do it, but you'll have to swap to a smaller rear sprocket if you don't want to suffer bad vibes thru the bars and boards. Personally, I went more bobber/chopper style, but to each their own. Variety is the spice of life.
Great information and thanks for all of the good advice. I have heard that about a smaller sprocket and that's a must for distance. To be honest that's why I am considering a vtx 1800 That way I can go two up distance without doing all the mods. However the mods your talking about would be absolutely freaking bad ass on the shadow. Thanks for the excellent comment and watching my channel. Again all great ideas
I am going to purchase from accessories international the batwing fairing with the two 6 x 9 Rockford Fosgate speakers and the p.m. three Rockford Fosgate head unit with the 400 1 AMP. I have some boss speakers mounted on the handlebars right now and they sound fine but the batwing fairing with the built-in speakers in here unit is just awesome I also want to add the highway crash bar and put LED lights on it also then I think I’ll be finished with customizing my bike until something else comes along right ha ha
I stumbled upon your channel by pure accident... Not a negative though. I just got my M license in January and only been riding for about 3 months or so. My first bike is indeed an 03 Honda shadow 750 ace deluxe that came with cobra shotgun exhaust. I absolutely love my bike. She doesn't have baffles and it sounds amazing.
I had pegs on my 84 VT750, they were okay but when i bought my 97 VT1100, it came with floorboards, and i must say, I definetly wouldn't choose to go back to footpegs
Perfect bike for around town. Not as comfortable on the hwy for a long haul. I love my 750 but I plan to go cross country and need a bigger bike. Find a back road that goes 60 mph and you are in heaven.
Removing the baffling will not cause harm to the bike except that it could allow cold air more directly onto the exhaust valves quicker. This could cause considerable damage. The baffles actually work to deaden the sound but also to slow the rush of air back towards the valves.
Ok I was thinking that the baffles did more than just deaden the sound. I'm so grateful that I have knowledgeable people who watch comment and subscribe to this channel. Thank you sir!!!!!
Less back pressure is ALWAYS advantageous, the increased flow WILL require enrichment of your a/f mixture to REDUCE exhaust Gass temperatures thus preventing burnt exhaust valves. That said I pulled my baffles the first summer so I could hear the rpm on the highway. Then ran straight pipes 8yrs since. No tune, no damage. This year I am opening up the induction side, so I am adding a fuel controller.
I’d love to get a Shadow 750. I don’t see many in NZ beyond Spirit and Aeros. Not many fuel injected ones at the moment (for sale anyway) I’d love to see if my wife could pillion on this one
Should be fine with 2 up. I think that everyone definitely needs to test ride one first and like I have said make sure that the bike is for you and meets your needs. I personally love it. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Mine is carb. I haven't had any issues with it however it's rare that it sits for very long. I know my wife and I can ride two up on mine without much issue.
@@meandmyshadow7839 yeah it definitely if bang for buck it's the best. I've been doing a lot of research on the shadows and they are perfect for my budget
I wonder if there’s a way to put a gas gage on one I’ve got a Honda shadow ace I’m going to get a big windshield like that but I have to fix the foot exstions they put some on it but you can’t hit the brake because of the breather being so big and far out. And I’m only 5/8 so exstions needs to be brought back and the gap between the shifter and brake pedal is to far apart. But I have some wiring to redo and solder them. Duct tape is not a good way to cover bare wires.
Yes to the gas gauge question. Not sure how well they work but they are all over Amazon. I just searched "gas gauge for honda shadow 750" and a bunch came up.
Hey thanks for.the comment. That windshield was with the bike when I bought it. It's stock. I believe you can get them on Moto Sport. Just Google stock windshield 2003 ACE.

Have a 06 shadow 750 spirit and a 06 vtx 1800f3. Brother has a r1 and a road glide special . Love them all! All great bikes
I bet you love that vtx1800. I'm jealous

I have to say it took be a while to get use to the angle the handlebars turn in.. Im think some drag bars would give my shadow a more aggressive look
If I was changing my bars I would do either drag bars or maybe....maybe...some meat hooks like 12 inch
Just be shure to wear high viz apparel! Helps to keep us safe
Great point. High viz will definitely help . Anything to help other vehicles notice us more.
